KC Joyner (4:00 PM)
Good afternoon! Let's talk some fantasy football.
Should i start Favre over Manning this week hoping its a shootout?
KC Joyner (4:02 PM)
That's a tough call. I'd probably go with Eli but it's a photo finish type of call.
Thanks KC? im worried, both my A.collie and M.floyd are injured. who should i drop between them to pick up Deion Branch?
KC Joyner (4:03 PM)
I'd not drop either if you can help it, as Branch won't post those types of games every week. If you must drop one, make it Collie, as he is a #3 WR and Floyd is a starter.
Whats your philosphy on starting players from the same team? This week i have the ability to play Big Ben, Ward, and H. Miller, but it seems almost counterproductive. I have moeki instead that i could plug in to diversify my team.
KC Joyner (4:04 PM)
In most cases I say go ahead and start them because the best players should always be in the lineup. In your specific case, Moeaki might actually be the better play than Miller because of how often he has been targeted this year (and many of those are vertical throws).
Desperate for TE help! It's Keller's bye week in a 14-team league where everyone else has at least (yes, at least) 2 TEs on their roster. Who would you play out of: Greg Olsen, Bo Scaife, Donald Lee, Fred Davis, Ben Patrick or any STL TE. Thanks!
KC Joyner (4:05 PM)
Go for Olsen. Chicago has been using him fairly frequently as a wideout this year.
Thanks for the Roy E. Williams recommendation last week K.C., you made me a believer! Do you like him again this week, or should I go with Harvin, Knox or M. Williams (TB)?
KC Joyner (4:06 PM)
He's due to face Terrell Thomas, who had a less than stellar game against the Lions, so feel free to start Roy E. once again.
Big Joyner Fan (Sippin a cold one.)
Last place need your Insider help! With jackson out as my number 1, I need a WR BAD!, add: Gonzalez,Danario,Cryaton,Johnson,Bess,Washington,Tate,Demaryius,Evans,Henderson, or Armstrong. Which one has the best year going foward??? Thanks KC your the man!
KC Joyner (4:08 PM)
I'm sitting here with a glass of water, so enjoy a cold one for me! That's a long list but in a nutshell I'd probably say Crayton.
Lost DSJ and Floyd. I have Williams (TB), Branch, and Crayton...choose two.
KC Joyner (4:09 PM)
I'd go Branch and Crayton.
Any value in holding on to MSW at this point? I have Collie hurt but also have Jennings, Maclin, Williams (Sea) and Breaston so I'll be covered through bye weeks.
KC Joyner (4:10 PM)
He's been a boom/bust player (more bust than boom) and those are the types of players one typically wants to keep out of the lineup. Don't drop him for the sake of dropping him but if you see a value player worth picking up, feel free to drop Sims-Walker.
Orton or Roethlesberger this weekend?
KC Joyner (4:11 PM)
Orton. At home versus a shaky Oakland secondary is a better matchup than Ben's road game against a solid Dolphins secondary (solid for the most part).
I Got Ripped in 4 Weeks (Hulk Hands)
Trade Brady/Jennings for Orton/Fitzgerald?
KC Joyner (4:13 PM)
Those Hulk Hands are cool - might get my kids those for Christmas (but don't tell them that - want it to be a secret). That is a very even trade but I think the Jennings side might be a bit better down the road given that he has a much better QB than Fitz.
Are you worried about VJax's impact on Floyd during the fantasy playoff's in Decemeber? or is there enough to go around in SD and besides Floyd is established as the man right now?
KC Joyner (4:13 PM)
Floyd and Jackson both posted quality numbers down the stretch in 2009 when they started together. No reason to think they cannot do the same in 2010.
James Harrison (NOT retiring and walking away from all that $$$)
What's in store for dinner w/ Mrs. Scientist and the kids?
KC Joyner (4:14 PM)
We may end up calling for a pizza or something like that. Looks like a stay at home evening with a ton of time in the tape room for me.
with addai out brown or hart????????? HELP PLEASE i lost addai
KC Joyner (4:15 PM)
Brown has been injured of late and Hart to my knowledge hasn't been similarly ailed. I'd go with Hart.
Jim (West Michigan)
I was offered Thomas jones for Garcon. Currently my options are RB2 are Cadillac or Beanie. My WR are R. Moss, driver and D. henderson please offer some advice on this trade.
KC Joyner (4:16 PM)
I'm of the mindset that Garcon will have a huge second half of the fantasy season. Jones likely won't do that, so I'd stick with Garcon.
Tim P (NC)
What is your take on the QB controversy in Philly? Does Vick still have his starting gig?
KC Joyner (4:17 PM)
I'll spin this to a fantasy perspective. If Vick is given the starting job again (and Reid says that will be the case), try to aim to make a trade for Kolb. His owner might be apt to trade him and given Vick's injury history, there is a good chance he'll be out again at some point this year.
Breaston or Britt, both have qb problems, who do you see being more productive this weekend?
KC Joyner (4:18 PM)
Breaston has the much easier matchup by far (Britt will likely be covered by Asante Samuel) so I'd lean in his direction on this one.
KC What do you think about Steve Smith CAR? Will he have a good rest of the year? I just traded Brandon Jackson for him, hope Smith regains his form.
KC Joyner (4:20 PM)
I'm not sold that he will have a great latter part of 2010 but given the upside possibility, it was a good risk to take on your part.
Which Colts WR would you target via trade -- Garcon, Wayne or Collie?
KC Joyner (4:21 PM)
Garcon. Given the nature of the questions everyone is asking about him in this chat (should I trade him, is he worth keeping, etc.), it is likely his fantasy owner might not value him properly.
I'd love your advice on a trade in a PPR...I was offered Gates for LT. My current TEs are Cooley and Keller. Is it time to sell high on LT? Other RBs include Forte, Bradshaw, and R Matthews.
KC Joyner (4:22 PM)
Gates has had a great start to 2010 but he's injured and facing the prospect of having Vincent Jackson back in the lineup in a few weeks. LT is very much the bell cow RB in NY and that likely won't change. Don't make the trade.
Nick (Owego, NY)
KC, I have Foster and Mathews with no depth behind them and can't find anyone on the free agent list, are either Tolbert or Ward worth a roster spot?, if so which one? Thanks
KC Joyner (4:23 PM)
Tolbert has been a solid player this year but he's had a recent spat of fumbles that are worrisome. Ward would probably be the way to go.
Hello Mr. Scientist: Who do you trust more ppr league this week, a gimpy Percy Harvin or an inconsistent Dwayne Bowe? Thanks.
KC Joyner (4:24 PM)
Bowe. He has a very favorable CB matchup. And no need to call me Mr. Scientist - KC will do just fine!
Ajit (Saratoga, CA)
Hi KC, please indulge this Non-fantasy question...do you believe this recent slate of injuries to the colts is the final deathnail for this season?
KC Joyner (4:26 PM)
Ajit, I'll make an exception for a long-time chatter such as yourself! The Colts system is built in such a way as to absorb injury. Losing Clark is huge but if Garcon steps his game up (as he likely will) the overall drop-off in production won't be too great to overcome. Plus, the NFL is in such a state of flux that it might not take a dominant team to make a long playoff run.
Thanks for the help last week! Eternia is safe once again until the next episode. I have to start two of: Crayton, Breaston, S Johnson. Who should I bench?
KC Joyner (4:28 PM)
My kids will feel much knowing Eternia is safe! I like Crayton and Breaston's matchups the best, so bench Johnson in this one.
KC, haven't posted a question in any of your chats, but still read them. Here's my question: With Dallas Clark out for the year, do you see any fantasy value for Jacob Tamme in Indy?
KC Joyner (4:30 PM)
Thanks for reading the chats and for sending over your first post! Peyton is really good at integrating new pass catchers into the offense but I'm not sure Tamme will be a recipient of that talent. He'll more than likely see some additional targets but probably not enough to give him ample fantasy value.
Need you to break the tie for me KC. Should I trade away Welker and Torain and receive Randy Moss and Woodhead. I have CJ2K and then for a RB2 it would be between Ronnie Brown, Lynch, Thomas Jones, J Stew, and Woodhead. How does it look for me, KC? Thanks.
KC Joyner (4:31 PM)
Tough call there but Moss is the only truly elite player of that bunch (not sold that Welker will be an elite fantasy player the rest of this year). Getting elite players is what wins fantasy leagues, so I'd make the trade.
Favre or Cassel this weekend?
KC Joyner (4:34 PM)
Who would have ever thought this would be a viable fantasy question? Cassel is facing the Jags horrible pass D, so it most certainly qualifies as a question that has to be asked. I'd actually go with Cassel in this one on the premise that the Packers defense has a better chance of stopping Favre than the Jags do in stopping Cassel.
Marques Colston (The Obvious Question)
So, when is it? Do I score this week? Should I start Heinz Ward over myself?
KC Joyner (4:35 PM)
Ward is due to face Jason Allen, a Dolphins CB who is having a very hit-miss year. That matchup makes Ward easier to trust, so go ahead and start him.
KC Joyner (4:35 PM)
Good question. He made yesterday's chat (even gave Sage a nickname), but I have yet to see a post of his today.
Would you still start Michael Bush this week over Fred Jackson and Jonathan Stewart even if McFadden is back. Bye week blues.
KC Joyner (4:37 PM)
Fantasy football bye week blues - sounds like a country music hit song waiting to happen! None of those are good options but Jackson has the best chance to be the bell cow. I'd go in his direction on this one.
tacos or gyros? flaccor or orton?
KC Joyner (4:39 PM)
Good question on both fronts (especially because I'm hungry right now). I'll take tacos for question #1. I'll take Orton in
Ethics!!!!! Isn't there some point when you have to save owners from themselves. Every league has an owner or two who are not the most savvy players. Am I wrong I vetoed a Tom Brady for Matt Stafford Trade?
KC Joyner (4:41 PM)
I'm more of a caveat emptor (I think that is the saying) guy when it comes to fantasy football. I think the reason trade vetoes were put in was less to prevent moves that are made out of a lack of knowledge (a gap that can be made up for via homework) and more to prevent collusion of trades among friends trying to help one another. That latter issue is much more of an ethical quandary.
KC Joyner (4:41 PM)
Well, not exactly a quandary, but it is the more dangerous ethical issue in the fantasy football world.
Ray Rice (40 Fantasy Points!!)
Its gonna happen
KC Joyner (4:42 PM)
For a prediction like that, you have to send your name over. Got to take credit for it if it happens and take the heat if it doesn't.
please and thank you. trade Peyton Manning and Amendola (or Mike Williams South) for Orton and Reggie Wayne? prospective trade partner has Flacco to start this week, so he should be ok there.
KC Joyner (4:43 PM)
The QB value is similar, but you would be getting the upside of a great WR. I'd make that trade.
Drew (can't wait to leave work)
If gates plays injured, do i start him over any of the following: Roy E, Jabar, or Knox? (Flex spot in a PPR). THANKS!
KC Joyner (4:45 PM)
Glad to help make the last few minutes of work more enjoyable (just don't let your boss know this chat is lowering your productivity!). Start Roy E. in either case - his matchup is favorable and you won't have to worry about how much the injury will impact Gates.
Steve (Rochester NY)
Favre over Kolb though right?
KC Joyner (4:45 PM)
The Titans defense has been very bad in coverage this year, but losing Jackson really hurts. Favre would have to be the choice.
Matt (The Land of AWESOME)
Who does V Davis cover most this weekend Ward or Wallace?
KC Joyner (4:47 PM)
The matchups charts (more info about which can be found at www.thefootballscientist.com - midseason pricing is now in effect!) say he covers Wallace.
Chris (San Francisco)
Hey KC-J2K! With Matthews supposedly coming back this week, would you go with the GB Def or start the Niners Def?
KC Joyner (4:48 PM)
KCJ2K - I'd have to run for 2,000 yards in order to get that nickname! I'll stick with TFS instead. Go with the Niners D - anyone facing the Panthers offense is a must start fantasy defense.
For a long-term replacement for Clark at TE, should I look to Celek, Todd Heap (well, this week, anyway) or Daniels?
KC Joyner (4:49 PM)
Celek has been really hit and miss depending on which QB is in the game (he and Vick didn't look to be on the same page). Daniels keeps getting more and more play, so I'd go with him.
Mike (Danbury, CT)
I try to steer clear of boom/bust type players, but would I be crazy for picking up Anthony Armstrong instead of Lance Moore? Moore is a boom/bust player in my book although Im not so sure what to expect from AA (Arn Anderson). Mainly looking to week 8 bye week fillin and want to make the move now in case Armstrong has another solid week. Thanks KC
KC Joyner (4:51 PM)
A reference to the Enforcer (a favorite of mine since his Four Horsemen days) will all but assure a question gets posted. Armstrong has looked surprisingly solid in many ways, so this is a more than justifiable move on your part.
Greg Olson (Chicago)
You may want to check my stats again and NEVER suggest using me when your rep is on the line!
KC Joyner (4:52 PM)
Look, I know Olsen (it is spelled with an "e', not an "o") hasn't posted great numbers this year, but Martz has shown a propensity for using him. Also, some of his bad numbers are due to Cutler having been out for a couple of games. He'll have a more than solid rest of the 2010 season as long as Cutler stays in the lineup.
Jimmy N (Arlington, VA)
Happy Friday chatters. For those of you with bye week issues (INDY, HOU, etc), might I suggest a fellow named"SAGE ROSENFELS". Guaranteed to get no fewer points this week than either Peyton or Schaub!!
KC Joyner (4:54 PM)
Jimmy, not sure if you saw, but one of the chatters was asking if you had made the chat! Glad to see you could make it and many thanks for the fantasy advice (although, just to be clear, starting Rosenfels will all but assure a goose egg this week).
KC Joyner (4:54 PM)
Just want to make sure someone didn't write in next week saying "I started Rosenfels based on the advice you and Jimmy gave me and it cost me a fantasy win!"
Come on Mr. Joyner please help PPR league Wallace or NY steve Smith also TE Winslow or Celek? please please help
KC Joyner (4:56 PM)
Al, I try to get to as many questions as possible, but when over 700 questions come in, it is impossible to get to them all. I'd go with Wallace over Smith and Celek over Winslow (as long as Kolb is the starter this week).
desperation calling....should i got with d.bryant or steve johnson? .5 ppr
KC Joyner (4:57 PM)
Bryant on the off chance that he gets lined up against Aaron Ross. Ross has had a terrible 2010 season and even just one pass against him could equal a touchdown for Bryant.
Lynch Mob (Seattle)
Would you start Lynch vs AZ or Amendola vs TB as a flex in a PPR League, TD's are 6pts??
KC Joyner (4:59 PM)
As much as I like Amendola (have been pitching his talents since very early this year), he's not a TD scorer. Lynch is and that makes him the starter here.
Ryan (San Diego)
Do you just start every Chargers receiver who's healthy enough to play? The Pats secondary is terrible
KC Joyner (5:01 PM)
Pretty much, but you have to take into account the SD receiver injuries as well. Well, it's been fun but it's time to run. Just a quick FYI, you can follow my material on Twitter @kcjoynertfs. Hope to see you all next week!
