Dan Arritt (3:59 PM)
Hi again from sunny Southern California!! The Kings play St. Louis in a few hours and will look to keep their momentum after that great win Monday night at Detroit. Fire away with any questions!
Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)
What do you think is the Perfect Outdoor Stadium for the Winter Classic?
Dan Arritt (4:01 PM)
How about Lambeau Field, or even Michigan Stadium? The Wolverines filled that thing up for an NCAA game last week, the NHL should surely be able to pack the house.
Jonathan (Huntington Beach)
Is that true the Blues will be without Erik Johnson tonight?
Dan Arritt (4:03 PM)
That's the word from St. Louis. Not good for the Blues, who are already dead last in the Central Division and have scored the fewest goals of any time in the Western Conference.
Jerry (San Dimas)
When will Bernier get another shot in goal?
Dan Arritt (4:07 PM)
Just heard that Bernier will start in goal Saturday at Nashville. You had to figure he'd start that one, or on Sunday in Chicago. He hasn't played in a couple weeks because Quick has been so hot, but this will be a good chance to earn back some trust against a good Nashville team.
How does the addition of Sturm help this team?
Dan Arritt (4:08 PM)
At this point, he's just a body. When a player comes back from knee surgery, especially his second one in two years, you never know if he'll regain his step. And let's face it, speed is one of the strengths of Sturm's game and it's what the Kings need most at forward right now.
Dough Boy (Santa Monica)
Which team is this? The won that started 12-3, or the one that couldn't score against the Ducks???
Dan Arritt (4:12 PM)
Hey Dough Boy, I'd say the answer lands somewhere in the middle. I don't believe the Kings are experienced enough at forward or in the net to survive a long playoff run, but they certainly have the talent to get into the party. I think they're still two or three years away from being legitimate SC contenders.
Jeff W. (Detroit)
WHAT WAS THAT U GUYS LAID ON THE WINGS MONDAY?
Dan Arritt (4:15 PM)
That was, pure and simple, the Kings best all-around effort this season. Not just Quick's 51 crazy saves, but five goals? Against the Wings? It looked like they took out their frustration on the Blues last night. Anytime you can beat Detroit by five goals, it's a feather in your cap....and the Kings had two days off to enjoy it!
How come you guys don't cover the Kings as much as the Duckies??
Dan Arritt (4:18 PM)
Good question, Keith. I think the execs want to cover the teams as close to Staples Center as possible, and keep tabs on the rest. The OC Register does a great job covering the Ducks anyway.
How is Matt Greene doing? He looked like he got hurt last game?
Dan Arritt (4:22 PM)
Just got word that Matt Greene will not play tonight. Apparently, he's not feeling well and it seems related to the big check he took the another night against Detroit. It hasn't been announced as some sort of a concussion (and probably never will be), but it has all the signs of one. A lot of times, you feel OK in the hours after experiencing a brain shake, but then the fogginess just seems to linger (and then the headaches).
Simon (W. Hollywood)
Bummer about Greene...how do you think TM will compensate?
Dan Arritt (4:25 PM)
Looks like Davis Drewiske will slide over and play with Alec Martinez. Keep an eye on that pair. DD has been a healthy scratch of late, and Martinez has only played in a bout 20 NHL games.
When do you think Marco will make his debut?
Dan Arritt (4:27 PM)
I have a feeling it won't be until after the Kings return from this road trip. If I had to guess, I'd say next Thursday, the 23rd, against Edmonton. Think of it as an early Christmas gift.
Dan Arritt (4:28 PM)
That's it, I'm out. Enjoy the game this afternoon as the Kings go for two in a row!
