AJ Mass (11:04 AM)
Friday is here, but have no fear - so am I, for one hour of fantasy chattage. Let's get it started - second cup of coffee in hand - who is up first?
Thoughts on DMC this week? Would you flex start him over Lance Moore or Thomas Jones?
AJ Mass (11:06 AM)
I like DMC if he plays. I think he gets the starting nod over Bush this week and keeps it.
Celek or Ben Watson at tight end?
AJ Mass (11:06 AM)
Celek as long as Kolb plays. Once Vick is back, I pass, since Michael won't.
What happens to Anthony Gonzalez's value now that Collie is out?
AJ Mass (11:07 AM)
Has to go up. Looks like it's going to be Garcon, White and Tamme who get boosts as well.
Picked up Cassel for this week but someone dropped Kolb...do I stick with Cassel??? Thanks!
AJ Mass (11:08 AM)
If you're only looking at the one week, I still love Cassel... but also, KC's schedule is fairly pass-friendly the rest of the way.
If Gates plays, I have start him...right? Moeaki is my other option.
AJ Mass (11:09 AM)
Yes you do.
D play this wk: Philly, SF or KC?
AJ Mass (11:09 AM)
I'd start SF without hesitation.
zach (chapel hill)
hey aj, flex start cadillac or fjax? if i can't start caddy against the rams i should just drop him right??
AJ Mass (11:10 AM)
Yeah, I'd see about getting a new car.
Looks like Jackson will be back with SD in 5 weeks. Grab him and stash him? My WRs are D. Jackson, S. Smith (NYG), Knox, Wallace and Britt.
AJ Mass (11:11 AM)
Certainly worth the chance... especially with the D-Jax status up in the air. Plus, you can always trade him (or another of your WR).
Desperately need a win this week! Pick two: S. Smith (NYG) vs DAL, H. Ward vs MIA, and D. Bowe vs JAX
AJ Mass (11:12 AM)
I go with Ward and Bowe. Giants either have success early and then run, or they don't have success at all.
Whats your take on both Mike Willams this week?
AJ Mass (11:13 AM)
Like them both, but I like West more than South.
Have to feel good about starting Colston vs the Browns this week right? I'm trying to be patient!
AJ Mass (11:14 AM)
You can feel good about Colston - and Moore - and Meachem... and optimistic about Henderson. Someone is bound to be disappointed though.
Fed up (Carolina)
Can I drop Stewart? I am thinking of grabbing Britt or even James Starks for something down the road.
AJ Mass (11:15 AM)
Unless you enjoy 3 fantasy points a week... I think Britt is going to be a monster with a healthy VY.
Over under 100 yds and 1 TD for Lynch vs Cardinals?
AJ Mass (11:16 AM)
I think Lynch gets around 60 yards. TD's are impossible to predict.
James Starks (Green Bay)
When do I become relevant? Do I become relevant?
AJ Mass (11:17 AM)
Certainly not until you actually complete a full practice. I don't think you do become relevant this year, if ever.
fred (at work. )
Is Addai really out for a few weeks? If so, grab Brown now before everyone tries to get him next week?
AJ Mass (11:19 AM)
Absolutely need to grab Brown and/or Hart (let's face it - no Colts player is safe from injury these days) sooner rather than later. Addai says it might be a month before he regains strength in his shoulder... not a good sign at all.
Geoff (Dillon, CO)
Do you think Woodhead will keep seeing the rock like he did last week and become a nice piece of trade bait in a couple of weeks?
AJ Mass (11:20 AM)
He's basically the Kevin Faulk now, so yes, he'll be in on many third downs and get around 5-10 carries.
"I think Britt is going to be a monster with a healthy VY." Really, cause you recommended using Amendola over him last week...you have changed your mind in one week?
AJ Mass (11:22 AM)
Don't mistake matchup-based analysis for longterm analysis, Andy. I might state I think Cassel outscores Aaron Rodgers this week, and I do... doesn't mean I don't think Rodgers is a far better QB.
Some ppl are just sitting here with all your transcripts vigorously looking for times when you contradict yourself... ya see here, I have a chat you did in 2004, and back then you liked Randy Moss better than Andre Johnson? What gives!?!?
AJ Mass (11:23 AM)
LOL. Exactly, Daniel. I may well *gasp* also change my mind during the week based on new injury news and whatnot...
Thanks AJ! who would you keep for the rest of the season , A.Collie or M. Floyd (their injuries scaring me)? is it crazy to drop either of them to pick up Deion Branch?
AJ Mass (11:24 AM)
Collie's injury gives me more pause, and heck, Branch and Brady are going to give you more points than a guaranteed zero.
Oakland QB situation means look for Z. Miller replacement?
AJ Mass (11:26 AM)
I don't think so. For one, Campbell is likely to play this Sunday. But in general, when teams do go to a No. 3 option, they tend to check down to the TE a lot... Of course, I think Miller's best value is when Gradkowski plays, but the WRs are so bad there, Miller is still the only Raider (other then S-Jan) I'd want.
Speaking of ranking changes based on injuries - Wayne go up or down based on the suddenly thinned out Indy receivers? Thanks AJ!
AJ Mass (11:27 AM)
Let's see where we are next week with Wayne. After all, if Gonzalez and Garcon are both ready willing and able to go, it's not THAT much worse than usual.
Evan (Quad Cities)
Heard alot of people downplaying Michael Jenkins against Philly saying "garbage time receptions because they were playing from behind, run first offense, will get lost behind Roddy Tony and Turner..." Do you buy into that or do you see more value then, say Mike Williams from Seattle?
AJ Mass (11:29 AM)
It's still Roddy and then everyone else in ATL's passing game. That said, Jenkins is certainly going to get more looks than say, Douglas, and I can see 5 for 65 this week from him. Still like Williams better, since he's the "Roddy" of SEA, but Jenkins is a decent flex option.
BIG AL (NM)
Ok so you all seem to think that lynch is going to have a great home game here agaist the cards, but would you start him over felix jones in a ppr league?
AJ Mass (11:30 AM)
I would start him over Felix, but I don't believe I said he'd have a great game anywhere.
What's your take on match-up versus player skill? I've got Moreno against a terrible Oakland D v. bradshaw or torain versus much stouter run defenses?
AJ Mass (11:33 AM)
You always "start your studs" however it is you define them. Just because I can sit here and say I think Peyton Hillis outscores Chris Johnson this week, doesn't mean I wouldn't start CJ2K. But it does mean I would start Hillis over Moreno or Bradshaw. It's talent first and foremost and matchups when you need to toss the coin.
Tim (Tampa Bay)
Do you ever think its bad to have too much depth? Each week I have to decide between Torain, Lynch, McFadden, and Michael Bush at flex. Which should I go with this week?
AJ Mass (11:34 AM)
It's not depth that is an issue - you need depth because of byes and injuries. But certainly, if you have no No.1 backs and five No. 2 backs, if you start to try and guess who will be the best each week, you're going to end up chasing your tail. I'd go DMC and Torain this week.
You always start your studs. So Cutler or Romo this week? You'd say Romo with no question?
AJ Mass (11:36 AM)
I would say Romo no question.
So you are saying Hillis is more talented than Bradshaw? What!?
AJ Mass (11:37 AM)
I didn't say that at all - read the answer again, Jordan. I'd put them in the "coin toss" area and Hillis wins on matchup.
RE: Tim (Tampa Bay) If you have that much depth at RB you almost have to be thin somewhere else. Why not try and trade some of those guys and upgrade a WR or something?
AJ Mass (11:39 AM)
Easier said than done, Josh. It some leagues it is impossible to trade B-Level for A-Level players, and even less likely when vetoes enter the equation. However, that's certainly an option to explore.
Talent vs. matchup question. Would you consider Jamaal Charles a stud? He has a good matchup but so does Hillis and I need to decide which one to start?
AJ Mass (11:40 AM)
If Charles were sure to be getting 20 touches a game, then he would be, but that's not what Todd Haley has in mind - at least not yet. Still, I do like Charles better than Peyton.
Chris (Please answer this question)
Who to start Cutler or Eli?
AJ Mass (11:41 AM)
I give the slight edge to Eli. Giants-Boys games have tended to be of the high-scoring variety over the past few seasons.
With the projections, not ranks, why are some players projected to get TD's when they haven't scored all year? (Colston, Williams (SEA))
AJ Mass (11:43 AM)
I would say TDs are impossible to predict, but all things being equal, a guy who gets 15 targets is going to have a better chance at scoring a TD than a guy who gets 3 targets. Colston and Mike both lead their teams in targets by a healthy margin.
Michael Turner has to be buy low, right?
AJ Mass (11:45 AM)
Pretty sure his owners are down on him in a big way. That's buy low to me.
Thoughts on Steve Smith (south)? I had Crayton penciled in due to injuries and byes but not Smith appears good to go this week.
AJ Mass (11:46 AM)
He has practiced all week, so he does appear good to go... I'd still take my chances with Crayton though. Carolina has been sad to watch.
How about Buster Davis? A starter this week if Flloyd is out?
AJ Mass (11:49 AM)
Not sure he's healthy either. Richard Goodman is penciled in as a starter right now. This is not a pretty picture.
2 QB league, and Schaub is on bye. So who should I start alongside Flacco, McCoy or Moore?!
AJ Mass (11:50 AM)
I'd take a chance on McCoy,and how sad it is for me to say that.
Ben Richards (Running Man)
Best flex: Hines, Beanie or Mikey Bush?
AJ Mass (11:51 AM)
I'd start Hines this week as a WR2, so that's where my answer lies.
Seems you can twist a stat either way. MJD, in his projection, is predicted to do well because Chief's D gives up 10th most points to opposing RBs while Berry uses this stat in his Love/Hate to say MJD will have a bad day. Your thoughts?
AJ Mass (11:53 AM)
That was an excellent question. How silly of you to ask it.
Feel okay starting Harvin as a WR2 on a bye week? Heard he was hurting a little bit.
AJ Mass (11:54 AM)
He's always hurting a little bit. I think Percy Harvin is Latin for "Pain in my head and ribs." Don't worry.
Hey AJ, Who gets the start? Jabar Gaffney or Steve Smith (NYG)?
AJ Mass (11:55 AM)
I lean to Steve Smith, though the two are about as close as close can be this week.
Wade Phillips (Dallas, TX)
Obviously I have no idea how to choose a RB so I come to you for advice. BYE week play: Brandon Jacobs or Mike Tolbert?
AJ Mass (11:57 AM)
I'd go with Jacobs, though of course, you're hoping for a vulture score either way.
Why do most fantasy websites have a player's performance history against another team? There are so many variables involved, why does it matter how they performed against a team in the past? Seems a bit misleading.
AJ Mass (11:58 AM)
Football is all about small sample sizes, but generally speaking unless there's a coaching change, the team you are playing will likely have the same defensive system in place, which gives at least an idea on how well an offensive player will be able to perform against it.
Who sits this week (0.5PPR): S. Moss, Bowe, or Crayton (assume no Naanee)?
AJ Mass (11:59 AM)
I go Bowe, though I don't think Crayton's value is affected by Legedu one way or the other.
Greg (Providence, RI)
Pick One, Driver, Smith NYG, or Britt
AJ Mass (12:00 PM)
Smith over Britt due to Young's status. Driver is hurting a bit too much for my tatses.
AJ Mass (12:01 PM)
That's the buzzer, gang. Thanks for the Q's. We're on the Twitter and try to make a "tweet run" a few times a day... good luck to you in Week 7, and until the next time: Be Seeing You!
