merry xmas eve everyone! i finally found my room and a way to connect. seems i was struck by my own curse. at least it wasn't my niners! several of you still playing for the bragging rights i see...
Michael (Los Angeles)
Any updates as to whether Andre Brown and Shane Vereen will play this coming Sunday?
stephania bell (3:34 PM)
michael: Brown is going to be following the concussion protocol so we won't really know much until later in the week. Vereen could be a late week decision but he was part of the walkthrough Tuesday so that's somewhat encouraging.
I've asked Santa to give me Aaron Rodgers under center at Soldier Field for Xmas. Assuming I've been nice this year, will I get my present?
stephania bell (3:38 PM)
Pete: So if he's not under center, are we to assume you haven't been nice enough? it sounds like Santa is still deciding since McCarthy said that he and ted thompson still needed to get together and discuss, but at the end of the day, the medical decision is the key one. No word yet on whether he will be cleared. Hard to trust, but they do say the decision will come earlier this week. no having to wait until Friday.
Jim C. (Boise, Idaho)
Hey Steph. I've been hit hard by injuries of late. Gronk, AP, Welker, Andre Brown, Toby Gerhart, Aaron Rodgers...my team has been a field hospital of late. Still, I'm one point behind my opponent and playing for the championship. Which Minnesota RB should I hold onto for this weekend Peterson or Toby?
stephania bell (3:44 PM)
Jim: tough q to answer as of tuesday. AP clearly not operating at full strength and it seems like a legitimate question for the Vikings to consider whether it's worth having him play.Gerhart will most certainly be active but obviously gets a boost if AP sits. Decision does not appear to have been made yet. we should have a pretty good idea by Thursday.
Andy (San Diego, CA)
Any word on Ryan Matthews foot? He came out on Sunday, then returned to the game but left the stadium in a walking boot after the game.
stephania bell (3:47 PM)
Andy: Mike McCoy has already come out and said he expects him to play this weekend. So far when he's made those types of statements he's been right on so I believe him. Probably rests early in the week then returns for late practice and game.

stephania bell (3:59 PM)
Welp, lost my connection and had to find my way back. Will stay a few extra since I had so miuch difficulty connecting today.
stephania bell (4:00 PM)
J.R: Lacy aggravated the ankle sprain he's been dealing with for a couple weeks now. Imagine he won't do much until later in the week (McCarthy actually came out and said so)but I assume he will continue to play through it. Especially with everything on the line.
Merry Christmas Eve, Stephania! The Championship title has still eluded me (2nd and 4th place). Yet I am curious about Tony Romo and the whole offense of the Cowboys this week as a fan. Any updates/thoughts? Thanks for a memorable season with great chats, advice, and all the fun and insight on the Podcasts! Have a Happy New Year! I will miss you until next season!
stephania bell (4:06 PM)
Perry: Thank you! I sympathize. Sometimes, second feels worse than second to last since you come so very close to winning. Heartbreak. But, you can look back hopefully in a couple of weeks and be really proud of a strong fnish that took you all the way to the finals.Romo's situation is worrisome, just for his overall well-being. Even if he does ultimately need surgery, it doesn't mean he can't recover from it but naturally the questions will follow him around all offseason. As far as this week, sounds like they want to give him the opportunity, even if expectations are low, to see if he can make progress as far as how he's feeling. The biggest concern is whether there's any kind of true nerve compromise - specifically weakness or numbness in his leg. If there are signs the nerve is being compromised, particulary if those signs continue to worsen, he will not be allowed to play and surgery may be imminent. If through treatment (including ice, anti-inflammatories, epidural injections), they can calm the inflammation enough to change the signs and symptoms, then the door could be open. Judging from the ealier reports, no one exepcts him to make drastic improvements and thus they have to make alternate plans.
Stephania, who would you grab if Lacy can't go for me. Starks, Shonne Greene or a Giants, KC back to be named later. Thanks for all your great advice this year!
stephania bell (4:07 PM)
Ted: Starks would be the guy. And, thank you!!
Merry Christmas Stephania! Your great insight has guided me to the finals. Enjoyed reading ( especially watching :-) you all season. Down 12 going into this weekend and have A Peterson, Bush, A Brown and Gerhart. Can I expect any one of the four to play? What a time for all my RB's to tank!
stephania bell (4:26 PM)
Dan: Despite major internet connection trauma, I wanted to at least come back and finish out this thought. Yes, bad timing by your RBs. I expect Gerhart plays but his value depends on AP. Imagine we'll know more by Thursday. As for Brown, concussion protocol will determine his status. i susoect Bush will play. won't want to go into offseason without an opportunity for redemption onnthe fumbles and seems to be healthy enough. He is probably the healthiest option at this point. And, thank you!
stephania bell (4:27 PM)
thanks to all who came to the chat and sorry about the technical glitches. should be better on Friday. See you then. Merry Christmas!
