What will the front 7 look like for Texas next year? Do you think the staff has handled the running backs poorly? Can we get Daje Johnson on the field before he transfers!!!!? And Bergeron needs to be a fullback.
Sean Adams (12:12 PM)
The front seven will still be pretty good on paper (we have to say that these days) but will the higher impact of the LB crew make up for the growth that will need to take place with Okafor leaving? I don't think they handled the running backs poorly, but they surely could have done a better job managing them. Bergeron has his role because Texas rarely uses a FB. I agree with you on getting the rock to Daje.
ron king (oklahoma)
What are the chances that Texas lands Hoza Scott? Do you see any underclassmen leaving? If so who?
Sean Adams (12:12 PM)
Texas has a lot of work to do on all of the big time players left on their board. I don't see any underclassmen leaving early for the NFL.
Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)
What bowl game will Texas play in this season?
Sean Adams (12:13 PM)
Depending on the outcome of tomorrow's game, Texas should be in the Cotton Bowl or the Alamo Bowl. Dallas or San Antonio should be the places.
Chioke Hassan (Baltimore, Md)
Dear Sean, when could you see Texas and Texas A
Sean Adams (12:14 PM)
I could see it coming back into play within the next decade. The folks involved right now are bitter toward the other side and there will have to be a cooling-off period in order for the game to get back on the schedule IF it does.
Sean, what does Texas need to do to pull the upset this weekend? You talked about controlling the line of scrimmage and starting fast. Anything else?
Sean Adams (12:18 PM)
Don't turn the ball over and put the defense in a bad position. Texas starting early on offense is the key to everything. They will be able to do that if they can control the line of scrimmage.
Aris (Baton Rouge)
Should Mack Brown feel bad that he makes over $5 million per year and guys that have won a lot like Les Miles make a lot less than him?
Sean Adams (12:21 PM)
No, not one bit. Income and salary are usually based on success and revenue. Texas has more revenue than anyone in the country. If he wants to feel bad about the last couple of seasons because they did not meet his expectations, that's one thing. If I'm him, I don't sweat the cash one bit. We don't get what we deserve, we get what we negotiate.
Jackson (Humble, TX)
Are you willing to admit that you were dead wrong about Texas A&M in them moving to the SEC?
Sean Adams (12:22 PM)
If you remember I said they had not won the Big 12 and that moving to the SEC was not a moved to win championships because that is actually a harder conference. Everything else and the listed reasons they gave for leaving I was with 100 percent because that is what they thought was best.
Chris (Austin, TX)
Is Mack Brown actually feeling pressure right now or is this all made up like it was before?
Sean Adams (12:23 PM)
I think Mack is feeling pressure but I think it is silly to think that alumni are blowing up his phone and asking him to resign. There is a level of pressure every year at places like Texas.
Lake Dawson (Seattle, TX)
What do you think about the Pac-12 now that Oregon took a loss and USC fell apart?
Sean Adams (12:25 PM)
Great conference. Of course I'm biased being from CA. I still think Oregon is one of the best teams in the country. Arizona and UCLA surprised and USC surprised the other way. If USC does not tank, the Pac-12 looks totally different.
Stan (Georgetown, TX)
Is Johnny Manziel going to win the Heisman because it is a down year or because he is that good?
Sean Adams (12:28 PM)
It is a very down year. I'm laughing at a couple of the names that keep getting thrown out. With that said, his impact on the biggest surprise in the country in the best conference in the country has been huge. I don't want to minimize him because he is that good.
Do you think Ash will be the starter next season? If not who do you think will?
Sean Adams (12:33 PM)
You asked me that question two weeks ago and the answer is a resounding yes. Now, I think he is the leader in the clubhouse, but the door is open. I'm ready to see what Jalen Overstreet can do.
Jason (Dallas, TX)
Are players too quick to want to transfer these days if things don't work out for them right away?
Sean Adams (12:35 PM)
Yes, all over the country players don't get the playing time they think they deserve in their freshmen year and they kick rocks. Gone are the days of putting in work and earning your way. I almost feel bad for writing that because every situation is different and I hate to judge them.
Mike (San Diego)
Who are we going to have at QB, seems since McCoy left that position has been in shambles. Are there any blue chippers on the horizon or are we going to stick with Case and David? Why didn't we get in on Manziel?
Sean Adams (12:40 PM)
Nobody knows what Brewer and Overstreet can do, but I bet they both get a serious look in the spring. A lot of schools missed on Manziel. Just not Oregon and Texas A&M, two of the most prolific offenses in the country (even though Sumlin fell into him).
David (Sugar Land TX)
Called my shot last night on Twitter (thanks for the retweet), I read what you think about the game today, but what has to happen for Case to pull this one off?
Sean Adams (12:41 PM)
You did call your shot, saying that Texas would beat Kansas State. Case has to play within himself. That needed to be a running theme for him all week. He doesn't have to win the game himself but he cannot turn the ball over. Play within the scheme and get the ball to his weapons with space to work in.
SportsGuyMike (Colorado Springs, CO)
Is it fair for people to compare Johnny Football's numbers to QB
whats the chances we land hoza Scott? and our chances for this Saturdays game?
Sean Adams (12:45 PM)
It's the only constant we can draw on. Which is funny because they are two totally different quarterbacks. Manziel is a better passer than Tebow is right now. They are both "off schedule" kids, but Johnny is going to break every SEC record around because he is not a threat to leave school early.
So would you pay those 59 bucks to hang with Rodman? Or would you rather hang with someone else?
Sean Adams (12:54 PM)
I wouldn't pay 59 cents to hang with Rodman. I don't know that I would pay to hang with anyone, but surely not him. Ali, Denzel, Spike Lee, Timberlake, LeBron, Kobe, chalk talk with Chip Kelly ... I can think of a lot of people I would want to hang with before I fell down the stairs to Rodman. Was that rude?
Mike (Austin, TX)
Does Texas have a chance of winning whichever bowl game we get into?
Sean Adams (12:57 PM)
Bowls are all about the matchups. They will have better chance of beating a passing team than a physical running team.
terri (visalia ca)
Since you will talk anything Texas, what are your views of the Astros going to the AL
Sean Adams (12:58 PM)
I have no problem with Texas not having an NL team. The bigger question is whether the Astros will change from being the "Lastros" in the next five years. The blueprints are everywhere for them to build from the inside. Will they follow that blueprint and spend the money on the talent needed to be great?
Mike (San Diego)
Hoza Scott is pretty much a done deal and going to A
Sean Adams (1:05 PM)
No I don't see it that way. This season is surely something that they have to manage, though, when coupled with the momentum at Texas A&M. Texas will always be great at recruiting. The recruiting class they got in 2012 and the one committed now are really good. Texas is not dominant, but it has little to do with recruiting.
Sean Adams (1:06 PM)
Enjoy championship weekend and thank you for all of the great questions.
