Stephania Bell (3:04 PM)
Hi Gang: Just filed a Julio Jones note and it should be up soon. So sad!! Running like crazy on injury Tuesday. What's on your mind?
Now that Julio might be gone for the season. Should I pick up Douglas?
Stephania Bell (3:05 PM)
Titi: Yes. I would. They need another guy to stretch the field. And I'm certainly holding on to Tony Gonzalez.
Julio done for the year?
Stephania Bell (3:07 PM)
Skyler: Smith just said in his press conference that it was too soon to rule him out but the early test results were not encouraging. Sounds like they fear the worst but are awaiting confirmation.
How long can we expect Vick to miss? It seems like he could play this week but be limited but with the quality play of Foles he will get a week to rest before coming back. Is my assumption correct?
Stephania Bell (3:09 PM)
Jake: Not clear given that we haven't heard the degree of strain, etc. He was out making some throws in practice today (good sign) but no running and he did say it was important not to make injury worse. He's not 20-something so that's easier to do. I don't think we can assume just a week (and he hasn't officially been ruled out but it's looking that way, but the early signs are encouraging that it's short-term.
On which play did Julio injure himself? Was he playing on a broken foot yesterday?
Stephania Bell (3:10 PM)
Scott: Smith said it was before the one-handed grab.
News on CJ Spiller? Worth starting this week?
Stephania Bell (3:11 PM)
Wil: Nothing yet but that's not unusual on TUesday. THe good news is he has ten days between games so think that bodes well.
Will Gronk's snaps be limited this week? I still have to play him right?
Stephania Bell (3:12 PM)
Jay: Expect if he plays (which it looks like he will) that he will be on a structured re-integration to full work. That said, those limited snaps could be very productive so it's going to be very hard to sit him. Just know that you may be getting limited snaps.
Roddy looked like he was hurting too. What's his story?
Stephania Bell (3:14 PM)
Bob: Hamstring injury on top of the already ailing ankle. Bye week couldn't come soon enough. They will need him healthy - I did think his ankle was better though last two weeks, despite the setback he said he had.
Dave (Birmingham, AL)
When's Megatron coming back? His absence was indirectly killing me (have Bush and Stafford in some leagues).
Stephania Bell (3:14 PM)
Dve: If you believe him, he should be back this week. Made it sound like it came down to warmups.
Should I drop Stevan Ridley for Pierre Thomas? .... Mcgahee?
Stephania Bell (3:15 PM)
Rick: I would not be dropping Ridley. Too much talent and I think there's a good chance he's back this week.
What's the oakland running back situation like?
Stephania Bell (3:17 PM)
Nick: With Jennings now with a hamstring injury like McFadden, Reece becomes the healthiest along with Stewart. May not get a clue as to who becomes available until we get to late in the week but at this point I'm highest on Reece.
Any news on Andre Brown's return outlook? With Wilson hurting the Giants look like they really need him asap
Stephania Bell (3:17 PM)
Aaron: They do...but he's on the IR/des for return. They can't bring him back any sooner than 8 weeks (6 to practice, 8 to play) so they still have some time. Heard he started running though so that's a positive.
Dave (Scottsdale, AZ)
Any word on Bradshaw? Time to cut bait or should I hold onto him?
Stephania Bell (3:19 PM)
Dave: If you have the space, don't drop him just yet. Not clear whether he's opting for surgery or not. Strange but if he doesn't, it could be a few weeks range to get him back (and he might opt for something in offseason).
Ovaltine Jenkins (Australia)
My friend has Owen Daniels and no backup. Would it be fair to offer him Gates for Vincent Jackson? I also have Gronk
Stephania Bell (3:20 PM)
Yes. He needs a tight end. You have two. Solid receiver for solid tight end straight up. Jackson went on bye with a rib injury but should be better this week.
TIGHT END TROUBLES????Greg Olsen in a walking boot and Martellus Bennett listed with knee injury...any news on these guys? Any reason to be concerned for this weekend? Thanks Stephania and good job leading the FF Podcast this week!
Stephania Bell (3:23 PM)
TDW: Olsen injury apparently from in game (spotted limping afterward, then the boot). What we don't know is the severity and whether it's an early week offloading of weightbearing so he can practice later and hope to play. I'd be getting a backup if you don't have one. Bennett got his leg tangled up - didn't look good when it happened- but kept going. Doesn't seem like it will keep him out at this point.
Any word on Steven Jackson
Stephania Bell (3:24 PM)
Andy: Supposedly very close to going last night but they held him out to give him an extra two weeks. Should be in good shape when they return. You know the mantra though. You never truly know until the athlete returns and doesn't suffer a setback.
Is it time to grab Percy Harvin off waivers
Stephania Bell (3:26 PM)
Don: Yes. But that doesn't mean he's returning in Week 7. The designation allows him to start practicing with the team next week and he is going to do so. That's impressive considering the surgery. But he may need a couple extra practice weeks before he can be ready to actually play in game. If you don't pick him up now though you could miss out.
Greetings from NorCal. Any word on Vereen? Still targeting Week 11 to return? Thanks and love the weekly chat!!
Stephania Bell (3:27 PM)
Karen: Thanks. Yes. doing well post-wrist surgery. Key for him though is getting enough range/strength to ensure that he's not a fumbling risk. Won't test that for a while yet.
Stephania... Your Last answer... on Week 7 to Don... who are you talking about, question not posted!!! Percy Harvin?
Stephania Bell (3:28 PM)
Lewis: Yes (strange, posted on my screen)- talking about Harvin.
Afternoon Stephania! think Amendola is 100%? OK to drop Edelman non-ppr? thanks
Stephania Bell (3:30 PM)
John: No. I'm sure he's not yet 100%...but that doesn't mean he can't perform well. As I've said, this has the potential to bother him intermittently, even on a smaller scale. In other words, can cause problems short term but if all goes well, he'll avoid huge setbacks. Still think they monitor his usage for a few weeks.
Miles Austin ready to go Sunday night? He always does good against that Washington Professional team. If he plays would you trust him over Stevie Johnson or Kenbrell Thompkins? PPR
Stephania Bell (3:32 PM)
Perry: Think the Cowboys hope to have him back but aren't committed yet. Not more than Thompkins. Bit of a tossup with Stevie. Stevie has a hamstring situation and a QB off the practice squad. At least Austin has a QB we know will throw a lot. Wouldn't expect much from him though.
Andre Johnson still hurting?
Stephania Bell (3:34 PM)
Clair: I'm sure he is. But he won't be saying he is. And with Daniels out multiple weeks with a fibula fracture, they need him.
Ray Rice had 33 touches in the last game after having practically zero workload for a few weeks because of the hip. Did he make it through the game ok and how do you see him going forward?
Stephania Bell (3:35 PM)
Eric: Yes, all indications he made it through OK and clearly the way they used him was a good sign. Like him going forward.
Stephania Bell (3:36 PM)
All right good people. Given the news of the day, I have to dash a bit early. More injury news to come on the blog site. See you in the Friday chat!
