KC Joyner (4:00 PM)
Good afternoon! Let's talk some football!
I should be (working)
Who should I pair with Peterson? Gore, Ridley, or Wilson. PPR
KC Joyner (4:01 PM)
You are working - on your fantasy team! Got Gore rated highest among those three this week.
Tom (A hospital in Utah)
Hey KC, am I being too cute by starting Cameron over Gonzales this week?
KC Joyner (4:02 PM)
Hope that means you are working in a hospital. Cameron rates higher than Gonzalez this week because of Cameron's matchup.
Was offered D.Wilson for Daryl Richardson and R.Mathews. Buy lowish?
KC Joyner (4:02 PM)
Would much rather be on the D-Rich side of that trade.
it kills me to ask this as a pats fan, but should I bench Brady for Vick this week? Thanks for you help
KC Joyner (4:04 PM)
Vick is rated slightly higher than Brady this week. Got a gut feel the Eagles are going to come back down to earth a bit but the rankings are close enough that if you wanted to stick with Brady, it would be copasetic.
Forget the rankings, pick 1 of these (from your gut feeling) to start: K. Thompkens, M. Wallace, or M. Williams? I'm leaning M. Williams but something tells me Thomkens.
KC Joyner (4:05 PM)
Never forget the rankings! Regarding Thompkins, he looked terrible last week and he has a really tough lineup matchup this week. Wallace has a fantastically favorable matchup and would be the pick.
JIM ROSS (RETIREMENT)
Concerned about Dez Bryant or Julio Jones?
KC Joyner (4:06 PM)
Seeing JR retire is like seeing Summerall or Madden hang it up - a legend will no longer be voicing our memories. Not concerned about Bryant (he started kind of slow last year as well) but am a bit concerned about Jones.
Roger Murdock (Airline pilot)
I'm about to start Vick over (blue rated) RG3. I actually try during the regular season!
KC Joyner (4:07 PM)
Roger that. RG3 shook off some rust on Monday night and still managed to post 19 points. He'll be your pick down the road.
The Football Student (Dallas, Tx)
Ammendola appears to be out. Replace with James Jones? I could get Marlon Brown or Reuben Randle but I'd need to cut Jones or Deondre Hopkins to do it. Thoughts & Thank you sir!
KC Joyner (4:08 PM)
The Football Student - like that name! Jones has a longer history than the other two and he has a better QB than Brown. Stick with the known commodity.
I dropped Brandon Myers and picked up Jared Cook. Smart move for ROS, but possibly not so for this week?
KC Joyner (4:08 PM)
They are rated basically equal this week. Think Myers is going to continue to have a great year so it's hard to go wrong with either pick ROS.
Shane Vereen Owner (Ugh)
Ben Tate or Kenbrell Thompkins at flex this week? Non-PPR. Vereen, Le'Veon Bell, and Josh Gordon sitting on the bench.
KC Joyner (4:10 PM)
Ugh, indeed. He had a terrific GBYPA last week and caught a bunch of passes. Looked like he was ready to break out as a weekly flex pick. Would go with Tate, as Thompkins couldn't get open against Buffalo's CBs and will have an even tougher time getting open against Cromartie.
Bruce Wayne (Gotham)
KC given Falcons WR concerns better standard league QB--Ryan or Luck?
KC Joyner (4:11 PM)
Batman reference - like it. Am a big fan of the Frank Miller Dark Knight series. Ryan and Luck rate even at the moment but that will change if Jones' injury turns out to be an issue. Might be a later in the week decision.
Is Brian Hartline legit (as in startable at my flex this week)?
KC Joyner (4:12 PM)
Hartline had superb vertical numbers last year (check out some of the TFS ESPN Insider pre-draft articles for specifics), so it isn't a shock to see him do even better with someone like Wallace on the other side of the field. He's a solid flex pick.
CJ (How many K's?)
CJ?K is ranked fairly high on flex rankings....not worried about Houston D?
KC Joyner (4:14 PM)
Johnson is a home-run hitter and Tennessee had a solid GBR this past week. They'll give him opportunities to hit one out of the park and that makes him a high-rated pick this week.
is it over reacting to week one to sit bowe for edelman?
KC Joyner (4:15 PM)
Bowe almost got dropped to a yellow rating this week. Edelman has a tough matchup and rates a notch below him but that gap is closing quickly
Over Thinking It ((Defense))
NE or CIN
KC Joyner (4:16 PM)
It's easy to over think this sort of pick since they both rank equal this week. Would pick NE if only because they face a rookie QB and Cincy faces Ben.
Dumb Question Guy (Philly)
As a Lynch owner I dropped Turbin for Christine Michael. Do you know which one is the handcuff or if either of them should be rostered?
KC Joyner (4:17 PM)
Turbin looks to be the backup now so he's the handcuff. Seattle's run blocking was good this past week so Lynch's backup would get plenty of chances to break off some gains.
Lamar Miller or A. Boldin as my flex this week?
KC Joyner (4:18 PM)
Miller's subpar performance was entirely due to bad blocking (see this week's TFS ESPN Insider Fantasy Foresight article for more details) but Boldin showed he is a lights out WR. Would start Boldin.
Your a (Tuel)
QB2 start Flacco or Pryor?
KC Joyner (4:19 PM)
Got to reward creativity. Related note - humor is a great way to get your post to the top of the list. They surprisingly rank dead even on the QB charts but would take the vet over the youngster, so start Flacco.
If Millers production was due to bad blocking, do you think the Miami line will imporve or will it hold him back all year?
KC Joyner (4:21 PM)
They had a GBR in the 20 percentile range. In all of the years of breaking down O lines, no line has ever come close to having a GBR that low for an entire season. Barring a collapse of legendary proportions (something their O line talent says won't happen), the Fins will get their run blocking turned around soon enough.
KC Joyner (4:21 PM)
Maybe they just need to start throwing to Wallace on some vertical passes - put the fear of Wallace in the D and open up those run lanes.
Jared Cook (Endzone)
Should an owner sell high on me if they have somehow like Gronk waiting on their bench? Or do you think I'm going to raise my stock even higher in the coming weeks?
KC Joyner (4:22 PM)
It would probably be impossible for Cook's stock to go any higher. He's not going to put up those types of numbers all season long so if you have a Gronk on the bench and a TE option to fill in until Gronk returns, sell high on Cook if you get a really good offer.
Ted Striker (Concentrating)
KC... desperate for help... The consensus ranking has Welker over Nicks, but I feel like Eli is going to passing all day long in an attempt to hang with his big bro and I see Nicks as having a better game... Please help me with the matchups, is it that Nicks will have a tough cover.. I saw that Denver was great against WR's last year and pretty much shut down Baltimore?
KC Joyner (4:25 PM)
Airplane - they don't make movies like that anymore. Would that they did, as Mrs. Scientist and I would go out of our way to see a great comedy. I've got Welker rated slightly ahead of Nicks but that could change depending on Welker's injury status (he was limited in practice on Wed). Their matchups are roughly equal so if Welker ends up being listed as questionable or probable, Nicks is the better pick.
Professor Toru Tanaka (Hiroshima)
You want salt in your eyes? Then you better answer my question: Are the Eagles DST a good sleeper pick for this week when Rams are @ ATL?
KC Joyner (4:26 PM)
It all depends on the Jones/White injuries. If they are both hampered (which is likes like they could be), the Rams are the better pick. That's why at the moment St. Louis ranks higher than Philly (plus Philly has coverage issues).
A Stupid Defense (Question?)
Shoot me straight please... am I stupid to not play SEA defense and go with OAK against the terrible Jaguars. In our league, yards against and points against count heavily... a lot more than getting turnovers.
KC Joyner (4:27 PM)
We're in the same boat, as I have the Oakland defense rated higher than the SF D precisely because the Raiders face the Jaguars at home.
Fletcher (Kingman, AZ)
Is now a good time to by low on Ivory?
KC Joyner (4:28 PM)
It's a terrible offense but he is the lead back on his club and that has value. If you can get him for a low enough price, it could be a great pickup.
Spuds McKenzie (Bud Light paradise)
Throw a dog a bone here! Trade offer: Bowe/FJax for Fitz/Reeece, 0.5 PPR.
KC Joyner (4:29 PM)
Spuds ruled! Named one of my cats Spud many years ago, liked the name that much (or at least an offshoot of the name). Fitz is the find of that group so would want to be on the Fitz/Reece side of that deal.
Former (Rocket)Scientist (New York)
KC:Please help. Need 2 of these guys for this week:Antonio Brown, James Jones, Torrey Smith, Reuben Randle, with a slight emphasis on needing a home run here. Thanks!
KC Joyner (4:32 PM)
Very cool to have another scientist in the chat! Just saw a NY Times article about Voyager leaving our solar system - pretty cool stuff. Jones has the most favorable matchup of the group and Smith has the best wheels, so they would be the picks.
49ers D, Chiefs or Raiders
KC Joyner (4:33 PM)
Same name as my hair stylist. Got the Raiders ranked highest.
Kevin (Los Angeles)
Pick 2: Edelman, M Wallace, Antonio Brown
KC Joyner (4:33 PM)
Pick 1 - don't post the same question 100 times. It will not get answered.
About to be fired (My boss' computer)
Decker or Edelman at flex? Or do I start both and bench Dez with a bad foot?
KC Joyner (4:34 PM)
Got to like someone willing to risk a job to get a fantasy football question answered! Decker has a really favorable matchup and therefore gets the nod this week.
Would you trade Foster, Steven Jackson, Bowe for McCoy, Cobb, Lacy, Josh Gordon?
KC Joyner (4:35 PM)
Ditto. Stop sending in the same question 100 times. I'm not going to answer it.
why do you spend so much time answering questions that can be addressed by looking at rankings? Which side do you want on an Edelman for jared cook trade?
KC Joyner (4:36 PM)
Because those are the questions that come in. I don't write the music, I just sing the song. In a vacuum, would rather be on the Cook side of that deal.
Need a W this week (Arizona)
Should I start Julius Thomas in place of Tony Gonzales??? Gonzales is reliable but I'm tempted to go with the hot-hand.
KC Joyner (4:37 PM)
Thomas has talent but a lot of his production last week occurred because of Baltimore coverage gaffes. He's a very highly rated player this week but Gonzalez is one start slot higher this week.
Kerry C (Also nicknamed "KC") (Arkansas)
Who are some of your favorite 'by low' running backs currently, thanks KC!
KC Joyner (4:39 PM)
Funny thing - the theme parks sell items with pre-printed names embossed on them (i.e cups with a person's name on them) and at least half of the items have a "KC" option available. Must be a more common nickname than generally thought. Guys like Miller and Lynch could be potential buy low picks. Check out this week's TFS ESPN Insider FFB article for more.
Murdock (Dragging Walton and Lanier down the court)
Any concerns about MJD? I know the Jags are bad, but they were bad when he was great, right?
KC Joyner (4:40 PM)
Got some short-term concerns about MJD due to the terrible Jags passing game but their blocking was fairly good and their pass game should get better when Blackmon returns. MJD could end up being like CJ?K last year - bad start, great finish, terrific early season buy low candidate.
TRADE: Need your opinion. M. Colston and M Wallace for Marshwan Lynch and Heyward bust..which side? Decision needs to be made :-)
KC Joyner (4:41 PM)
Kind of depends on the RB need of the team but in a vacuum I'd rather be on the Colston/Wallace side of this trade.
Dr. Rumack (I am serious and dont call me Shirly!)
I know you love the TE Myers but he got all his points during the 4th Q. Should I start Winslow today as Gino seems to look for him alot.
KC Joyner (4:42 PM)
Hey, points scored in the 4th quarter count just as much as points scored in the first quarter. The preference would be to start the TE with the better QB and better offense, so Myers gets the nod this week.
Jim Schwartz (Detroit)
Just how high do you have Joique Bell rated?
KC Joyner (4:43 PM)
Hey KC - have you heard anything about Larry Fitz? He's been taking it easy in practice - is it just a precaution? Thanks!
KC Joyner (4:43 PM)
After the way he played last week, Fitz can take as much practice time off as he wants. Not worried about Fitz at all.
Is gio bernard even flex worthy? Do you think he'll get more touches going forward?
KC Joyner (4:44 PM)
He had a better GBYPA than Law Firm last week. As long as that is the case (and it will likely remain that way), Bernard will get more workload down the road.
Chip Kelly (Philly)
This chat is going too slow. Cameron, D Richardson or Shorts for flex?
KC Joyner (4:45 PM)
Just imagine how fast a Kelly chat would go. We'd be looking at two-word answers to every question. D-Rich has a very favorable matchup this week and thus gets the nod.
Airplane Quote (Tower)
What do you make of this? Well, I can make a hat, or a scarf, or a...what do you make of Michael Vick in that new offense? Play over CK this week?
KC Joyner (4:47 PM)
Glad you didn't quote the one that had the fan. Vick and CK are rated equal this week but Vick has a slightly better matchup rating and is at home. Start Vick.
Mark Sanchez (NY)
Don't have much else to do right now!! Is Mike William a better start this week than Roddy or Kenbrell Thompkins?
KC Joyner (4:48 PM)
Kick a guy while he's down! Got Williams rated higher than those other two this week.
"Hi Jack!" (Tackled in airport terminal)
Any gas left in the tank for D'angelo Williams in your opinion?
KC Joyner (4:50 PM)
Remember hearing a story about them possibly culling that joke out of the movie. Can't remember if they did it and then put it back in for the home movie release. Got Williams as a borderline start this week, not too worried about the gas in his tank.
Best Christmas Movie Ever........ (Die Hard)
Ever wonder why Hans Gruber has to yell shoot the glass in English before the German speaking terrorist could understand him?Considering he's out another month and with that lousy line is Le'Veon Bell worth holding onto in a 10 team league?
KC Joyner (4:51 PM)
Maybe his German was off? Or more likely they just wanted the audience to know what he was saying. Wouldn't be holding on to Bell if another solid option was available.
I somehow stuck myself with Big Ben and Palmer as my QBs. Are you okay "streaming" mediocre QBs week to week as with DEF, or should I just try to ride these guys out?
KC Joyner (4:53 PM)
That approach can work if it allowed a team to build a strong RB/WR/TE foundation due to the lower QB picks. Palmer should be a fairly good QB most of the year so he'll fit well here. Might be thinking about an option outside of Ben, as that offense has a ton of issues that might take a while to fully correct.
Hans Gruber (Nakatomi Plaza)
Karl spoke a different German dialect. Telling him in English was easier. Start Vick over RG3 this week?
KC Joyner (4:54 PM)
Word from the man himself. Got RG3 rated higher, still got a ton of faith in him (he was shaking off rust for much of that game and still got 19 points).
I think Alfred Morris the next Olandis Gary of the Shannhan system? COmes from nowhere and then Fizzles out just as quick as he burst onto the scene. Thoughts?
KC Joyner (4:56 PM)
Got to lover the reactions after Week 1 - one bad game and people are ready to throw in the towel on a very good RB. Morris ranks as a high-end RB2 this week.
Is it smarter to own Edelman or Alshon Jeffery if you're an Amendola owner. Decker is my current WR2 and Green-Ellis is my current flex. Should those change with the addition of Edelman. Need to beat my dad this week, thanks.
KC Joyner (4:58 PM)
A win over family - just the kind of thing you want to talk about over Thanksgiving dinner. Would rather own Jeffery if only because he's a starter and if Amendola is healthy, Edelman is a No. 3 WR on his team.
Jax Teller (Charming)
Best WR2 this week (std league): Thompkins, D Hopkins, M Floyd?
KC Joyner (4:59 PM)
Not sure what that's in reference to but it made me think of the great duo Penn and Teller. Am hoping to take Mrs. Scientist out to Vegas to see them one day. Hopkins gets the nod out of that trio.
Amost dinner time (Newark, DE)
Wallace, Cobb and AJ Green? which 1 sits? Thank you.
KC Joyner (5:01 PM)
That it is! Fajitas and tacos are on the menu this evening. Very tough call. Green has to start. Wallace rates higher because he has a much better matchup but there is risk. Ratings say Wallace but if your matchup says you can avoid risk, start Cobb.
KC Joyner (5:03 PM)
Well, that hour flew by! Couple of quick notes. Links to all of the TFS ESPN Insider articles can be found on Twitter @KCJoynerTFS. I'm also taking part in an in-game chat on ESPN.com this evening and will be doing a fantasy football chat on ESPN.com from 11 AM to noon on Sunday morning. Hope to see you all in those chats and back in this chat next week!
