Stephania Bell (3:03 PM)
Hello everyone: Just a programming note that I will only be joining you until 3:30 today. With that said, here we go...
Is Mike James done for the year? Any update on that? dropped Darren McFadden for him and this happens.
Stephania Bell (3:04 PM)
Francis: I'd operate under that premise. The team has not said so but with fractures taking 4-6 weeks to heal and then this being in his ankle (we don't know if he'll need surgery, exact location of fracture, he'd have to get leg strength back, etc), I'd plan on him being out.
Do you think that Rodgers will appear in a game by the fantasy playoffs? The "no official timetable" label has me worried.
Stephania Bell (3:05 PM)
Mario: I do. But the reason there's no official timetable is precisely that. It will be a week-to-week situation predicated on how well the bone is healing.
Ryan (GREAT CALL LAST WEEK)
Congrats! Your projection of Matthews or SJAX was right last week! thank you, thank you. Now onto this week for the flex - H. Douglas v. Tampa or Matthews v. Miami?
Stephania Bell (3:08 PM)
Ryan: Wow - thanks. I had forgotten about that. And I'm sure I made some that were completely wrong. But I'm still worried about SJax and his productivity going forward. Entire Atlanta offense in fact. I do like them to change that through the air this week and Douglas seems most logical big target. Teams now have to account for R White too and Darrelle Revis can only be in one spot. Miami didn't exactly look like a great run defense last night but think that improves too. So, I go Douglas (at least for now).
Did Ben Tate struggle with his injury this weekend or was the low score a result of the stout Ari D? How concerned should we be going forward. Is he a sure start every week?
Stephania Bell (3:11 PM)
C: I think by his own acknowledgement he is still dealing with quite a bit of pain from the 4 cracked ribs but they continue to get better with time. I have less concern every week removed he is from the injury. And no one is a sure start anymore. But I expect Tate to be the starter, definitively, this week.
Think Stevie Johnson plays this week? And if so will he be limited much?
Stephania Bell (3:13 PM)
Matt: Not very confident on Johnson but it's early. Especially after the back, hip, hamstring issues and now this (groin issue is on same side), I'd be nervous. Doubt we'll hear much from team until later in the week.
I am sure questions about Harvin are popping up like crazy. So what can we expect? Assuming he plays that is.
Stephania Bell (3:16 PM)
Jeff: Naturally. His first day of practice will be Wednesday so the first order of business will be seeing how his hip responds. Just because the Seahawks activated him (they had a 21-day window to do so) doesn't mean they'll force him on the field. Sure, it's a nice thought to get him out there against his former team but only if it's not going to set him back. If he does play this week, expect it to be limited in his first test. Then they willg radually increase it from there.
DIS GUY (OVA HERE)
do u think Shane Vereen will play on Monday? if so do u think he will be limited?
Stephania Bell (3:18 PM)
Yes. I fully expect him to play this week. And I don't think he'll be limited physically (this was his wrist, not his legs, his conidtioning has stayed strong) but as to how the Pats decide to use him, that's a different matter.
AUTO UPDATE!! (AUTO UPDATE!!)
AUTO UPDATE IS TURNED OFF!!!!
Stephania Bell (3:18 PM)
IT IS NOT! Try refreshing your screen please.
kim (south jersey)
Know you love Andre B.! Looked fantastic this past week and glad I stored him on my bench a few weeks ago! Concerned about re-injury given his heavy workload?
Stephania Bell (3:22 PM)
kim: I do love him! Thought he would look good immediately but a bit surprised at how much they used him. That will be the plan going forward. Not concerned about re-injury to the leg as far as the same type of injury but more about his ability to stay healthy given the number of serious injuries in his young career.
Stephania: Auto Update might still be off. Should I continue to stay patient with Spiller or trade him for someone like Chris Johnson or Sproles?
Stephania Bell (3:25 PM)
Drew: Not sure what to tell you. At the top of my screen it says it is on and I am constantly getting updated posts from all of you. Not sure why that's happening on your end. But in the interest of time, will just keep answering. I wouldn't trade Spiller for Johnson. And Sproles was a surprise this week as Thomas has been getting some of what would normally be his work. I might trade Spiller straight up for Speoles but I think both will continue to share and it's probably a wash on any given week.
Fitz or Roddy rest of the season?
Stephania Bell (3:27 PM)
Travis: Fitz. Further past his injury and probably has more consistency in him going forward. Think White will have a couple big games but not sure how long you'll have to wait and don't think it will be consistent.
Kevin (St Louis)
Starphania, any word on Jimmy Graham? Is the limited snap count helping his foot or is he still basically just maintaining? Are we looking at limited snaps for ROS?
Stephania Bell (3:28 PM)
Kevin: Saints will not indicate one way or another but expect he will be "managed" going forward. He'll generally be a big red zone target so he's likely to have some days where he'll put up big numbers regardless of the snap count. The way plantar fasciitis behaves it could easily fluctuate from week to week.
Hi, Stephania! Ray Rice is a mess. Any reason to trust him against a garbage Bears run D? Thanks!
Stephania Bell (3:29 PM)
Zeus: Have made the mistake of trusting him already and have seen no sign that I should continue to do so.
As an owner of both Jimmy Graham and Jordan Reed, I was wondering if I should hold onto Reed as protection against further foot problems from Graham or deal him?
Stephania Bell (3:30 PM)
Brian: Yes, I would. Reed has shown himself to be capable and I would now carry an insurance card for him.
Hello, Stephania! Big fan of your fantasy expertise especially from the medical side. Please answer. I was leaning toward picking up Eifert off waivers, yet concerned about Gresham coming back. Any update on his injury?
Stephania Bell (3:32 PM)
Perry: Thank you. No update yet but with guys who sit out on Sundays, unless there is huge news we generally don't hear from the team until first practice reports come out and that won't be until Wednesday. He only missed 3 games ever before last Sunday though so it's not something he does lightly. Makes me think there's a bit more severity to the groin injury.
how long will T Pryor be affected by his MCL sprain?
Stephania Bell (3:34 PM)
Eric: Really interesting question given his comments. Seemed like it was no big deal in practice, then after a rough game and his exit, he made it sound like he was just trying to go out there hurt to help his team. Would be concerned as a coach that I would need more convincing before the next outing (although not great options there). Normally a mild-moderate sprain is a 2-4 week injury so not likely to be fully healthy even if he plays.
B Mand (Sarasota, FL)
I am desperate at flex this week and wanted to know what Santonio Holmes' status is this week?
Tony Gonzalez hurt his foot last week. Any idea of the exact injury and even though it is early in the week, his status for this weekend?
Stephania Bell (3:35 PM)
B Mand: Yes, you are but it does look like he's eyeing a return this week, barring any setbacks in practice.
Stephania Bell (3:36 PM)
Erick: Last one! Yes, Gonzalez hurt his toe but gutted out the rest of the game. Presuming it's a sprain of some kind. No word yet on whether he'd miss a game but it's hard to imagine he would. Think the last time he did was in 2006.
Stephania Bell (3:37 PM)
Have a great rest of your day. I'll be updating the injuries through the blogs this week...including a couple posts later today. Cheers.
