KC Joyner (4:00 PM)
Good afternoon! Let's talk some fantasy football!
I have Wayne, Collie, Clayton, Maclin, B.Tate. Should I keep Collie or should I sell Collie now?
KC Joyner (4:01 PM)
If someone makes you an over the top offer for Collie, you might consider moving him, but otherwise you absolutely should keep him. Elite WRs like him aren't easy to come by.
Vick is out and i have Orton going against a tough BAL defense. Would it be worth while to pick up a guy like Shaun Hill? He's been decent while the starter.
KC Joyner (4:02 PM)
The Ravens D hasn't seen a passing offense as strong as the Broncos this season. Have faith in Orton and go with him.
KC! What do you think of Roy E. Williams as a WR2 this weekend? Thanks!!
KC Joyner (4:02 PM)
I'm very sold on him. His matchup against Finnegan is very favorable (Finnegan has been really off of his game this year).
I have Randy Moss would you trade him for Brandon Marshall?
KC Joyner (4:03 PM)
I'd only consider that in a PPR league. On a related note, I've changed my tune on Moss for Monday. He will have an extremely good game because he'll be motivated to do so (motivating factors being key in whether or not he puts up big numbers).
Josh (Michigan (Go Sparty))
Is Fitz. going to gradually pick it up with the new QB or more of the same lackluster performance we seen thus far?
KC Joyner (4:04 PM)
I figured there might be some Sparty fans here today! The reaction to the CFB Contrarian Thoughts about MSU has been favorable. Fitz will likely have more lackluster performances because Max Hall so far hasn't looked very good.
would you start amendola this week or roscoe parrish? bad, i know
KC Joyner (4:05 PM)
Go Amendola versus a bad Lions secondary. On a related note, Detroit has been much improved on defense overall. The coverage is the only area they really need to step up in.
Ryan (Sioux Falls)
Can you smell what kyle orton is cooking. I have both flacco and kylo orton, who would you start, I'm leaning towards flacco at home.
KC Joyner (4:07 PM)
Know your role, jabroni! I miss The Rock - WWE just isn't the same without him. I have Orton rated higher because his passing offense has been more in tune this year but Flacco isn't far behind given the shape of the Broncos secondary.
Adam (East Lansing)
Drop Brandon Tate for Deion Branch?
KC Joyner (4:08 PM)
Last I checked, Branch is still in Seattle. He might make the move to NE but if you make this move, be prepared for the possibility that he stays with the Seahawks. It's a good gamble he'll make it back to NE, though, so if you are feeling lucky, make the move.
Would you start Ray Rice or Jahvid Best?
KC Joyner (4:08 PM)
I'd probably go Rice just because Best is still dealing a bit with the toe injury.
Need some trade advice from the football scientist! Boldin for D. Williams? (I've got good WR depth and need some help at RB).
KC Joyner (4:09 PM)
If you have really, really good depth at WR, that might be a move to make. Otherwise, it's not worth it.
!!!! (your computer)
I'm tired of starting Ray Rice, how can I get rid of him?
KC Joyner (4:10 PM)
If Rice doesn't do anything against Denver, then it might be time to think of moving him. The Broncos D isn't much to write home about and the odds are Rice will have a game that will make you reconsider moving him.
Good idea to sell high on eddie royal/t jones and buy on desean and ronnie brown?
KC Joyner (4:11 PM)
Royal and Jones would both be on the sell high list. If you could get either or both Desean and Brown, go for it.
What would be a better trade in your opinion: I give up SJackson and SSmith (carolina) for either Jennings and Bradshaw or Calvin Johnson and RBrown. Thanks
KC Joyner (4:12 PM)
Jennings or Bradshaw. Both have the capability of being dominant fantasy players, probably more so than Megatron and Brown.
Do you trust starting B. Loyd? Would you do so over K. Walter. Obviously this has nothing to do with the pasting I'm going to give you in our league game KC, this is for another league.
KC Joyner (4:14 PM)
You say your team is going to paste mine and then want some fantasy help? If it were anyone other than you, BSB, I'd say go fly a kite (just kidding). I'd go Lloyd over Walter, as he has a very favorable CB matchup in Fabian Washington.
Start Bradshaw over Bush? Worried about that ankle and Barbara Jacobs stealing carries.
KC Joyner (4:15 PM)
I'd probably go with Bush, at least as long as Run DMC is not playing. Always take a healthy RB over one on the injured list.
Sam Bradford (St Louis )
Do you start me over the likes of Orton or Flacco?
KC Joyner (4:16 PM)
Not this week, but it won't be long before this question is being asked every week. Sam Bradford is the best rookie QB I have seen in seven + years of doing tape breakdowns.
Shonn Greene or Ryan mathews for the rest of the year KC? Thanks
KC Joyner (4:16 PM)
Mathews (and thank you for spelling his last name right - everyone always spells it with two Ts and it only has one).
Can you explain the Giants' defense to me? The Titans have had issues running the ball in weeks 2 and 4, but ran through the Giants without a problem. Then, the Giants completely decimated the Bears offense for an entire game. They couldn't run or throw against them. Which is closer to the true representation?
KC Joyner (4:18 PM)
They have a good forced bad decision rate and their CB coverage metrics are terrific (see yesterday's post on ESPNNewYork.com's Giants blog for more details). The dominant D is the truer representation.
Love your chats! In a two-QB, who do you like between Gradkowski, Young and Freeman? I know, not great. Thanks a lot.
KC Joyner (4:19 PM)
Gradkowski has the highest ranking on the TFS start-sit charts (more info about which can be found at www.thefootballscientist.com), so I'd go with him. Oakland is throwing the ball vertically quite often and with some success.
Floyd or Mason as my #2 WR this week? I ask b/c of the Nhamdi effect.
KC Joyner (4:20 PM)
The word out of Oakland is that Nnamdi won't move around to follow the best WR. Go with Floyd.
How do you think Marshawn Lynch fares in the SEA offense? 900 yds and 8 tds?
KC Joyner (4:21 PM)
That might be a bit high. Still, he'd be a solid fantasy pickup for the right price.
Am I really benching LaDanian this week for Thomas Jones?
KC Joyner (4:22 PM)
I don't like the matchup against the Vikes run D but overall the Jets should be able to put up some points against the Vikings mediocre secondary. That means LT gets goal line chances, so feel free to keep him in the lineup over Jones.
Brock H. (Texas)
What will happen if Branch goes to New England? Will he become a number 1 WR?
KC Joyner (4:23 PM)
It will almost certainly be like the old days in NE - a wide distribution of passes. Branch will be a good spot starter but wouldn't be able to be considered a #1.
Mick VG (Des Moines)
R.Mendenhall and Peyton Manning in exchange for Orton, R.Rice, D.Driver and Braylon Edwards -- a fair trade? My league didn't think so . . . they vetoed it.
KC Joyner (4:25 PM)
The only reason to veto it would be that the four player side is giving up too much. All in all, though, I probably would have OKd it.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Personally I miss Rowdy Roddy Piper but that's a topic for another time. Chris Johnson is sputtering a bit, K.C. That would figure since I finally had a chance to draft him. Anything to worry about in your opinion?
KC Joyner (4:26 PM)
I miss Piper as a heel - he wasn't that compelling of a babyface character but he was fantastic at stirring up crowds. Don't worry about CJ2K - he had a couple of subpar games last year as well (remember the week 1 Pittsburgh contest) and his season still turned out great.
Tyler (Big Apple, NY)
Now that Matthews is a full participant in practice does that mean Tolbert is a non-factor? Would you give Wells the start now instead?
KC Joyner (4:27 PM)
Tolbert's role will drop week by week as Mathews gets more integrated in this offense. Starting Wells over Tolbert is the way to go.
I'm getting tired of Colstons lack of production...bench him for t. jones this week?
KC Joyner (4:28 PM)
Colston has an OK matchup this week but it isn't anything to write home about. Jones is the way to go.
Who's (your daddy?)
should I dare bench Schaub for Orton, can't believe the numbers orton is putting up week to week...
KC Joyner (4:28 PM)
With AJ80's injury and the way the Giants are covering WRs right now, I'd start Orton.
Dwayne Johnson (Miami)
Finally...The Rock has come back to ESPN! I play in a 2 QB league and my QBs are Schaub, Smith, and Kolb. The rest of lineup is Best, Lynch, Rice, Moreno, Charles, Miles, Marshall, White, and D. Bryant. Who would you trade for Brees? If ya smellllll....what The Rock....IS.... COOKIN!
KC Joyner (4:30 PM)
I usually don't take long questions like this, but since it is The Rock, I'll know my role! If I'm the Brees owner, I only trade him for Miles (and I probably don't make that trade). If you can get him to take less, terrific, but don't count on that happening.
Thanks for your time, KC! This or That: Garcon or Sims-Walker? JStew or Kuhn?
KC Joyner (4:31 PM)
Garcon and Stewart - tough calls on both parts.
Broncos WRs (Pretty Happy Right Now)
Are there any of us not worth having on your Fantasy Roster right now?
KC Joyner (4:31 PM)
Not really. Even Demaryius Thomas, who has been slowed up a bit since his great start, is a prospect to have given his superb talent level.
which 2 would you rather have three weeks from now? Lee Evans, Nate Washington, Crabtree, MSW
KC Joyner (4:32 PM)
Ouch. If I had to pick, I'd say Evans and Washington.
Everyone seems to be saying that Ryan Matthews is going to take over the bulk of the carries and be the main guy, starting this week. Are you buying it?
KC Joyner (4:33 PM)
Big time. Mathews was my pick for offensive ROY this year. He got out of the gates slow but he is now healthy and seems to know his role in that offense (couldn't help myself on that one).
Hanson (Grand Rapids, MI)
Hey KC! With McFadden all but ruled out, would you go with Bush over Torain to go along with CJ. Thanks!
KC Joyner (4:34 PM)
Torain. Shanahan is really sold on him and we all know the history Shahanan has with RBs he thinks highly of.
Would you start Floyd or Betts in PPR? THANK YOU!
KC Joyner (4:35 PM)
Floyd. Don't give up on him yet - he's had two really good games and will likely make it three out out of five this week.
Would you really trade SJackson and SSmith (carolina) for Jennings and Bradshaw? That doesn't seem like a good idea to me!
KC Joyner (4:35 PM)
Bradshaw is running very well and Jennings will get more usage down the line. Smith is injured and playing with a rookie QB and Jackson is battling a groin injury. Always take good healthy players over good injured ones.
Name game for the rest of the year....DMC or Marshawn Lynch?
KC Joyner (4:36 PM)
DMC. Lynch could still be in a split carry situation and DMC won't be when he's healthy.
Rob (State College)
Philly defense keeps getting rated highly but seems to get eaten up like a cheesesteak! Would you drop them for Cincinnati (both this week and long-term)? Also, is Chris Ivory someone to keep on the roster just in case? Thanks!
KC Joyner (4:38 PM)
Mrs. Scientist loves cheesesteak sandwiches, so this one rated a post on that alone. Cincy does have some favorable matchups the rest of the year, so I'd make this move. And keep Ivory just in case.
If Andre Johnson can't go, will I be ok putting in Holmes Monday night?
KC Joyner (4:38 PM)
Matchup-wise, yes. Rust-wise, not so sure. Add em up and it equals a slight risk.
Bob (Madison, WI)
Thanks for the Stat/Sit Update! 4-0 thanks to you KC! Vernon Davis or Roy Williams this week at WR3?
KC Joyner (4:39 PM)
Glad I could help! Go with Williams - the Titans secondary is in really bad shape.
Which WR is more tradeable...Nicks or Calvin? Trying to trade for Wayne or Austin...
KC Joyner (4:40 PM)
Nicks is on his way to being one of the best WRs in the NFL (check out the ESPNNewYork.com post I did on this a few days ago). If you can get Wayne or Austin for Calvin, that would be a great deal.
Mike (Danbury, CT)
With the Excellence of Execution that is Sean Payton's Offense, which NO RB do you like better this week if you need a bye week fill in, Betts or Ivory?
KC Joyner (4:41 PM)
Nice way of fitting in a Bret Hart comment! I'd go with Ivory just on the chance he'll get used in the passing game more.
Chris (San Jose)
I got a tough one for you... at least i think so... Which three would you start between AP, Arian Foster, Jamaal Charles and Peyton Hillis?
KC Joyner (4:42 PM)
Hillis is the only injured one of the group. I'd keep him out and go with the other three.
meatball sub or chicken parm? Flacco or Orton?
KC Joyner (4:43 PM)
I'll take the chicken parm, Mrs. Scientist is partial to the meatball sub sandwich. Go Orton.
KC, would you trade ZMiller for DBryant? Have DClark already at TE and Jennings, Maclin, Bowe at WR.
KC Joyner (4:44 PM)
The Cowboys are going to do all they can to turn Bryant into a star (pun intended). He has a great matchup this week, so you might want to pull the trigger on this now if you can, as you might not be able to after this week's game.
Dylan (in the office)
Go with Torain's guaranteed carries over Tolbert's TD vulturism?
KC Joyner (4:45 PM)
Big time go with Torain.
The anticipation of Farve coming off a bye week, Monday night and his new Moss Toy is making my want to start him over Schaub...thoughts?
KC Joyner (4:46 PM)
Schaub is facing a strong pass rush with good CBs and might not have AJ80. Favre will chuck multiple long passes to a motivated Moss. I've got Schaub rated higher on my board but a case could be made to take the risk and go with Favre.
The beautiful Ms. Bell reported that Pierre Thomas is OUT! With that being said..I am starting Ryan Matthews this week and need to replace Thomas with either Tolbert or Fred Jackson...thoughts on the SD Duo vs Oakland...or give Jackson a chance as the new starter?
KC Joyner (4:47 PM)
I'd go with Fred Jackson in that case. He'll be the most likely beneficiary of the Buffalo backfield change.
Boy, I am hurting due to injury and bye. Right now I have a banged up AJ, Mike Thomas and Garcon staring in my PPR league. Bowe & Britt are available. Would you drop Thomas or Garcon for either of them? Both?
KC Joyner (4:48 PM)
Bowe could be on board to have a big game this week. He's facing Kelvin Hayden and Hayden has given up multiple long passes this year. I'd drop Thomas for him.
In a vacuum, would you trade Santana Moss for Keller?
KC Joyner (4:49 PM)
A top WR is almost always worth more than a top TE. Not knowing anything else about the team compositions, I'd make the move.
Will the Philly D show up this week, or should i roll the dice with Detroit?
KC Joyner (4:50 PM)
Lions are forcing a lot of bad decisions and they are at home. Eagles are on the road and their offensive woes could leave their D in some bad situations. You could roll the dice with Detroit.
KC, you know my team is awful, my post was bluster in the face of terrible odds. That being said, are you buying L. Blount as a pick up?
KC Joyner (4:51 PM)
BSB, I take no offense at trash talk! And I have faith your team will turn things around. Blount is an OK pickup but I wouldn't expect big things out of him.
Chris (Livestrong 0-4)
KC, How about starting Mathews and Tolbert together against the Raiders? Bad idea?
KC Joyner (4:52 PM)
It would depend on who you could start in Tolbert's place but getting a full backfield against a weak Raider run D is a good idea in general.
MY WRs (Brokenheartsville)
Whose a good pick up this week to start? Roy Williams, Mike Williams (TAMPA), Amendola, Steve Johnson, Lee Evans what do I do here?
KC Joyner (4:53 PM)
Good city name there, broken. Get Roy Williams - his matchup against the Titans secondary is one that could give him another double-digit point showing.
Thought this was a football chat not a lousy FF chat
KC Joyner (4:54 PM)
Bob, Friday's are always a fantasy football chat! The football chat is on Thursday.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
K.C.: Is Donald Driver actually the better Packer WR to own right now?
KC Joyner (4:55 PM)
For the moment that might be the case but Jennings will start posting bigger numbers soon. And, having said that, Jennings does have TDs this year, so he's still been a solid producer.
Any value in Steve Breaston when he comes back? I know you were high on him to start the season. Is he better then Nate Washington or Sims Walker?
KC Joyner (4:56 PM)
Breaston had two good games in three starts, so he had a short-term fantasy impact before the injury. He's a better WR than either Washington or MSW.
Paul (Los Angeles)
... and just saw the mis-spelling comment... argh
KC Joyner (4:58 PM)
Assuming you mean Mathews - don't worry, as soon as he starts posting dominant numbers (which should be any day now), we'll all learn how to spell it properly!
To: Scott (Denver)....M.Lynch 900 yds and 8 TDs just made me spit Diet Coke all over my computer!!
KC Joyner (4:59 PM)
First this chat gets blamed for causing a loss of productivity and now it will get blamed for computer damage!
Trade advice please!!! Orton for collie a good deal? I already have rivers.
KC Joyner (5:00 PM)
That's a good trade given that you have Rivers. Well, it's been a fun night but it's time to take Mrs. Scientist and the kids out for dinner. Quick note - you can follow my material on Twitter at kcjoynertfs. Hope to see you all next week!
