Radi Nabulsi (10:32 AM)
Go ahead and get your questions in early. It gives me more time to come up with bad jokes.
Wally (Baton Rouge)
I keep hearing talk of a 1 loss Georgia team jumping Notre Dame? As much as I would like to think this is a reality I cant imagine any undefeated AQ school getting beat out by a 1 loss team. Is there any truth to this talk?
Radi Nabulsi (10:56 AM)
Only from some deranged Georgia fans. I would expect to see Steve Spurrier get a ticker-tape parade down Broad Street in Athens before I see the voters put any one-loss team ahead of Notre Dame.
Allen (Lake Sinclair)
Radi...given the Dawgs situation with recivers that are out for the year...Do we still have enough air attack with King and the backups to get the job done 1st at Auburn, then in the SEC championship game in Atlanta??? Who do you put in there to give us the best chance at reciever??? Also...will you commit to a prediction here, (with final score) for the Auburn game???Thanks for your team coverage!
Radi Nabulsi (12:03 PM)
Georgia is very deep at receiver, just not at blocking receiver if that makes sense. Losing Marlon Brown and Michael Bennett really hurts the Bulldogs since both are playmakers and big blockers downfield. But Georgia has yet to make full use of Chris Conley, Rantavious Wooten, and Justijn Scott-Wesley. Rhett McGowan and Taylor Bradberry can also be expected to step up. I think they will be fine. As for the Auburn game I think Georgia wins by 24.
Jeff (Dalton, GA)
Does Georgia stand a chance against Alabama in the SEC championship game or is the inevitable blowout like last year against LSU looming?
Radi Nabulsi (12:07 PM)
Sure, so long as Georgia holds onto the ball. A strong defense always gives a team a chance and when the offense is on, it scores points in bunches. But turnovers could doom Georgia to a repeat of last year. LSU showed how to attack Alabama, and Georgia will follow the game plan if they get there. If the Dawgs win the turnover battle, then they stand more than a puncher's chance. Key battle in that game, if it happens, will be Bama's defensive line versus Georgia's offensive line.
Jerome (Louisville Ky)
What do you think UGA's chances of landing Kamara? And do you think Tramell will stay with his commitment to UGA?
Radi Nabulsi (12:09 PM)
Good, but Georgia seems to be working on a plan "B". After hosting A.J. Turman and Bryan McClendon flying out to see Ashton Shumpert in Mississippi, it looks like Georgia is hedging its bets -- unlike they did last year at wide receiver and cornerback.
Montravius Adams (Vienna, GA)
Where will I sign with?
Radi Nabulsi (12:10 PM)
You told me not to say. Joking. But right now I would say Georgia leads.
Matthew (Atlanta)
Everyone has been talking about how Manti Te'o is the best linebacker in the league, but Jarvis Jones is a better NFL prospect, and seems to play with more fire then Te'o. Plus he was a First Team All-American last season when Te'o was second. Whats your take?
Radi Nabulsi (12:15 PM)
Jarvis plays a position that is in higher demand in the NFL, that quick outside pass rush. Thus he is considered by some to be the better NFL prospect, just like Jadeveon Clowney and even freshman Jordan Jenkins are being talked about as high draft picks. As for fire, I can't say who has more. Jarvis is a beast on the field but seems to approach the game relaxed. Te'o is a firecracker. Tough to quantify the difference.
john (Charlotte)
Do you see JHC staying at safety long-term or do you think he will eventually transition to OLB?
Radi Nabulsi (12:17 PM)
Now this is a guess since I can't say how he is going to grow but looking at the talent at outside linebacker and the need for experienced safeties next year, I thing Josh Harvey-Clemons stays in the secondary for at least the next year.
Todd (Lexington, SC)
If UGA wins out, do you seem them not going to the Sugar Bowl if the lose in SEC championship?
Radi Nabulsi (12:18 PM)
No. If Florida or South Carolina win out and Georgia loses to Alabama -- assuming that Georgia takes care of Auburn -- then one of those teams will go. Likely the Gators unless they lose to FSU.
Paden (Denver)
Who is the next RB that georgia would take outside of kamara? Shumpert/Turman/someone else?
Radi Nabulsi (12:22 PM)
After talking to Ashton Shumpert the other day, I would think h is next. But don't discount Johnathan Ford, the Vanderbilt commit.
Randy S (Jackson Ga)
After the sucess Ga has had so far this year and some great visits. What couple recruits do you see joining the GA train?
Radi Nabulsi (12:23 PM)
As of right now I would say Georgia has a good chance to land Montravius Adams, Laremy Tunsil, Jonathan Rumph and Alvin Kamara. Things can change though.
Radi Nabulsi (12:24 PM)
The new ESPN 150 and ESPN 300 have just come out. Be sure to check out DawgNation for the latest.
Matthew Rodgers (Atlanta)
What would have to happen for Georgia to get into the Championship game? Would both Notre Dame nad Kansas State have to lose?
Radi Nabulsi (12:25 PM)
Yes. And then Georgia would have to beat Alabama in the SEC Championship game to face Oregon in the title game.
Paden (Denver)
Any chance Georgia loses a current verbal commit before signing day and who would be your best guess as to who would leave? I know its a negative question, but just curious how strong you think Tray, Shaq, Tramel and some of the other commits are to the dawgs. With them visiting other schools, which is understandable, but actually giving them serious consideration?
Radi Nabulsi (12:29 PM)
I predict they will lose at least one more. Trying to manage an eventual class of 32-34 commits is tough. Success at one position can have an inverse effect on recruiting. These are young kids and they change their mind. Best to keep an eye on some of the out of state commitments like Steven Nelson and/or Uriah LeMay.
Paul (Atl)
How does UGA handle a recruit like Robert N. who is commited elsewhere, doesn't have you as a leader, and is probably just going to the game to watch his brother play?
Radi Nabulsi (12:31 PM)
They bring him in, give him a ticket and try to sway him. They hope for the best and urge the Georgia commits to work on him. It only costs them a ticket which they have already put aside for recruits anyway. Heck, they probably like the attention his visits gives the school -- good publicity and all that.
Jerome (Louisville , ky)
What are the chances that we will see the Nike combat Uniforms this year?
Radi Nabulsi (12:32 PM)
My fingers are crossed that I don't have to see those ugly uniforms again. But if Georgia want to get more top recruits, some uniform changes would go a long way.
Daniel (Vienna,GA)
When should we expect to see the next commitment coming for the Dawgs?
Radi Nabulsi (12:36 PM)
Two weeks. No, seriously I have no idea. I can't think of anyone that is about to commit or has a decision that is imminent. But then I did get a text from a young man the other day saying a lot of people wanted his story but he would just prefer to tell me. He didn't say what it was about but the last one of those I received was a commitment. Of course it could be just a story about his latest visit. We will see. Hit Kipp up on The Pound as he has a running calendar in his head for stuff like this.
Drew (Dallas, TX)
Will Georgia still want Toby Johnson after his ACL injury?
Radi Nabulsi (12:40 PM)
Georgia has a long history of honoring offers to injured players: Brent Benedict, Brandon Burrows, Reggie Carter and so on. But with Johnson being a Juco player, they have to be rethinking it. My guess is UGA still takes him since that is Mark Richt's normal operating procedure. But passing on Jay Woods and Kelsey Griffin seems like a bad idea now -- not that they could have predicted this.
Johnny (Atlanta)
what shot do you think Georgia has at landing kamara, nkemdiche, mack alexander, or greg bryant individually?
Radi Nabulsi (12:41 PM)
I think they get one out of the four.
Tim (Jacksonville)
How would you grade John Theus' season to this point? I realize Georgia is asking a lot for John to step into SEC level competition as a true freshman. I would give him a B- but I see him being all-SEC by his Junior season.
Radi Nabulsi (12:43 PM)
I will give him a solid B, but with the false starts I agree with your B-. He is getting better and I think he will be an All-SEC honorable mention player next year. Right on track with your prediction.
Brad W (Columbus, GA)
Will someone from ESPN Dawgnation be in Brooklyn for the Legends Classic for UGA Bball?
Radi Nabulsi (12:44 PM)
I doubt it.
Harkle (KY)
The Dawg's freshman place kicker makes me real nervous this year especially if game is on the line. Do you think it is just the fact that he is a freshman and needs more experience or do you think coaching staff may look to someone else in the future?
Radi Nabulsi (12:47 PM)
It sounds weird but I think they are fine with his field goal kicking. Yes he gets too nervous and I think he will mature out of the yips or whatever is bothering him. But I would not be surprised if they let a walk-on next year come in and kick PATs. There are only a few spots left and I don't see them using a spot on a kicker, especially after how the whole Brandon Bogotay situation worked out.
Sam (Destin)
Unless you're a Disney Dawg, DawgNation realizes that we don't have much of a chance against Bama. With that being the case, do you see a 2-loss Georgia team or 1-loss Florida team going to the Sugar Bowl? Personally I would like to see us face the Irish there but given our 28-point loss to the Cocks that we are headed back to Sunny FLA in January. What do you think?
Radi Nabulsi (12:50 PM)
Disney Dawg? Hadn't heard that in a while. Most people didn't give Georgia a chance against Florida an they pulled that one out. But as to your question, I don't see a two-loss Georgia team going to the Sugar Bowl. But stranger things have happened when the selection committees get together.
Michael (SC)
DO you see UGA getting back in with Rueben Foster after rumors of a coaching change at AU?
Radi Nabulsi (12:52 PM)
Hmmm. A few weeks ago I would say no, but I am thinking they could move Shaun McGee to outside linebacker and bring in Foster. I'll start asking the local tattoo shops if Todd Grantham has been by to pick up some Wrecking Balm.
Fever dawg (Eustis Fl)
At this point in the season I can see the great futures Jordan Jenkins, Todd Gurley, Keith Marshall, John Theus and even Jay Rome have ahead of them. What other freshman have you seen or heard about through players and coaches, that we should be really excited about in the near future.
Radi Nabulsi (12:56 PM)
Josh Dawson and Quayvon Hicks.
Rich (Minot, ND)
Do you ever see Georgia coming out west to play or did that humiliating defeat against Colorado scare them for life?
Radi Nabulsi (1:00 PM)
After beating Arizona State and losing to Oklahoma State, I guess the Colorado game was the west tie-breaker. Georgia had plans to play Ohio State and I believe Oregon but all the schools involved agreed to drop the games. Richt wins a lot on the road and I don't think he is sacred at all, But Greg McGarity, the newish athletic director wants to have seven home games so I don't see many more trips out west.
corey (NYC)
Is it just me or does Notre Dame get way too much pub?
Radi Nabulsi (1:03 PM)
Normally I would agree with you but they are playing well, beating good teams and have had some exciting games. I have never been a Notre Dame fan but this year I see why they are getting a lot of attention. Besides, I like Stephon Tuitt since I covered him at Monroe Area.
O'Neill (Ideal, Ga)
In the SEC championship game, I don't like UGA OL against 'Bama DL. Do you think the OL will hold up against the physical 'Bama DL, especially in the run game?
Radi Nabulsi (1:07 PM)
This is what I mentioned earlier as the biggest determining factor in that game should Georgia beat Auburn. With Georgia getting blown off the ball last week against Ole Miss, even when they went to max-protect (seven linemen), I would have to say no. But as the game progressed, despite losing starter Chris Burnett, Georgia was able to run and protect out of a five linemen set. So the start of the game could be a problem until Georgia makes some adjustments.
Fever dawg (Eustis Fl)
If Bill Snyder was in his mid forties and not his mid seventies, how many SEC coaches would be on the hot seat with their ADs making phone calls to Manhattan Kansas
Radi Nabulsi (1:08 PM)
Four.
Dan (Valdosta, Ga.)
Is there any scenerio Radi, where two of the undefeated teams lose a game, Georgia wins out including the SEC Championship over Alabama and not make it to the NC?
Radi Nabulsi (1:11 PM)
I doubt it. The voters would reward Georgia for beating the unbeatable and the win in that scenario would offset the bad loss against South Carolina.
Brooks (Athens)
I saw the article on Juwan Williams. Is Georgia not even in contention for him?
Radi Nabulsi (1:12 PM)
No. But you never know how recruiting is going to go -- think of Hutson Mason's Christmas offer, or Kenarious Gates' offer right before signing day.
Stephen (Atlanta)
Radi,Can you explain the Sugar Bowl selection process? Chris Low and Ed Ashcroff have suggested in several articles that, if the SEC sends a representative, it is between LSU and Florida. Is there some reason for the preference over Georgia? Assuming all three schools win out the regular season, I would think that Georgia should at least be equally considered since LSU would have two regular season losses and UGA beat UF. And there would be no issue filling the stands either. Thanks
Radi Nabulsi (1:16 PM)
The Sugar Bowl would not have a problem filing the seats with LSU or UF. The Gators will be 11-1 and ranked higher than a two-loss Georgia team. So will LSU as Georgia would drop below the Tigers since LSu will have two losses to the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the nation.
Keith (Oglethorpe, Ga)
Why hasn't Ray Drew gotten much any playing time this year? He was in alot during the Ole Miss game, but other than than, haven't seen much of him. Should UGA move him to OLB/DE to utilize his long arms & athletic ability instead of having play DE in the 3-4?
Radi Nabulsi (1:18 PM)
He is between positions as he is truly a 4-3 defensive end. But He is learning how to be that inside guy in the 3-4 and is getting better every game (or so it appears to me). Expect him to play more the rest of the way.
Radi Nabulsi (1:20 PM)
OK folks I have to go. Thanks so much for stopping by with all the great questions. If I didn't get to your question, be sure to swing by The Pound at DawgNation.
