Mark "Guru" Garrow (4:45 PM)
Sorry for being late ladies and gentlemen...in my travels some days it's just not worth waking up..lol...so here we go let's get this partaaayyy started.
this team show me money 18,17,24,48,29,20,2,6
Mark "Guru" Garrow (4:46 PM)
Not a bad team Dave..but 17 record at NH spotty...think you can do better there..I also think you need the other Busch brother on your team this week.
Bill Scott (Lake Summerset, Illinois)
Hell-o Mark, I'm really excited about my chances in "Fantasy Cup". I wish you had come through with this type of "Fantasy League" My question, are the powers at ESPN talking to you at all about being a part of the team on TV? All of Y'all on this chat should help make this happen! Mark, your radio work on PRN has been great. When measuring the options for ESPN's TV coverage I don't see how you should be left out. Go Get'em! Thanks, Bill
Mark "Guru" Garrow (4:47 PM)
Thanks for the kind words Bill and I'm still working on my own fantasy game so don't despair there.
Is Clint Bowyer with his two wins a good option this week even though he has struggled lately?
Mark "Guru" Garrow (4:49 PM)
I think he could be Tyler...I think we really need to see how qualifying and practice turn out..Bowyer has a lot of confidence coming to NH but we need to see if he can overcome some of the negative mojo he's been dealing with lately. I have him ranked pretty high because my guess is that he should be in pretty good shape.
Don (Kenosha, Wi)
Please pick one in each group, (18 48)(29 99)(11 14 24)(6 27)(2 20)
Mark "Guru" Garrow (4:51 PM)
Here we go Don...18...29....24 in close call over Stewart....6 has been on a roll lately...and so has the 2...If Kurt Busch is running well at NH and I expect he will then the 2 will be right behind him as he has been the last couple of months, making Keselowski even stronger choice in my opinion.
I like Kurt Busch this week with this being such a sort race qualifying will be important and he has been the best qualifier this year.
Mark "Guru" Garrow (4:52 PM)
Qualifing is a pretty big deal at Loudon because it is so darn hard to pass. I think Kurt's going to be good in practice, qualifying and the race and is my number one pick this week.
What do you think of Mark Martin's struggles this year?
Mark "Guru" Garrow (4:54 PM)
It's hard to put a finger on that deal, but he could be a science project from week to week. Mark's not going to be back at Hendrick next season and crew chief Lance McGrew will slide back into another job at HMS when Kenny Francis comes over to join Kasey Kahne..Again, hard to tell what the problem is, but 5 is just not running like the 24 that comes out of the same shop.
Guru - sell me on Brad k up at 12th on your list this week
Mark "Guru" Garrow (4:56 PM)
Didn't BradK look strong at Kentucky...I think you can count on him to run six to ten places behind teammate Kurt Busch and I think Kurt will be running up front. Same kind of deal is going on now at Roush Fenway. Once they got Edwards and Kenseth going then David Ragan started getting it together. Same thing for Busch and Keselowski.
Mark "Guru" Garrow (4:56 PM)
By the way here is my top-30 pre-race rankings.....1.Kurt Busch2.Kyle Busch3.Jeff Gordon4.Kevin Harvick5.Jimmie Johnson6.Clint Bowyer7.Denny Hamlin8.Tony Stewart9.Ryan Newman10.Dale Earnhardt, Jr.11.Carl Edwards12.Brad Keselowski13.A.J. Allmendinger14.Jeff Burton15.Juan Pablo Montoya16.David Ragan17.David Reutimann18.Greg Biffle19.Matt Kenseth20.Kasey Kahne21.Joey Logano22.Mark Martin23.Martin Truex, Jr.24.Paul Menard25.Regan Smith26.Marcos Ambrose27.Jamie McMurray28.Brian Vickers29.Bobby Labonte30.Landon Cassill
Bill Pickle (Beantown)
Bowyer has had 2 bad weeks in a row. Does he turn it around this week. He loved NH last year.
Mark "Guru" Garrow (4:58 PM)
I think he does Bill. Loudon is one of his favorite tracks and this team knows they need a good performance so I think the 33 comes through.
good afternoon guru. whos the best pick out of these drivers. 48-18-11-24-99-14-22 thanks and good luck to ya almighty one
Mark "Guru" Garrow (5:00 PM)
I think Danny it's a toss-up between the Busch brothers...I've got Kurt ranked ahead of Kyle by the thinniest of margins..Kyle's been the hottest driver on the circuit the last four or five weeks and Kurt's been right there and has some solid Loudon numbers.
hey Guru. I got Hotpass's for this weekend!!! Any suggestions? Is there a dress code in the pits like to flip flops?
Mark "Guru" Garrow (5:01 PM)
There used to be a dress code but now a more casual deal is allowed...not sure what it is though and you might want to check it out before heading to the track in flip flops...I'll say this I'd want something like at least a sneaker to walk around the garage and pit road for safety and ease of transport.
My early team is 99, 22, 2, 20, and 6. What tweaks should I make? I know Carl struggles at Loudon, but I could see him having a good weekend.
Mark "Guru" Garrow (5:02 PM)
On any give weekend Kevin Carl could have a strong race but I'm not sure I see it happening this weekend..I'd feel better about your team if you traded 99 for the 18.
WILL JJ YELEY (FILLING IN FOR KVAPIL) START AND PARK.PICK 2 PLEASE;MEARS, GILLILAND, CASSILL, OR YELEY.. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP!
Mark "Guru" Garrow (5:03 PM)
If Yeley makes the race, it looks like he'll get to run it...Among those four Karl, I'd lean towards Cassill.
Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)
Who do you think will win the New England 200 & the Lenox Industrial Tools 301 at New Hampshire?
Mark "Guru" Garrow (5:04 PM)
Kyle Busch and then Kurt Busch.
Mark "Guru" Garrow (5:04 PM)
Back at ya Mike P in Danbury.
GURU, Does the crew chief change for Biffle make an immediate positive change? While 14th in points isn't terrible, it seems a bit disappointing to a fan of "The Biff". By the way, how is your back? Hope it is improving daily. Thanks as always for all of your hard work.
Mark "Guru" Garrow (5:06 PM)
It's hard to say with what will happen with Biffle..crew chief change kind of surprised me because he's not that far off from being respectable enough to make the Chase as it is. Thanks for the thoughts on the back, but didn't get a good report from my latest MRI.
Nick Rolando (Orlando)
Mark, I have for Y!: 48-39-88-78 and ESPN: 24-14-42-43-78 for pre-lim. Should I trade the 33 for the 39 or 88 on Y!? Also, too Mark I got a gig at a golf store so if you need some equipment/lessons let me know.
Mark "Guru" Garrow (5:08 PM)
Nick I might trade Bower for Dale Jr. on Y team...as for ESPN not bad..but I think any team without at least one of the Busch brothers might be a mistake.
Rick ma [via mobile]
Guru, i thought this stretch of races would be the 42 teams chase push but after getting run off the track at sonoma and busted for speeding under caution and in the pits by his self saturday. Dumb! Do i jump off the wagon?
Mark "Guru" Garrow (5:09 PM)
I'm off 424 for New Hampshire but probably back on at the Brickyard Rick.
tommy knudson (chicago)
hello guru , was wondering if you could help me out with advice. i need 2 drivers of these options 99-17-16-48-24-22-11-18-14-29 i was thinking 29-18 but wanted ur insight if you can. thanks alot for the time and see ya sunday bud.
Mark "Guru" Garrow (5:10 PM)
Again, Tommy I like the 18 and 22 to headline on Sunday...29 will have a good day too, but just see both of the Busch brothers being better.
guru how are you guy, what do you think of these B drivers for my yahoo league. 33-39-88-4 . should i take any out and replace them with one of these drivers.20-56-31-5-42-1-00-43 or do i leave my original 4 in there. thanks guru your help as always golden.
Mark "Guru" Garrow (5:11 PM)
Danny I think your list of B drivers is better than what you listed below..
I am surprised you do not have more love for Denny since he has the best finishing average of any driver over the last 10 races...7.6
Mark "Guru" Garrow (5:15 PM)
I'd have more love for Denny if he was running a little stronger...This team still has not found their stride yet..He hasn't shown nearly the kind of dominant performances he did a year ago. I like the 11, but I'm not in love with him.
LOTS OF RUMORS ON THE CARL EDWARDS GOING TO GIBBS.. I THINK HE WILL STAY. YOU?
Mark "Guru" Garrow (5:18 PM)
Karl the longer this gets stretched out the more likely it is he's leaving Roush. I'd be surprised if that happens but some of the numbers I've been hearing about that Edwards has been offered to go over to Gibbs are pretty mind blowing...A hefty signing bonus is said to be his if he wants to drive a Gibbs Toyota..What Roush has going for him is that Carl is in the middle of a title fight he could win and Carl doesn't want to upset the apple cart..Roush is also the guy who gave him his big break...but it is no longer a gimme Edwards stays.
guru how do u see 48 doin this weekened this guys gotta go to victory lane sooner r later. and this week his chances gotta be high
Mark "Guru" Garrow (5:20 PM)
Dave I have Jimmie fifth in my pre-race rankings and that means with a break or two he's got a chance to win. He's had a pretty good record at NH so it won't be surprise if he runs up front Sunday.
What do you think of 22,24,48,00, and Gilliland for Loudon?
Mark "Guru" Garrow (5:26 PM)
Not bad...you can make a good arguement for each one of those four having a strong run. Gilliland is still a top-30 car and is down on horspower.
Mark - The way I see it Cousin Carl will go where the money is. If everything is equal he will stay at Roush but I suspect that Home Depot will be more than willing and able to put up a bunch of cash. They remember the championships with Smoke and want it back to counter Lowes and the 48!
Mark "Guru" Garrow (5:27 PM)
Home Depot and Toyota, especially the Japanese automaker, are ready to write checks as big as they have to be.
Mark "Guru" Garrow (5:29 PM)
Well folks that's going to do it for today. I sincerley appreciate your patience on what has been a truly crazy day for me. Our Sunday chat from Loudon will take place at 9:00 eastern time and I look forward to hearing from you. Until then have a great week and as always...hate to say it but must "The Guru has left the building!"
