KC Joyner (3:00 PM)
Good afternoon! Let's talk some fantasy football!
KC you like D.Thomas for the season?
KC Joyner (3:02 PM)
Depends on how one perceives him. He won't be a bell cow and he's not a gamebreaker. Take him as a 200-250 carry/target RB and it means he's a possible flex option.
Who do you like better this week - Matthew Stafford (playing Minnesota) or Cam Newton (playing Jacksonville)? They both could have great games...this is a tough choice for me. Thoughts?
KC Joyner (3:03 PM)
Stafford. As good as Newton has been, he's also been mistake prone (on pace for 32 interceptions this year). Stafford is less likely to make those errors, so he's the option.
KC,Thanks for the great start/sit this week! I drafted Felix Jones and Shonn Green at my #3/#4 backs, but both are underwelming. Do you think either can turn it around this season?
KC Joyner (3:04 PM)
Not so worried about either of those, but Jones' shoulder is a concern. Look for him to get better once that is healed. Greene will keep getting more and more carries as the season progresses and NY realizes they have no passing game to lean on.
KC: So I'm happily going along looking at my rosters trying to formulate questions when I see a 'Q' next to Peyton Hillis' name out of nowhere! Any idea what's going on there?
KC Joyner (3:05 PM)
Can't say I'm privy to any inside info on that one. Just hope Hillis owners had Hardesty as a handcuff.
Josh Freeman was dropped in my 12 team league. How much should I bid him up on waivers?
KC Joyner (3:06 PM)
Can't say I do much in the auction leagues (am aiming to change that next year) but consider Freeman to be valued as a quality QB2 who should get to low QB1 value as the Bucs O line starts to gel.
Chris (Lexington, KY)
Dexter McCluster or DeAngelo Williams this week?
KC Joyner (3:06 PM)
McCluster. He's doing great in the good blocking YPA (GBYPA) metric so far. Look for him to be a poor man's Jamaal Charles the rest of this season.
Tommy (the big easy)
KC i seem to have an excellent problem on my hand i have AP, ray rice, and lesean mccoy can only start 2 and i'm in need of some wr help which rb would u trade? also should i start romo or big ben?
KC Joyner (3:08 PM)
That is a good problem to have. Rice has the most difficult schedule of that trio, so he would be the one to consider trading. Start Ben, as it is always a good idea to start the healthy player when possible.
Is it worth dropping Johnny Knox for Roy Helu in a 10 team ppr?
KC Joyner (3:09 PM)
Sure is. Knox got some targets last week but the Bears seemed to concentrate on giving Sanzenbacher more targets than Knox. Helu is a great Hightower handcuff and should see a solid workload for the rest of the season.
He KC--as a flex in a PPR--E. Decker, F. Jones, or M. Ingram? Thanks and enjoy the wkd!
KC Joyner (3:10 PM)
Would probably go with Decker there. Denver was using him on routes all over the route tree last week, and that means his participation level in this offense should stay high. Happy weekend to you as well!
Trying to buy-low on Chris Johnson. Is offering Hightower, F. Jones, Tate, AND Manningham giving up too much?
KC Joyner (3:11 PM)
Way, way, way too much. Johnson is in a rut and the cost to acquire him should be much less than that.
How does J.B. always get so many questions answered while others can't get any in? Oh and would you drop D. Thomas or Addai in order to keep Charles on your bench for next year?
KC Joyner (3:12 PM)
J.B. gets questions answered because he's here every week like clockwork. Heck, we have a lot of regulars who get their questions posted often, as that type of commitment on their part deserves some recognition from this side. Dropping Addai to keep Charles on the bench for next year would probably make sense.
Chet (San Marcos,Tx)
Hey KC! Got a trade question for you? Darren McFadden for Roddy White and Beanie Wells? I kinda want to but concerned about Beanie's new injury.
KC Joyner (3:13 PM)
Unless your team is in a bad way WR-wise, that's probably a trade to be avoided. McFadden might be having one of those years that wins fantasy leagues, and that kind of player shouldn't be traded unless one is receiving that kind of player in return.
Chris (Nashville, TN)
I just received my replacement Samsung last night( order 35030 ), I love the Tv, but again, there is a BIGGER dark spot on the middle of the screen and another one in the same area as the other one. I don't know what is going on, but I would just like to receive a functioning Tv w/o any issues. You guys have been great with support, so no complaints there. I can send you pictures of the defects on this Tv again. What is the next step? Thank you for your time.
KC Joyner (3:14 PM)
Believe it or not, completely off topic questions like this come through in every chat. Very weird.
Jimmy N (Arlington)
KC my man, my team has been bit hard by the injury bug and I need some SAGE advice. Decker or McCluster in the flex this week?
KC Joyner (3:15 PM)
Jimmy N, great to hear from you again! Go with Decker if only because McCluster's workload is still a bit undefined. And have a SAGACIOUS weekend!
Jay Cutler did not sell out his OLine...what nonsense. This is just more about the media's hatred of the guy.
KC Joyner (3:16 PM)
Posted this question just to point out how dominant Forte has been even with all of the O line issues. He's like McFadden in that he will win some fantasy teams their league titles this year.
John (Cleveland, OH)
I recently completed a trade and I'd like to know if this was a good decision on my part. Note, I have Michael Vick as my starting QB. I traded away Greg Jennings, Matt Forte, and Kevin Kolb. In return, I received Lesean Mccoy, Desean Jackson, Plaxico Burress, and Eli Manning(as a back-up to Vick). Like to know your take.
KC Joyner (3:17 PM)
If Burress were any good, it would be a win deal, but since Burress is probably not going to amount to much (his TD came against a fifth-string CB who has since been released), it's a push.
Would you trade any 2 of Benson, Addai and D. Thomas for Brandon marshall or Nicks or is that too steep a price?
KC Joyner (3:18 PM)
Addai and Thomas for either of those two would be a quality deal.
J.B., if you want answers to why Hillis has a "Q" by his name...I suggest reading the Stephania chat.
KC Joyner (3:18 PM)
Good advice. Reading Stephania's chats and articles is always a good idea.
Been awhile KC! With Manningham doubtful this Sunday would you bench Eli for Henne?
KC Joyner (3:20 PM)
Hello again! Good to have you back in the chat. That's a close call, would probably still say go with Eli.
Eric: I did and did and this was late-breaking news. Come on, man, give me a LITTLE credit.
KC Joyner (3:21 PM)
Had to post this to let everyone know J.B. is on the ball.
Would you flex Santana Moss over Gore?
KC Joyner (3:22 PM)
Sure would. Moss is rated fifth on the TFS start-sit charts. He's an absolute must start and that ranks him higher than Gore. Quick note - more info about the TFS start-sit charts can be found at www.thefootballscientist.com (only site plug of the chat).
Does Fred Davis completely eliminate Cooley as having any viability moving forward?
KC Joyner (3:22 PM)
For at least the short-term, he sure does.
hillis was sent home sick. from one of the espn tweets
KC Joyner (3:23 PM)
For those asking about Hillis. Not sure what the situation is (hard to check on things during a chat) but am assuming this is accurate.
I have 1 spot remaining for my WR and I looked at the rankings and the 3 I need to choose from are all together (32,33,34) who should I start? Decker, henderson or Julio Jones? keep in mind I have Lloyd also on my team and starting
KC Joyner (3:24 PM)
Henderson's got a much better matchup, so he's the option here.
Do you prefer Ingram or Pierre this weekend and the rest of the year?
KC Joyner (3:24 PM)
Just broke down the NO week 2 game last night and was definitely more impressed with Ingram.
Do you think I should aim to trade Mike Tolbert while his stock is still somewhat high? I was offered Colston for him!
KC Joyner (3:26 PM)
Tolbert's stock could drop because of his mistakes last week and because Mathews is outplaying him big time (check out this week's TFS Pass Plays article on Insider for more specifics). Colston might be a good option but it's a risk to trade for injured players. If there is a way to get a healthy player for him, that would be a good way to go.
Justin (San Diego)
I am trying to trade Stafford for a receiver, I have Brees too. What kind of return should I expect?
KC Joyner (3:27 PM)
Absolute top of the line value. Don't accept anything less than Andre Johnson-type WR value.
KC, Do you ever fake injury in the chatroom? Miles Austin's injury has left me a hole at flex. Do I go with Dezmond Briscoe, Bernard Berrian, or Ryan Grant?
KC Joyner (3:28 PM)
I'll plead the fifth on that one! Grant is on the best offense, so he's the way to go.
Fred Jackson or Frank Gore?
KC Joyner (3:29 PM)
Jackson. The Bills run blocking was very good last week (although it has to be taken with a bit of salt because of who they were playing).
Tate Owner (DC)
I own both Fred Jackson and Tate. The Foster owner has offered me him straight up for Jackson, should I take this deal?
KC Joyner (3:30 PM)
Foster for Jackson and you already have Tate, right? If that's the deal, make it.
Bobby (Madison, WI)
ArianFoster/Ben Tate or CJ2K? Big Ben or Matty Ice? Thank you.
KC Joyner (3:31 PM)
Foster/Tate, as CJ2K is just not his usual self right now. Ryan rates higher than Ben on the TFS start-sit charts, so he's the option there.
Hakeem Nicks has a tough matchup this week and his team looks in trouble at his position. Is he matchup proof, or should I try Julio Jones vs Tampa?
KC Joyner (3:32 PM)
Hakeem is pretty much matchup proof, and he's due to face Asomugha, whose coverage skills are somewhat overrated. Jones has tough matchup of his own, so start Nicks.
How do you feel about Jordy the rest of year?
KC Joyner (3:33 PM)
He'll eventually win the starting WR role from Donald Driver.
Start one, bench one, trade one: Mathews, Hightower, Starks. I overdrafted RB this year and my speculative picks seem to be paying off.
KC Joyner (3:34 PM)
Tough call. Would start Hightower for now (although that could change as Mathews starts getting more of Tolbert's carries). Would bench Mathews and trade Starks.
Do you think Ben Tate will continue to get the ball in Houston? Especially when Foster comes back?
KC Joyner (3:34 PM)
Foster will still be the bell cow as long as he is healthy.
Need some help with a RB2 and Flex. Pick 2 out of Dan Thomas, Brandon Jacobs, Mark Ingram or Willis McGahee. Tough choice for me, no standouts and no real slouches...
KC Joyner (3:36 PM)
Those are tough options. Would go with Jacobs and McGahee.
Mike (San Diego)
KC, Lord of the Rings, I've got Rodgers as my QB and was lucky to snag Stafford to back him up. Given Rodgers mediocre starts against the Bears, do I dare start Stafford? What does your magic potion say Stafford will do this weekend?
KC Joyner (3:37 PM)
I've always been partial to Gandalf - YOU SHALL NOT PASS! Think that should be a mantra of some great defense. They are both rated as absolute must starts on the TFS start-sit charts, so starting Stafford is not a risk.
Rick (irvine, ca)
Please help me out KC... I need "scientific" advice... Who to start... D. Moore, Lance Moore, David Nelson, Julio Jones to go along with Calvin? Also would you start a second over Felix Jones, or Brandon Jacobs at my flex?
KC Joyner (3:38 PM)
Definitely want to help, but this is essentially a three-part question, which is just a bit long for this format. Shoot me the question on Twitter (@kcjoynertfs) and I'll answer it there.
Please KC, I need your help! I have Peterson, Forte AND Tate (embarassment of riches) and can only start 2. Which 2 do I start? (I am leaning Peterson and Tate)
KC Joyner (3:39 PM)
Would have to go with Peterson and Forte. The GB run D is not a strength.
PPR flex this week, I need to go Santana Moss over Reggie Bush and Felix Jones right? The injuries scare me a little.
KC Joyner (3:40 PM)
The rule of thumb is to always start a healthy player over an injured one if all other things are at least equal. Since Moss has a great matchup and is healthy, he's got to be the way to go there.
If any of you folks with these embarrassments of riches are in one of my leagues, I'd be happy to talk trades with you. (Sorry but I had to get that one in, KC et. al.)
KC Joyner (3:41 PM)
One more post for J.B. simply because this made me laugh.
Do you think Titus Young would be a solid WR to pick up? Burleson never seems to stay healthy?
KC Joyner (3:42 PM)
Young played well last week and seems to be acclimating to that offense quickly. He's a good player to stash away if you have room on the roster.
What are your thoughts about Shonn Greene for the rest of the year? Should we be concerned with his awful play early?
KC Joyner (3:43 PM)
As long as he keeps around the 20 rush/reception level (which he was close to last week), all will be fine for Greene. The Jets have a very limited passing game (Holmes and Keller and that's it), so they will have to lean on the running game and that will keep his numbers at/near that 20 mark.
John (Los Angeles)
Perhaps your dental hygienist might have some info about Hillis?
KC Joyner (3:44 PM)
Sir, she is a Redskins fan. She would have some insight on Helu vs. Hightower, but would probably not weigh in on the Hillis situation.
KC Joyner (3:44 PM)
And it is hard to ask her questions when there are dental instruments in one's mouth. Ask at your own risk!
Is it within the realm that AJ Green perform as WR1 this season?
KC Joyner (3:45 PM)
Hard to project that level for him with a rookie at QB. With where most people drafted him, WR2 production (which he should be capable of) would be more than acceptable.
Pete (San Antonio)
Chester Taylor worth a roster spot with Beanie already showing signs of injury
KC Joyner (3:47 PM)
Taylor had the lowest GBYPA of any RB with 100 or more carries last year. Hard to see him as a valuable handcuff at this point.
Ben (Chandler, AZ)
People are going to start imitating J.B. just to get questions answered. I won't do that. Who would you start in a flex out of Pierre Thomas, Jordy, McCluster, or Marshawn?
KC Joyner (3:48 PM)
I need to run some metrics on how many posts everyone gets. I have a feeling that the regulars don't get anywhere near as many posts as it is sometimes suggested that they do. Jordy would be the one to flex out of that group.
Bryon (South Buffalo)
KC, You were always high on Lee Evans when he was with the Bills! Do you think he can still be an IMPACT for the Ravens once he gets healthy? Thanks!
KC Joyner (3:49 PM)
Joe Flacco got double-digit vertical YPA totals out of a bunch of dink/dunk receivers last year. He would be able to replicate that and then some with Evans, but so far it hasn't happened because Evans is slowed with the injury. Once he gets healthy, this combination will put up some points, so hold a roster spot for him if you can, because down the road it will pay off.
0-2, but my team looks awesome on paper, Brees, CJ, Mendenhall, Desean, etc. What gives KC!?
KC Joyner (3:51 PM)
CJ is the biggest disappointment of that group. There are a myriad of reasons he isn't producing as well and it isn't a given he will turn it around. The others should get back to speed quickly, so that 0-2 start should turn around as well.
Ben ((Chandler, AZ))
Thanks for answering the question. Here is one that should help everyone. Who would you target as a buy low? How about a sell high?
KC Joyner (3:53 PM)
More than glad to help! As far as a buy relatively low pick, will mention the same player noted as a buy low pick in this week's TFS Pass Plays Insider article (it is posted every Tuesday morning): Ryan Mathews. He may cost a bit more than most buy lows but as well as he has been playing, he should keep seeing more and more carries as the season progresses.
Pick an underperforming WR on a bad Offense: Bowe or Wayne?
KC Joyner (3:54 PM)
Wayne, if only because the Colts are still, and will probably continue to be, a pass-first offense.
So hold on to Flacco? I was thinking of dropping him for Bradford.
KC Joyner (3:55 PM)
Short-term Bradford is the better pick. If you are in good enough shape to wait Flacco's rough schedule out (he's got the Jets in week 4 and a bye in week 5), keep him instead of going after Bradford.
Jon (Des Moines)
I think these folks complaining about JB are just a little upset he was mentioned on First Take in the past... haha. Anyway, in a deep league where RB's are scarce, would you rather roster Hardesty or Murray?
KC Joyner (3:56 PM)
Did not know JB got mentioned on First Take. That's very cool! Would go with Murray, as he plays on a better offense and doesn't have the injury concerns Hardesty has.
mike(maine) [via mobile]
Do you see Maclin having more games like last weeks, or are him and desean going to flip flop depending on catchup?
KC Joyner (3:58 PM)
Maclin does not fare well when he is faced with having to beat a CB. Give him open field like he had last week and he's a dominant player. That type of player generally will have hot and cold weeks, so expect that type of production from Maclin.
ANDY(Pa ) [via mobile]
Should i drop peyton manning everyone that is in my league is telling me to wait but didnt no if there just saying this because its my first time with fantasy football
KC Joyner (3:59 PM)
Is this a keeper league? If so, maybe keeping Peyton is a good idea, but it would depend on who else is on your roster. If it is for this year only, drop him immediately. Manning will almost certainly not play a down this year.
What's a reasonable RB or WR to expect in return for Newton at this point in a trade?
KC Joyner (4:00 PM)
A good flex player is all I would give up for him. Newton's numbers will drop as defenses get back into synch (check out the Player X article on Insider that talks about how limited most defenses are right now).
My electric toothbrush keeps runing out of batteries. So I bought another and it keeps happening. I can send you pictures and in the meantime could you tell me whether to start Vick or Cam this weekend?
KC Joyner (4:02 PM)
We do it all in the TFS chats. Got a problem with an appliance - no problem, we can fix it! Seriously, it's hard to believe those types of questions are even asked - thanks for turning it into humor! Start Vick over Cam.
Well there should be no more questions from me today. Again, sorry everyone for hogging the chat but I will do my best to limit questions from here on out. Thanks KC and everyone. Your questions and KC's answers were a big help to me. See you next week.
KC Joyner (4:04 PM)
An unneeded mea culpa from J.B., but the thought is appreciated. Well, it's been fun but the kids are home and its time to get some family time in. Three quick notes: The TFS material is always posted on Twitter @kcjoynertfs. Info about the TFS start-sit charts can be found at www.thefootballscientist.com. I'm also participating in the Monday Night Football chats, so check those out and join in if you have some time. Hope to see you all here next week!
