Chris Mortensen (11:00 AM)
Good morning. Sorry I missed last week but I was deep in referees-NFL negotiations agreement. Let's catch up.
Will we be seeing Harrison and Polamalu this weekend for the Steelers?
Chris Mortensen (11:02 AM)
I think there's a pretty good chance for Polamalu and everything with Harrison has been "let's see how he feels Friday" after a week of practice. It's looking better.
Rashad (Los angeles)
Who the better cover corner coming out of school Patrick Peterson or Mo Claiborne??
Chris Mortensen (11:03 AM)
Some NFL scouts felt Claiborne had better coverage skills but being an SEC rat-packer I was always bigger on Patrick Peterson.
Do you think that Joe Flacco can continue to play like this all season? If he does do you think that the Ravens have a shot at winning it all?
Chris Mortensen (11:06 AM)
I do think Flacco will play at this very high level all year. I just don't think the Ravens defense is nearly as dynamic to win it all this year because of Terrell Suggs' injury. Now if Suggs comes back and plays at his high level down the stretch, then I'd say yes there is a shot to win it all for the Ravens. I picked the Texans before the season and I'm sticking with that pick.
How do you evaluate the way peyton has played thru a quarter of the season?
Chris Mortensen (11:08 AM)
I think he has played very well. As he says, he's still a work in progress as he rehabs and gets accustomed with new teammates so they can get on the same page. The Falcons' defense clearly played at a high level in a home prime-time setting and the Texans are a tough handle but in each of those losses you saw the typical Mannning get better as the game progressed.
John (Cincinnati, OH)
Has the Saints situation changed how you value Head Coaches?
Chris Mortensen (11:10 AM)
Considering I valued them extremely high, it's not going to change mine. In fact, I stated strongly that Payton was a game-changer and the combination of him and Brees made the Saints a lethal team. There's a reason head coaches get paid as much as they do.
Does Andy Dalton have a chance to get some MVP consideration?
Chris Mortensen (11:11 AM)
I'm among those who believe it's too early to have MVP discussion. After 12 games, if Andy and the Bengals continue to play this well, then yes he would be in that discussion.
Just a crazy thought here, who would the Saints take next year IF they had the 1st pick in the draft?
Chris Mortensen (11:12 AM)
Don't know. Maybe trade it. I doubt they will be picking first.
Rashad (Los angeles)
Why were you bigger on peterson?
Chris Mortensen (11:13 AM)
I think I always lean towards the better athlete with ball skills.
Marc (Malden, MA)
How can the NFL preach player safety, yet have a full season of Thursday night games?
Chris Mortensen (11:14 AM)
It's a question I have heard from players and coaches. Does that answer your question?
Anthony (Queens, NY)
what would you do with the Jets situation? What have you heard from people around the league about Sanchez?
Chris Mortensen (11:16 AM)
Nobody thinks Sanchez is a great quarterback but they are more critical of the instability around him. And I haven't talked to anybody who thinks Tebow would improve the situation.
Do you think the colts should have strongly considered taking rg3?
Chris Mortensen (11:17 AM)
I think the Colts picked the right guy in Luck. And I think RG3 went to the best possible team to enjoy this early success.
As a Romo fan, I have had to become a defender the last two days. I am not wrong am I? Still buying Romo?
Chris Mortensen (11:21 AM)
I am still buying Romo. I just didn't quite buy the Cowboys as a playoff team. I didn't like their interior O-line issues. QBs do make mistakes. Even the good-to-great ones. Let me say this - if the Cowboys hired a new coach next year, I guarantee you that coach is saying, "I want Romo as my quarterback." I am not buying that Jerry Jones has to be the one speaking to the team in the locker room after a loss like Monday night.
youre thoughts on WR Little on clev going forward this season chow
Chris Mortensen (11:23 AM)
He clearly makes you pull your hair out if you're a Browns fan. He makes enough good-to-great catches that it's difficult to understand how he can blow an occasional routine catch
Mikey (Beth Park-Lackawanna,NY)
Mort, Will Chan Gailey be on the HOT SEAT if the Bills dont make the playoffs this season?
Chris Mortensen (11:25 AM)
Why don't we see how the Bills play for awhile?
Al (Wausau, WI)
Chris, what are your thoughts on the Vikings? Do you think they can throw the ball down the field better against the Titans on Sunday?
Chris Mortensen (11:26 AM)
I do think as they become more acclimated to Jerome Simpson that we will see a few more explosive plays. But don't knock success. The Vikings might be 7-3 or 8-2 before their week 11 bye.
Ryan (Austin, TX)
Does Pagano's illness change the way the Colts play this weekend? If so, good or bad?
Chris Mortensen (11:29 AM)
They have lost their leader. I'm sure they will play inspired football but Chuck Pagano is an inspirational coach when he is there.
Chris Mortensen (11:31 AM)
I am called to a meeting for NFL32, which runs weekdays 6ET on ESPN2. We are pretty consistently hitting something on all 32 teams during an hour. Catch up with me via Twitter @mortreport. NFL Countdown at 10 a.m. Sunday. God Bless!
