Donte is here for your questions!
How has it been proving people wrong about this team so far this year?
Donte Stallworth (12:35 PM)
It's been good. I think we've started out well, 3-1 at the bye. But it's a long season. We have 12 straight games. It will be brutal. We've started out well. It will be interesting to see how this stretch goes. I think we've done well so far to this point, surprising people outside of the lockerroom. I think we'll continue to do well and get better week by week.
How has it been adjusting to a new team and new offense this year?
Donte Stallworth (12:36 PM)
It's been good. It's been a little tricky with the lockout, not having as much time in the offseason. The fans have been very receptive in the DC area. Coach Shanahan has taken care of the players physically with training camp and practices. I think everybody, we believe in each other. That's an important element to have a successful team.
If you look at the NFC East standings, I bet a lot of people would have thought to see the standings the complete opposite of what they are right now. How do you see the rest of the season playing out in the division?
Donte Stallworth (12:37 PM)
It's going to be tough. I've been in this division before, when I was with Philadelphia. We started out slow and ended up winning the division. We're at the top now, hopefully it won't, but things can change. This is a heated division every week. If we can come out and withstand this 12 straight games the rest of the season, I think we'll be fine.
What's been the key to the quick start so far?
Donte Stallworth (12:39 PM)
I think we've been coming through in the crucial points of the game. In the NFL the teams are so close together, any records good or bad has no impression on the team. We've come in thinking we could win. That's the reason we're 3-1. We've had some tough games.
Scott (Landover, MD)
What do you think the Skins offense needs to do to produce better in the redzone?
Donte Stallworth (12:39 PM)
Hmmm. I think one thing we need to do is limit our penalties. We have had some crucial penalties. Keep the third down yardage to a minimum. And limit the turnovers. If we can do that we'll be able to score more points and not many field goals.
Tommy (top of the world)
first off HTTR!!!! great job i know its your first year with the team but as a long time fan i havent seen the tempo and energy that u guys are playing with right now can u explain the vibe around the team? and also i know your a pretty modest guy but when u get that 1st td with the team give us a little something! Good Luck the rest of the season
Donte Stallworth (12:41 PM)
I think it's a belief in the coaches. In talking to the players from the last few years, before coach Shanahan was there, like Santana, there is a different feel in the lockerroom. I got that when I got there. Guys are hungry, willing to put the work in and ready to prove people wrong. We came in as the underdog and predicted to finish last. That's stirred up guys emotions. The feel of the lockerroom is that we can win games and we come out playing that we can win. That's something that the guys said wasn't there last year.

On a scale of 1 to 10 How intense is your rivalry with the Cowboys
Donte Stallworth (12:42 PM)
Oooh, probably a 12.5. From the outside looking in, I've always known this is one of the biggest rivalries in the NFL. Now that I'm a part of it, it goes back to my college days of Tennessee v. Florida, v. Alabama. The Cowboys fans don't like us and our fans don't like the Cowboys. That's the main ingredient for a rivalry and I don't think that will change soon.
The media speculation about John Beck replacing Rex ratchets up every time he throws an incomplete pass let alone an interception. I think "wins" are one of the most underappreciated statistics in sports. Guys like Ben Roethlisburger, Vince Young and Grossman were winners in college and it carries over to the pros. Do you think Rex is judged too harshly, and is the locker room fully behind him as the starting QB for this team?
Donte Stallworth (12:44 PM)
I think the guys are fully behind him. We know we can win with him. We started out the first quarter of the sesaon 3-1. We know we have room for improvement on offense and defense and special teams as well. We've seen that even though we're 3-1, we could very easily be 1-3. We've been really humble. We're coming in to work every day to try and correct our mistakes and get better. It all starts with the OL and QB and those guys understand that and know that.
Will (San Diego)
Donte, are you like everyone else in being surprised by the slow start Philadelphia has had this season?
Donte Stallworth (12:46 PM)
I think I am. I think I am. With me playing there, I know how that organization works. I think everyone is surprised that they've started out the way they have. But this is the NFL. With how long this season is, any team can catch fire. Green Bay last year. I don't remember how they started, but I don't think it was too hot. But they got on fire and won the Super Bowl. When I was with the Patriots, I think they started 1-3 and then went on to win 18 straight road games. In the NFL, you can't look at the records. Every week is a different matchup of positions. Hopefully the Eagles don't come out and play well against us. I look for them to improve soon, just not too soon, we play them on the 16th.
Scott (Landover, MD)
Do you consider Kerrigan the steal of the draft thus far as I do? Granted he was a 1st round pick but 15 picks went by where the could have had a stud OLB/DE.
Donte Stallworth (12:47 PM)
Yeah, that kid. I knew he was going to be special when I saw what he did against the Giants in the season opener. He avoided a cut block, tipped the ball, found the ball in the air, caught it and scored a TD. You wouldn't expect a guy like that to have awareness like that. When I saw him make that play, I knew he was going to be special. He's now the rookie defensive player of the month. I tell him all of the time that he will be a great in this league if he keeps working at it.
Do you think you guys can remain consistent enough the rest of the season to maintain how you've been playing?
Donte Stallworth (12:48 PM)
Yeah, I think that's the goal. I know a lot of guys have taken this bye week to rest up and heal up. Really look at their play to see what they have to do to get better. I know a lot of focus has been on Rex. I can tell you that there is no other guy more dedicated to their craft then Rex. He's always studying tape to get better. As long as you've got the guy leading your team making those committments to his team, then I think we have a lot to look forward to these next 12 games.
How impressed have you been with the play of your team's defense so far? They've kept you in a lot of games.
Donte Stallworth (12:49 PM)
Yesh. I knew that the defense was going to be better than last year, just for the simple fact that when they put in the 3-4 defense, it takes a while to get used to. They drafted well and they're getting comfortable in that defense. I know the coordinator that Haslett is, he wants to make things uncomfortable for the QBs. They've done that this season.
Donte Stallworth (12:50 PM)
HTTR to the Redskins fans!
