Melissa Jacobs (3:01 PM)
Happy Friday everyone! And extra thanks for joining on this Columbus Day weekend kickoff.Let's get started...
George (Deluxe Apartment (In the Sky))
I just picked up Matt Moore as my bye week QB in a 12 team, two-QB league. His week 9 matchup @KC looks fine, but should I even play him against the Jets in Week 6 (Rivers on bye)? (4 pt TD, but -3 points for INT's and fumbles lost) THANKS!!
Melissa Jacobs (3:03 PM)
Matt Moore against the Jets + -3 for turnovers is not a situation I'd want to be in. Perhaps you can pick up someone with a better matchup. Options?
Melissa Jacobs (3:03 PM)
BTW, the Jets have only allowed 2 passing TDs this season
Is Bradshaw a decent start? Is Jacobs even playing?
Melissa Jacobs (3:05 PM)
Hey Carol,Jacobs is listed as doubtful and has missed 3 straight practices, so full speed ahead with Bradshaw. AB already had already 15 carries a game, even with the platoon, so he's a great play this week.
Well it's easy to not allow TDs when the opposing defense is scoring them on your offense, Ms. J.
Melissa Jacobs (3:06 PM)
Good point, J.B. :)
Non-ppr, need WR2 & Flex from Harvin, D. Moore, McCluster, Meachem, Barber....Trust your choice...Ron
Melissa Jacobs (3:08 PM)
I really like your first two guys, Harvin and Moore. Harvin's done well against AZ, and Moore has a tougher matchup in Houston, but they do allow TDs, which Moore's pretty good at getting.
Joseph (Sacramento, Ca)
Go 49ers! <- legit btw as you know :) I am picking up Aaron Hernandez from waivers (someone dropped them after injury) I also have Gronkowski. Would playing the both of them be advisable or would Hernandez hurt Gron's value. (other receivers I own are Wallace, AJ Green, B Lloyd, S Moss) PPR league and can start 3 receivers of either WR/TE
Melissa Jacobs (3:10 PM)
You had me at 49ers! I don't know if I'd play both, especially against the Jets. I'd stick with Gronkowski, since he's TD hound. (See how Hernandez performs coming back)I like Lloyd this week, as well as Wallace
How come Cutler didn't get more heat for his DWTS appearance?
Melissa Jacobs (3:11 PM)
Ha! Not a bad question. I think we all have ripping on Cutler fatigue. Players are humans and can obviously do what they want on off days. More of an issue is why Lovie Smith gave them Monday off based on how they played vs. Carolina.
Own LaGarrette Blount. Should I be worried this week?
Melissa Jacobs (3:13 PM)
Blount vs. the Niners defensive line is one of this weekend's great matchups. The Niners, particularly Justin Smith, are fierce, and they have yet to allow a rushing TD. But I still think you have to play Blount. Unless you own Arian Foster and MJD
Andi (west chester, pa)
lance moore, jacoby jones, mike williams...have to play two of them. what do you think?
Melissa Jacobs (3:15 PM)
Hey Andi,Jacoby Jones is a must play as Andre Johnson's backup. I'd opt for Williams as well...he's the #1 WR there and has a great matchup in SF.
OK for real here. With the way Brees spreads the ball around and has a different favorite target every week, is it worthwhile to dangle any Saints WRs as trade bait in order to get a more consistent targeted WR?
Melissa Jacobs (3:17 PM)
Not a bad idea. Especially Devery Henderson. He started off the season so well and has tapered off. Might be good trade bait to someone not paying that much attention.
Hey MJ, scraping the bottom of the barrel in a deep PPR for a RB to cure my bye week blues. With a likely shoot out in Atlanta, could Jacquiz Rodgers catch a few screens for me this Sunday night?
Melissa Jacobs (3:19 PM)
Wow, scraping the bottom of the barrel indeed. Any other options? Is Isaac Redman available? Thanks for the questions, Dan!
In a small league with a tough decision: Rivers @Denver or Vick @BUF? Or is it a coin flip?
Melissa Jacobs (3:20 PM)
Wow, that is tough. I've definitely dropped the "play Vick no matter what" mantra but I'd play Vick. Still dangerous and will be airing it out.
Hey Melissa! what's your take on VJax? play/not? and if he does, would u start MFloyd too? or go w/NWashington instead? non-ppr. thanks!
Melissa Jacobs (3:23 PM)
He's questionable with the hammy but my hunch is he plays...and lights it up. Floyd clearly has the better matchup. But Washington is targeted so much more - I'd start him.
How do you think Forte is going to do this week?
Melissa Jacobs (3:25 PM)
He hasn't scored much but every week becomes a bigger part of that offense. And now he's playing with something to prove...worthy of $$$. I bet we see a decent showing, even against Detroit.
Came back like I promised last week. Scoring question. Do you think a pick6 should count against the DST of the passing team? Neither defense or special teams were even on field...
Melissa Jacobs (3:27 PM)
Good question. No, I don't and I've been in leagues where it doesn't. Entirely unfair and not reflective of the defense...but everyone plays by the same rules so you just have to make sure your defense's QB isn't a turnover machine. Can you hear me Sanchez?
who should i start this week, a slow starting Marques Colston against the weak Carolina secondary, or Sidney Rice, coming back strong after missing the first two weeks?
Melissa Jacobs (3:29 PM)
Hey John,I'd start Colston. I know he was only targeted 3 times last week, but Payton has already expressed a desire to get him more involved. And there's simply too much talent there. I could see him breaking out this week.
Mark (San Jose)
Hi Melissa. Great to have you for chat on a Friday. Who do you think is the best fantasy option in TB right now as a WR? Can we expect M Williams to be a bigger factor in the future? Thanks.
Melissa Jacobs (3:31 PM)
Hi Mark,I think this the week Mike Williams breaks out...and if he doesn't that we'll need to reevaluate the TB situation. I thought Winslow would be more of a factor, too. Great to have you join me!
Melissa Jacobs (3:32 PM)
Btw everyone, I know with the bye weeks some of your lineup decisions are made by default, so if you want to throw out anything NFL-related, I'm game!
Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)
What is the Hardest NFC Team that the Pittsburgh Steelers will Face this season?
Melissa Jacobs (3:33 PM)
Let me look at their schedule. Stand by!
Melissa Jacobs (3:34 PM)
Dec. 19th MNF...at SF :)
Stuck in a bad spot due to injuries and bye week. In a non PPR would you start either Moreno or Spiller as a RB2 or pick up Ridley or Redman. But I am in a league with limited amount of waver wire transactions so don't want to pick up someone for one week.
Melissa Jacobs (3:36 PM)
Hi James,I'd definitely go with the latter. McGahee's turned Moreno into a non-factor. Same with Fred Jackson in Buffalo. At least Ridley plays. And Redman could be starting if Mendy can't go Sunday. A gametime decision, by the way.
Please answer my question. (NYC)
Melissa, I am trying to upgrade at qb in ppr league. Can I get Rodgers or Brady for Schaub + any of the following rbs: Fred Jackson, MJD, Steven Jackson or Sproles or Schaub Addai or D. Thomas for Rivers? Thanks.
Melissa Jacobs (3:39 PM)
Hi please answer my question,Think it will hard to move Schaub with Andre Johnson on the mend. But I might make the Schaub/Thomas for Rivers trade, depending on my needs.
Would you trade D. Bowe or hold onto him?
Melissa Jacobs (3:41 PM)
Hi Eddie,He had 100 yards last week and a TD each of the past two weeks. What's not to like?
Joseph (Sacramento, Ca)
Hello again...Are you against playing two players from the same team? like McGahee and Lloyd?
Melissa Jacobs (3:42 PM)
Depends on the team. Needs to be a power scoring team. You need the insurance that both players will at least do something. Lloyd and McGahee, probably not. Gronkowski and Welker, yes.
Hi, Melissa. Need a WR3 this week: Nelson or L. Moore? PPR.
Melissa Jacobs (3:43 PM)
I'd probably go with Moore, just based on matchup. he has a good history against the Panthers.
Please help me!!! Who would you start in the Flex position in a Standard League: R. Wayne (Ind), J. Stewart (Car) or Mike Thomas (Jac)..Thanks!
Melissa Jacobs (3:46 PM)
Hi Benny (aka my Twitter friend)I'd take Wayne, by a hair. That Colts offense is starting to coalesce, ever so slowly. Wayne should get decent targets this week.
Who hates their team more: Adrian Peterson or Brandon Marshall? Talk about wasted talent on crappy teams
Melissa Jacobs (3:47 PM)
Hi Kraul,I'm guessing AP. Had to deal with Favre last year, too
Melissa Jacobs (3:47 PM)
Hank (Columbia, SC)
Hello Melissa! How do you feel about J. Best against Bears defense? Thanks for your help!
Melissa Jacobs (3:49 PM)
Hi Hank,Good question. Scared of Best as a runner this week, but he should still be valuable in the passing game. Even with the bad matchup, he remains a good start.
Ed Hochuli (Chat Ref)
Melissa, you are new, so I'll let that emoticon go, but be warned: Illegal use of an emoticon is a 5 yard penatly.
Melissa Jacobs (3:50 PM)
Thanks Ed. Let's do some bicep curls together sometime!
OK, Ms. J. You own Megatron, Decker, Colston and Jacoby Jones. Megatron is a given but is Colston? Seems tougher than it looks (to me, anyway).
Melissa Jacobs (3:51 PM)
I agree. Colston's probably the smarter move. I'm tempted to say Jones but I think that offense will be as focused on Arian Foster as possible.
WTF? How the heck is Matt Hasselbeck good again? I'm convinced that entire family has sold their soul to the devil because all suck! Thoughts?
Melissa Jacobs (3:52 PM)
Decent protection is always a good thing.
Barry (Uniondale, NY)
Combining your two fortes, do you think that there will ever be a female football league? Why not?
Melissa Jacobs (3:54 PM)
Interesting question. There is a women's professional league now. I know my local DC Divas are pretty dominate. But a league with real salaries and a tv contract? Probably not in any of our lifetimes. Let's get a female ref first!
Melissa Jacobs (3:55 PM)
OK guys and gals, it's been fun. Thanks so much for all the questions...and glad to see the repeat customers. Best of luck this week, and let's do it again next Friday!
