Chat with Hope Solo
Solo won best goal keeper for the 2011 World Cup.
Welcome to SportsNation! On Tuesday, U.S. women's national soccer team goalkeeper Hope Solo stops by to chat about Team USA's performance in the World Cup. Solo and Alex Morgan appeared earlier Tuesday on First Take.
Solo joined the U.S. national team in 2000, after playing for several junior national teams. She was an alternate on the 2004 Olympic team before being named the team's starting goalkeeper in 2005, wtarting seven of the team's next nine matches and earning seven shutouts.
Solo started the first four games of the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup in her first world championship, allowing just eight goals and had three shutouts in a third place finish. She once again got the call as the starting goalkeeper for the 2011 World Cup, helping the United States to a second-place finish in a heartbreaking loss to Japan in the final.
