KC Joyner (4:00 PM)
Good afternoon! Let's talk some fantasy football!
Hey-what are your thoughts on starting a limited Nicks over Mike Thomas and why?
KC Joyner (4:02 PM)
It all boils down to upside. Thomas' ceiling is about 10 points and realistically he'll probably score only 8 or so. Nicks could easily hit that if he plays anywhere near his earlier level. It's a risk probably worth taking.
Mr. Spock (Vulcan)
Having trouble with my logic and need your help, KC! Should I start Flacco in a comfortable environment against the Texans or red-hot Brady in the wintry possibility that is Chicago? Thanks for your help; live long and prosper!!!
KC Joyner (4:03 PM)
I'm more of a TNG fan than anything else Star Trek but Spock does rule. As great as Brady is, Flacco is the way to go here with that kind of matchup.
Ryan (Germantown, MD)
What's up KC? Glad you're feeling well enough to chat today. The only reason I'm asking this question is because of Steve Smith Norths injury. Should I start him, Steve Breaston or Reggie Bush? Thanks.
KC Joyner (4:05 PM)
Yeah, apologies for missing out on yesterday's chat. Got a nasty head cold that knocked me out of commission. Definitely want to skip Breaston because of the QB issues. Would go with Smith North over Bush as well.
Klinger (M*A*S*H 4077th)
My Unit: Pick 2 or maybe a week 14 flierHavin......Head aches!!Bowe......QB surgeryV-Jax......13 weeks off then gets injuredRoy E. Williams.....Mr. Consistency to youKC - Make the bleeding stop!!!
KC Joyner (4:07 PM)
MASH rules! Used to watch that all the time. Harvin and V Jax would be the way to go out of that group.
KC my friend! I have no question this week. Just wanted to send along my appreciation, as your weekly advice and wisdom has earned me a 1st round bye this week in the playoffs! By the power of Grayskull, YOU HAVE THE POWER!!!!
KC Joyner (4:07 PM)
That is great to hear! Thanks for sharing!
See anything from Kenny Britt that would compel you to start him over Reggie Wayne or Calvin?
KC Joyner (4:09 PM)
Britt and the entire Tennessee offense looked pretty bad last night for a good portion of the game, that is until CJ2K started to get things going. Would probably not start Britt over the other two down the road unless the matchups for Wayne or Megatron were really rough.
Radar O'Reily ((M*A*S*H 4077th))
Normally I would know who will score ahead of time but I need your help in picking one of these WR's? Nicks, V Jackson, or Jacoby Ford
KC Joyner (4:10 PM)
Radar - never has one been so funny without being so funny. Would go with Nicks, although it is worth noting Ford has a ton of upside potential and an incredibly favorable matchup against Rashean Mathis.
Why has Roddy White been virtually matchup proof and Miles Austin hasn't? Is the answer as simple as Austin losing Romo for the season?
KC Joyner (4:11 PM)
Pretty much. Austin has still been very good fantasy point-wise (a lot of double digit games) but he and Kitna just haven't been as connected as Romo and Austin were.
Also a thanks to you and your FFL brethren for the help and laughs this season. Top seed in one league and two-seed in my two others. Now my question. KC, with T.O.'s knee hurting and potential slick conditions in Pittsburgh, would it be wise to have him as my odd man out among him, MoMa and Earl Bennett?
KC Joyner (4:13 PM)
J.B., you have been one of the most consistently chatters both from a humor and a quality of question perspective, so thank you as well! Bennett is the only one to consider over Owens but he's got a tough matchup against the Philly D. Would probably stick with Owens.
Random Character off Mash (too young, sorry...worth a shot to ge
Mr. Scientist! Grab Choice and Starks for my weekly flex decision (Ward,PT and Obo are other flex options in 14 team PPR) or handcuff Turner and MJD w/Snelling and Jennings? Thanks KC!
KC Joyner (4:15 PM)
You should definitely check the show out. The humor is not dated, so it would resonate for a contemporary viewer in the same way it did when it back then. Not a big fan of the handcuff strategy for multiple starters, but MJD and Jennings would be an exception against the Oakland run D.
KC, you've come through HUGE for me many times this year, thank you kindly. I'm considering benching Ray Rice for a newly resurrected Run DMC. My logic is it's more likely that the Raider sees the end-zone. Do you concur?
KC Joyner (4:16 PM)
Glad I could help! Rice should see the end zone a lot as well, as the Houston D is quite the fantasy point sieve. You really can't go wrong either way but if Rice has been your go to guy this year, it's probably wise to stick with him.
Dominic (the office)
To go along with the earlier brady question. Orton vs. zona or brady?
KC Joyner (4:18 PM)
Haven't checked out The Office much. Looks like a really funny show but also looks somewhat derivative of Dilbert, and I'm a big Dilbert fan (pointy-haired boss is the funniest!). Orton went through a coaching change and that is something one should avoid if possible. Brady makes that possible so go with him.
Henry Winkler (Milwaukee)
Looking at my Bronz Fonz statue here in Milwaukee. Can you believe Milwaukee gave me a statue? Heyyyyyy Who should I sit this week, need 3? R Rice, L Blount, F Jackson, M Bush.
KC Joyner (4:20 PM)
Fonzie was cool and well deserving of a statue. Tough call on the picks, would probably sit Bush because of DMC.
Ale (Long Beach)
Hey KC!! I have a first round bye... for the first time. Just thought to say hi. I don't have a question.
KC Joyner (4:21 PM)
Been getting a few of these today! Big time congrats to all who got a bye this week!
Jimmy N (Col Blake's plane)
KC my main man- as we enter the fantasy playoffs we really could have used your SAGE advice yesterday in a chat!! Good thing I got off to a good start without you. Do I dare sit Larry Fitz this week for Sidney Rice??
KC Joyner (4:22 PM)
Colonel Blake's plane - man, I hope your future is brighter than that, Jimmy! Sitting Fitz would make sense given the Cards QB situation.
Hot Lips (Mash 4077)
What is your view relative to keeping Mannignham with the infusion of Nicks & Smith? I am sure they will be eased into the process but is Mannignham worth the projected 14 points this week under these new circumstances? I also have Wallace, Welker and Thomas in the mix.
KC Joyner (4:24 PM)
Manningham's metrics were better when he was playing as a #3 WR. He'll lose some targets but should make up for a lot of that with better production when he is targeted. Would start Welker over him for certain and probably over Wallace given Ben is banged up.
Common Sense (NOT KC)
Tough call to sit Michael Bush? A tough call is me not eating the cake for my boss's b-day!!
KC Joyner (4:25 PM)
OK, it's a tough call relative to the fantasy football world!
Frank the Tank (College)
WE'RE GOING STREAKING!! Cutler in the wind and snow or Orton with a new coach?
KC Joyner (4:26 PM)
Streaking in this kind of weather? You are a brave fan. Take Orton in this case.
Na-nu Na-nu... Shazbot!Would you start Boldin over Lloyd? kay-o
KC Joyner (4:28 PM)
Mrs. Scientist saw that show on TV recently and we watched an episode - still pretty funny today. Both Boldin and Lloyd are listed as must starts on the TFS charts but Boldin is listed a bit higher, so go with him.
Gorman (Baltimore, MD)
KCJ, Ive got a fever baby... and the only prescription is more pepperoni rolls! Should I be Wacco for Flacco this week against Houston, or was his massive choke last week a bad sign?
KC Joyner (4:30 PM)
This bug seems to be going around, but glad to see you could make it even when under the weather, Gorman! Stick with Flacco, as Houston is the just the medicine he needs.
Go Ducks! I am playing against Phillip Rivers in the playoffs this weekend. Since Rivers has nobody else to throw to due to injury, should I play Floyd over Miles Austin?
KC Joyner (4:32 PM)
Been watching the Ducks a lot this year for the college football articles - they are a very talented and highly entertaining team. Should be a great BCS title game. Really like Floyd's matchup but Austin's matchup could be just as compelling if Samuel is out. Play Floyd if Asante starts, Austin if he doesn't.
Brian (Receiver/Flex He**)
You are the only one on here that I take Fantasy advice from! Which 3 would you start? Nicks, B. Marshall, Shonne Green, Brandon Jacobs, Robert Meachum. Only 1 RB can go... Thanks and have a Happy Holidays!
KC Joyner (4:34 PM)
Same to you and to everyone here! Marshall is a definite sit and Greene would be the other choice to sit.
Burt Campbell (Soap)
I'm invisible right now but I'll be reappearing soon. With our playoffs being two weeks per round, how crazy an idea is it for me to start Ben Watson over Antonio Gates this week (I'm kind of crazy anyway)?
KC Joyner (4:35 PM)
I have been kicking around picking that show up on DVD - liked it a ton back. Gates should always be started as long as he is playing.
Before we get too deep into the chat, I'd also like to thank the regulars who ask some great questions (which actually help me as well) and for their humor. It's a great way to end the week.
KC Joyner (4:36 PM)
I'll second that remark. There is hardly a week that goes by where I nearly fall out of my chair at least once because of how funny some of the questions are. It is a highlight of my week and I cannot thank everyone enough for that!
Coach Johnson (North Dallas )
KC, If you moved any slower, you'd be going backwards!...PPR Flex...pick 2 from Manningham, Witten, Choice, Stewart & Crabtree
KC Joyner (4:38 PM)
Just got that movie for someone who said they hadn't seen it - it's hilarious and an insightful (if very dark and cynical) view on the world of pro football. Witten and Crabtree are the ways to go there.
So if I am boring you won't answer my question? lol. Need two: S.Rice, Nicks, V.Jax, Fitz, or Floyd? Thanks
KC Joyner (4:41 PM)
Humor does tend to rule the day when it comes to which questions get posted, but let's change it up a bit for a second! No on Fitz due to the QB issues. No on V Jax due to his coming off of an injury. Nicks could be in the same boat but at least he's got a season's worth of production to prove where he might be at. Go with Rice and Nicks.
Mike Vick (Still Lucky?)
How you like me now?
KC Joyner (4:42 PM)
From a fantasy football perspective, never gave up on Vick. From an on-field perspective, the season isn't over yet. And don't forget that he's thrown some ints now, so that part of the article was spot on.
And here I thought you were edumicated.... Harvin is Doubtful. Mr.KC, once again a pleasure to read your evaluations. I need 2 WR's out of: Bowe, S.Rice, Floyd, Marshall and S.Moss. Also in need of 1 RB: Ivory, BJGE, Torain. Thanks.
KC Joyner (4:43 PM)
Patryk, I'll admit to having been a bit under the weather and that I woke up just a few minutes before the chat. Didn't see the latest injury reports, so if the word on Harvin is that he is doubtful, that obviously changes the advice. Regarding the question, would go with Rice, Floyd and Ivory.
Question - do you continue to see old questions, or do we need to ask more than once to be sure you see it? Need one flex starter from Winslow, Amendola, Driver, Boss, Starks or Marcedes Lewis
KC Joyner (4:46 PM)
The questions do rotate and they go by fast (only 15 at a time show up on a page) so posting more than once definitely helps the chances the question gets posted. Only thing to note is constant posting (where the question shows up multiple times on the page) are all but certain to not get posted. Tough call on the question, would probably go with Amendola.
with cassel not playing...wont the chargers put 8 in the box to stop the run, and possibly, maybe...bowe will get a good handful of targets and possibly maybe, hopefully he will get some yards and a td???? or am i wrong?
Robert (Huntsville, Al)
I coined the term, "He Brodie Croyle'd that one" whenever someone over throws a wide open receiver. My question is, can I still say that this Sunday when it's actually Brodie throwing it???
KC Joyner (4:48 PM)
Posted these both as they are somewhat related. Bowe is a great talent but it is hard to trust his fantasy prospects against a tough D with either a backup QB or an injured starter. That's why the recommendations have been going in other directions.
Jack White (Everywhere)
FYI - "Antonio Gates (questionable, foot) sounded more guarded about his playing status Friday after missing another practice."I don't know. It's rough. I couldn't go today," said Gates.""
KC Joyner (4:49 PM)
Thanks for the heads up. That's the big question mark for Gates pretty much every week anymore. Makes it tough for his fantasy owners, that's for certain.
Would you play Eli or Schaub this week?
KC Joyner (4:50 PM)
I love it when a plan comes together! Eli's the higher rated QB on the TFS charts, so he's the choice.
Father Mulcahy (M*A*S*H* 4077th)
I've had constant issues with having my best players on the bench this year; what are your thoughts picking two from BJGE, Maclin, and Mike Wallace.
KC Joyner (4:52 PM)
They really made good use of the father in that show. He could have been a throwaway caricature of a man of the cloth, but they did him justice both from a humor and a character perspective. The idea on Wallace is that his QB is hurting and that could limit his chances for a productive game. Go with Law Firm and Maclin because their QB situations are in better shape. Only caveat would be the weather in Maclin's case.
KC Joyner (4:53 PM)
If it is really snowy and windy (as many chatters are suggesting it might be), then it would be Wallace over Maclin.
Big Bird (Sesame Street)
Got a big match up against Cookie Monster. Austin or Wallace
KC Joyner (4:55 PM)
My kids get a kick out of Cookie Monster. To paraphrase him, A is for Austin, that's good enough for me! (and that is assuming that Samuel will be out of the game with an injury).
Okay I'll ask another week since I was wrong last week and now 6 out 7 times. Should I go Big Ben or Eli? All rankings seem to say Ben but a smart man once told me to always play the healthy guy.
KC Joyner (4:56 PM)
It was rough watching Eli hand the ball off all last week, but he's got some WR help likely coming back this week. That was why he didn't throw more often but that likely won't be the case this week. Start Eli.
VJax said today that "It feels good and He's confident he'll play." Does that change Floyd ?
KC Joyner (4:58 PM)
The take on Jackson is that he felt good and confident a couple of weeks ago and then ended up on the sideline almost immediately. The percentages always say take a healthy player over an injured one and in this case that means take Floyd over Jackson.
Klinger (M*A*S*H 4077th)
How does Patryk get 3 questions answered??Roy Williams or Bowe??
KC Joyner (5:00 PM)
Had to do with his question about Jackson more than anything - I try very hard to answer questions from as many chatters as possible. Williams, as he has a healthy QB. Bowe may prove this idea wrong for a week, but injured/backup QBs are a high risk proposition.
Average Joe (Middle America)
Good question Klinger. Patryk got 3 questions today and seems to get a question in EVERY chat. Is ESPN Pro-Poland or Anti-Everywhere Else?
KC Joyner (5:01 PM)
And now most of the questions are asking about Patryk instead of about fantasy football! You guys are hard to please!
this week at least... i take it you mean me over wallace?
KC Joyner (5:03 PM)
Yep. Again, this head cold is still with me, so apologies if any of the answers were garbled in any way. Well, it's been an entertaining hour but it's time to run. You can follow all of the TFS material on Twitter @kcjoynertfs. Hope to see you all next week!
