Good afternoon everyone...let's let the light shine in and get this partaayyy started!
RAY GORDON REID ( EAST LANSING MI 48824)
QUESTION TO MARK GURU GARROW AT2.20 PM GOOD HONORABLE GURU WHO DOES THE MICHIGAN GURU HAVE FOR IRISH HILLS SUNDAY
Mark "Guru" Garrow (1:59 PM)
Good afternoon Ray Gordon....He did everything but win last year at Michigan...a track he has never visited victory lane...my pick this week.........................(insert drum roll please)...........Jimmie Johnson.
Nicholas Rolando (Orlando)
Mark, I love my Ford Racing teams and was thinking of going with an all Ford line-up for MIS but backed out. So I went with 11-29-9-43? Thoughts?
Mark "Guru" Garrow (2:03 PM)
Nick...Nick...Nick....Kahne is a team killer man...he's burned me more this year popping bacon grease...Also the Fords just might have a little revival this week because according to Jack Roush the simulation programs they were getting from an outside source weren't very good or accurate so they are going with new software for this race and he hopes they can get back to their winning ways...not sure about that..but Roush seems to think they'll have a turnaround this weekend and we need to be on the look out for that..Hamlin, Harvick I'm really good with...Allmendinger will be his usual feisty self, but I do believe you will definitely be able to do better than Kahne, certainly find a safer pick.
mike p (danbury ct)
hi mark, you are back on track. this week double points week. do you like any of the rousch cars if so who. how about the rcr crew. if so who. how do you think the 48 will do or even mark martin? who is in your crystal ball to win on sunday. thanks mike
Mark "Guru" Garrow (2:05 PM)
I've picked the winner in four of the last five so that's not a bad batting average...going in, again,I have Johnson has my favorite...but this race as it was last year might not be won by the fastest but the team with the best fuel mileage and strategy, which turned out to be Mark Martin..Roush might see a resurgence this week because of what I talked about a few minutes ago..but that remains to be seen...open practice and qualifying will begin to answer that question..He might not win but the steadiest guy in the Roush camp has certainly been Matt Kenseth.
Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)
Who do you think will win the Meijer 300 at Kentucky?
Mark "Guru" Garrow (2:07 PM)
I think like last week it will come down to Keselowski and Edwards...and I think they'll finish just like last week..Keselowski then Edwards...be sure, by the way, to catch that race on the radio because your truly, Doug Rice and the PRN gang doing that one...I just love that track and can't wait until they get a Cup race.
Mark we have to do something about the B Drivers. We need to adjust them. How is this for Pre-Race 48-11-18-29-31. This team, I am sure will look like most peoples. Love ya Beth
Mark "Guru" Garrow (2:10 PM)
Getting kind of boring eh? Line-up looks solid...but this might be a week where Jamie McMurray might make more sense than Jeff Burton. It's been a terrible track for RCR in the past and Burton hasn't been quite as consistent as Harvick. Also, McMurray has been great every other week and since he was terrible last week at Pocono......then again Burton and Harvick second and third on Michigan's sister track earlier this year - Fontana...so I just might stick with that....clear enough for ya?...I think I even confused myself...lol
dave (ny )
is this team show me monet 29,18,11,17,31,2,48,33 anybody need go? hows my other team on different game 29,18,11,17,31,2,33,20 anybody need go here?
Mark "Guru" Garrow (2:17 PM)
Dave..first team rock solid I think..second team only real question mark for me is Logano...He should be decent though and was fifth at California earlier this year so that bodes well...if he comes through like that again...if he does could be really big numbers.
Shane (Piqua Ohio)
Mark..Whats your thought on the Chase. I like them adding wins to make it more interesting but lets say the points leader at the end of the 26 race cutoff hasnt won a race. Shouldnt he be rewarded for that? Start him first in the chase then after that the leader in wins?
Mark "Guru" Garrow (2:18 PM)
Shane, that's the crazy part of this deal now...point leader after 26 races might not be the point leader going into Chase...I, like you, like the idea of more pressure put on these guys to try and win so the bonus points are good...after that I say give the "regular season champion" a million bucks and a trophy and let her rip.
Mark "Guru" Garrow (2:44 PM)
I didn't have any questions for awhile and now they've flooded in together so here we go again..
Hi Mark...I'm a bit worried about expecting Rousch cars to be really good at Michigan, as they usually are. But I feel I need to stick with the hot cars, regardless of prior records. Do you agree or not?
Mark "Guru" Garrow (2:46 PM)
I think you have to be careful about those guys absolutely...especially when Hamlin, Busch(s), Johnson, Gordon, and others will be their usually potent selves..so yes I agree with you...forget about past stats...what have you done for me lately...who's got the "mo"...
Mark, what effect do you think the penalties to the 38 team will have on that team? It appears Doug Yates was not fined - that would be good, considering their struggles.
Mark "Guru" Garrow (2:48 PM)
Take 150K away from a team on limited budget and that is going to leave a mark no doubt about that...plus the suspension of the crew chief..this will hurt them big...as for Doug Yates..he's owner on paper only. Front Row Motorsports is owned by Bob Jenkins..he'll write the check...Yates just put his name on paper (after check was written) so Jenkins could get that car a guaranteed starting spot in the first five races..
Mark, do you think Hornish has a chance at doing as well as he did last year? He looked good last week. Rank 43,98,83,77,82 if you could please. Thanks for all you do!
Mark "Guru" Garrow (2:49 PM)
Hornish scares me half to death..was junk most of Pocono race but when he got out front he really looked sporty...43,83,98,77, and 82...that's how I see it going in..subject to change on race day or course.
How is this for a starting point in Yahoo. A. 48,11...B.17,20,1,29...C.98,77...I am leaving of most of the RCR cars because I am running low on starts.
Mark "Guru" Garrow (2:50 PM)
48...17 and 29...77...is how I see it as of right now.
Mark "Guru" Garrow (3:01 PM)
Well, that's going to do it for this early edition this week of the Wednesday fantasy racing chat...the preview will go up tonight..and don't forget our race day chat will take place Sunday morning beginning at 9:30 eastern time...So until then have a great week and may the force be with you...and with that..sorry to say..."The Guru has left the building"!
