Radi Nabulsi (12:00 PM)
Let's get started folks!
Do you believe Georgia's defense will play better against Missouri than it did against Buffalo in the first half of last Saturday's game?
Radi Nabulsi (12:01 PM)
Absolutely. The defense was embarrassed a bit by that performance and it showed in how they came out in the second half. Buffalo had 19 yards on 18 plays to start the second half. That is what fans were expecting. But the talent and stakes are a lot higher Saturday.
Do you think Mitchell and/or Theus will play this weekend?
Radi Nabulsi (12:05 PM)
I think Malcolm Mitchell will play but it remains to be seen how effective he will be. The question in my mind is do you play him in place of a 100% healthy Damain Swann when Mitchell may only be at 80%? As for John Theus, I would be surprised if he played but there is still a lot of time before Saturday. He was still on crutches yesterday afternoon. That does not bode well.
Radi Will Malcolm Mitchell play this weekend? And can you give us an update on John Theus and Chris Burnette? Did the suffer serious injuries saturday?
Radi Nabulsi (12:08 PM)
I sense a theme. There are a few more asking the same thing.. As for Burnette he said he was fine after the game. He got speared in the sternum basically and you could tell it hurt. But he was all smiles in the lockerrom. I think he will be back.
Tim Loginfill (Toppers, Athens, GA)
If you were going to be stuck on a desert island with 1 in-state '13 recruit, 1 in-state '14 recruit, and an out-of-state recruit who would you choose?
Radi Nabulsi (12:12 PM)
I would take Shaq Wiggins for in-state 2013 and Nick Glass for in-state 2014. Then Tramel Terry of Goose Creek, South Carolina as the out-of stater. I would have Tramel stand on our flimsy raft and hold up our makeshift sail of shirts while Wiggins and Glass talked smack the whole time, filling the sail with a non-stop source of wind. We would be saved in about teo hours.
Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)
Who did the Georgia Bulldogs Replace on the Roster with the Players who went to the NFL?
Radi Nabulsi (12:14 PM)
Freshamn John Theus moved into Justin Anderson's spot at right tackle. Sophomore David Andrews took over for Ben Jones at center. Junior Kenarious Gates slid over into Cordy Glenn's left tackle position. None of them had played tackle for Georgia in a game before this past Saturday.
are you going to be at the Athens airport to see whether Ogletree and Rambo board the plane?
Radi Nabulsi (12:15 PM)
I am just going to assume they don't play and go to a high school game lol. I did think about requesting the travel roster through a FOIA.
Tony (rRichmond, CA)
Did Todd Gurley establish himself as the #1 back or at least guarantee an increased role in the offense with his performance last Saturday?
Radi Nabulsi (12:16 PM)
He is the No. 1 playmaker right now. But you don't get to start if you miss blocks and let your quarterback get sacked. Ken Malcome will start.
Do we have an adequate backup if Theus is out? I know our O line has been a point of concern.
Radi Nabulsi (12:18 PM)
I think so. Xzavier Ward is no slouch and I think Austin Long is really coming, well, along. Ok that was corny and unintentional but I think he would be fine out there. I am not sure why but I am not so worried about Theus being out as I am Mitchell missing time in the secondary again.
Do you honestly think that UGa just played vanilla on offense and defense or do you think they were just going through the motions.
Radi Nabulsi (12:20 PM)
There was some vanilla on defense. That was apparent. But by the players own admission they came out slow and did not expect Buffalo to put up that much of a fight. Lesson learned. Doubt they underestimate anyone again this year.
Why did the UG spread drop to 2? Is there something we should know?
Radi Nabulsi (12:22 PM)
Not that I know if. If I understood Vegas lines at all I would live out there with a friend of mine. I would not be doing a live chat, rather I would be at the Palms pool in the private cabana with a...well I will just stop now. I am only depressing myself.
Judging from Grantham's recent comments about not wanting to divulge your team's injuries - do you think he is the one telling Richt to stay mum on the suspensions of Rambo and Ogletree? Is there any shot they play?
Radi Nabulsi (12:24 PM)
No, I think this is all Richt. And if they were available to play then I think he would annonce it. fter guys have served their time inthe past he has always said that their punishment was over. Why allow a playewrs reputation to continue to take hits if he has srved his suspension? It is a weird situation that I think is being handled very poorly.
Hi Radi, why did GA drop behind FSU ? Neither team has really played a tough opponent.
Radi Nabulsi (12:25 PM)
Because voters are fickle and Georgia did not look like a No. 6 team Saturday. That is my guess.
What kind of positive and/or negative effects if any will Richardson of Missouri's comments have on the game saturday night...?
Radi Nabulsi (12:27 PM)
The players are mum on it-- they were told not to talk about it. But I expect an offensive lineman or two to lay into him and as they part, ask him how he likes "old-man" football. That guy is going to hear about it all day.
I may have missed it, but did JHC play at all last Saturday?
Radi Nabulsi (12:27 PM)
Josh Harvey-Clemons did get in and got to the quarterback. Not too shabby.
AJ (Norcross, GA)
What's your take on the Trenton Brown situation?
Radi Nabulsi (12:30 PM)
The Georgia commit had a great visit to Florida and might open up his recrutiment. I think an official to Georgia will calm all his fears -- he is worried he will be moved to guard in Athens.Of course is he is expecting a promise of a tackle job, then that might never come. I mean I saw Austin Long and Watts Dantzler playing guard. No one is promised a spot on that line. All jobs have to be earned.
Why would Tree miss 2 games for a first failed drug test? A first failed test requires that a player miss 10% of the season, which usually means 1 game, so why all the talk about 2-4 games for him?
Radi Nabulsi (12:33 PM)
Do we know for certain that is what it was? I don't think that we do. Plus we don't know if this is his first. There were rumors of an incident before the Boise State game last year. He did play in that game, but hurt his foot. Maybe he was ready to come back after four weeks. Who knows? Theories abound but Georgia is not saying (They won't BTW).
Andy (Atlanta, GA)
Do you think Rambo and Ogletree are still suspended this weekend?
Radi Nabulsi (12:34 PM)
Nid (Augusta, Ga)
I've heard about Mizzou's offense, but haven't heard anything about their d. Do you think they will be able to handle the balanced Georgia offense?
Radi Nabulsi (12:35 PM)
This is a point I like to bring up. I loike Georgia's chances to put up a lot of points.
Brance (Macon,GA )
Greg Pyke. He is a big boy from what I read. But I did not hear a lot about him this summer. What have you seen from him while in Athens ?
Radi Nabulsi (12:36 PM)
That he is still learning a lot. Big kid with quick feet but just behind the other players who have been at Georgia longer and know what to do. He will be a good one in time.
Can Ward hold up for a whole game, and will we try Austin Long at Right tackle?
Radi Nabulsi (12:39 PM)
Very Interesting question. Ward has been hurt a lot. But then so has Long. My feeling is that they switch in and out a lot. As Richt says, he likes to go with the hot hand. In this case I think Long is going to grab that spot for a while.
Do you like the Dawgs -2 at mizzou? Entertainment purposes only.
Radi Nabulsi (12:39 PM)
Radi Nabulsi (12:39 PM)
Hi Radi, has Coach Richt named the starting RB?
Radi Nabulsi (12:42 PM)
He said they tend to decide that on Thursday but Ken Malcome was the started listed on the depth chart they gave out yesterday. Of Course there are a lot of "OR's" on there. "This player OR that player." Doesn't matter who starts really. Ken started the last game but Gurley got a lotof touches as did Keith Marshall. I think the term starter is overblown when it comes to tailbackes under Richt.
Thoughts on the DE play from last week? Seemed to me to be a big under performance.
Radi Nabulsi (12:44 PM)
Those guys were held a lot. Not trying to come off as a homer but I was looking through the pictures I took and it was pretty blatant. When defensive ends have to keep putting their shoulder pads back inside their jerseys, there is a problem. Penn Wagers was the referee by the way.
I thought in the offseason, Richt promised more starters on special teams. However, on Saturday we saw more of the same old scrubs out there (although Conley did have a nice punt block).
Radi Nabulsi (12:46 PM)
I saw a lot of starters out there. Alomst all of them were scholarship players. I even saw Keith Marshall on punt coverage. Corey Moore blew up a returner and Arthur Lynch almost killed a guy.
Bulldog Roofing (Atlanta)
What is your take ob the student body/faculty during the opener? I heard mixed comments. Were they there early? Diss they leave early?
Radi Nabulsi (12:48 PM)
They showed up late or not at all, booed in the second quarter and it was a ghost town by the middle of the fourth. Not a good showing by the fans. But in their de3fense, the weather was the absolute worst. It was like playing football in the Congo. I wanted to leave too.
rodney (STUD) (Georgia)
Hey Radi will we do more power running to slow the game down till we get healthy on defense??
Radi Nabulsi (12:49 PM)
That has been a Mark Richt/Mike Bobo staple against high powered offenses. No need to change now.
Has Corey Moore play to this point been a let down considering he didn't play last week?
Radi Nabulsi (12:51 PM)
I was expecting more of Moore (sorry) but I would not close the book on him just yet. They guy loves to compete and once he puts it all together I think we will see him as a starter.
Noticed we did not throw to the tight ends Saturday. Do you think this was by design.
Radi Nabulsi (12:52 PM)
Yes. They were in max-protect a lot. New offenscive line plus a great receiving group means not a lot of passes to the tight ends.
Jamey Burrell (Charleston, SC)
How limited do you think the offense will be in terms of play calling this week? Last week, the offense was very vanilla. Will we see more of the same, or will Richt and Bobo open it up leaving nothing on the table in order to ensure a big win?
Radi Nabulsi (12:54 PM)
The pass from Wooten to Marshall was rather neat, But I think the only limitation this week wil be based on personnel. There is no reason to hold plays in reserve. Run them all - perfect them all - make others try to stop you.
Tony (Richmond, CA)
Was the Labor Day Massacre a product of Alabama being that good, or Michigan simply being horrible and very overrated?
Radi Nabulsi (12:55 PM)
It is amazing what losing a starter or two agains the nation's best defense can do to a team. Alabama is that good and Michigan doesn't have enough playmakers.
Keenan (Atlanta, GA)
Who/what was the biggest surprised you took away from the season opener? Were there any potential causes for concern after Week 1 that you didn't expect to see?
Radi Nabulsi (12:58 PM)
That the defenive line would allow a quartback to escape the pocket. The d-line was so close to a number of sackes but Alex Zordich slipped off into open lanes a lot. But that was halted at halftime. I am a little worried about Marchall Mogan being too excited on his kicks. He rushed his first two and that was whgy he missed one and banged one off of the upright.
Why is there so much secrecy behind the Ogletree and Rambo suspensions?
Radi Nabulsi (12:59 PM)
Because it is an in-house suspension not resulting in an arrest. Silly if you ask me.
What's your best guess on next 3 commits?
Radi Nabulsi (1:01 PM)
Kelsey Griffin, Alvin Kamara and I'll have to think about the third... These are just guesses though.
With all the Todd Gurley talk, Keith Marshall seems to get lost in the shuffle. How would you grade his performance last week and do you see an increased role for him against Mizzou?
Radi Nabulsi (1:02 PM)
He ran well and I expect to see him get more carries going forward, especiually if Malcome's hand is still bothering him.
Radi Nabulsi (1:04 PM)
