Nick Friedell (12:02 PM)
What's going on everybody? Hello from Indy. Let's get this chat rolling ...
Do you think that the team gets up for the games against Indiana like they do against Miami? I know there has been a little trash talk in the past but nothing like with Miami. I think these next 2 games against Indiana will show if the team is a legitimate playoff threat in the east.
Nick Friedell (12:04 PM)
Yes, I think they do. Thibs tried to downplay it at shootaround -- but there's no denying his team definitely gets up to play Miami. They also get up to play the Pacers. The physicality is different in these games.

I'm 1 of those ppl who thinks melo is coming, but let's say he doesn't, do u see the bulls bringing mirotic over and packaging their two firsts to move up and grab a guy like McDermott?
Nick Friedell (12:07 PM)
If the Bulls don't land Melo -- the next player they will go after is Mirotic. They believe he can be a difference maker. There are players they like in the draft, but they love Mirotic's game.
Do you still think the Bulls get by the Nets if they face each other in the first round of the playoffs?
Nick Friedell (12:07 PM)
Sam (Lincoln Park)
Hey Nick! Non-basketball question. Why do the Bulls players consistently wear their jerseys untucked (Butler, Noah)? Doesn't the league want them tucked in? I think it looks trashy and wish they would cut it out.
Nick Friedell (12:09 PM)
I think it's just that both of those guys play hard and sometimes their jersey becomes untucked. I don't think they are doing it on purpose. Plus, refs give players reminders to tuck in their jerseys on the floor.
Marc (Burbank, CA)
Nick if the Bulls land Mirotic this offseason, what would his salary structure look like? How much and how many seasons?
Nick Friedell (12:10 PM)
The educated guess here is probably $8-10 million per year for four years. We'll see how it all shakes out.
Does Joakim Noah act crazy off the court or is that only an on court thing?
Nick Friedell (12:13 PM)
No is actually very mild-mannered most of the time off the floor. He just hits another gear when the lights go on and the game begins.
Joshua (Wichita, KS) [via mobile]
What is the matchup to watch tonight during the bulls vs. pacers?
Nick Friedell (12:14 PM)
It's always Noah vs. Hibbert for me. That usually sets the tone. They don't like playing against one another -- but they do respect one another. It's always fun to watch. Hibbert's length really bothers Noah. I'm also interested to see how Butler fares against Paul George.
Do you think the Bulls new practice facility will help them attract free agents?
Nick Friedell (12:17 PM)
It won't hurt. I don't know many people that enjoy driving up to the suburbs. The Bulls really haven't used the Berto Center that much this year though.
Jeff (Naperville, IL)
Nick, why isn't Taj Gibson starting at PF over Carlos Boozer?
Nick Friedell (12:19 PM)
Because Thibs is a creature of habit. Also, he doesn't want to lose Boozer completely from a mental perspective. If Boozer started coming off the bench he would check out more than he already has.
Hey Nick, can you tell us the Bulls don't have enough to win a title? I think it's been at least ten minutes since you last said it. Also please write an article telling us that the Bulls won't have enough to win a title next year or the following year or the year after that. I don't think you've driven the point home quite enough yet.
Nick Friedell (12:22 PM)
Will do, John. Thanks for the heads up.
Isn't pro basketball really just about Miami, OKC and San Antonio with maybe Houston, LAC and Indiana having a little bit of a chance?
Nick Friedell (12:23 PM)
Pretty much. The sad part is the rest of the teams in the league know it as well.
Tonights game a possible playoff preview, is this over hype media saying or will both teams crank it up a little? Also do these teams dislike each other as much as it appears?
Nick Friedell (12:26 PM)
They do not like each other -- that's for sure. But they do respect each other. The Bulls view the Pacers like their 'little brother'. In order to earn that respect, Indiana must beat them when it matters most -- the playoffs.
Nicky! Question for you, with Thibs seemingly able to work wonders at the PG position. Is it time to start thinking about dealing Rose? Provided he comes back relatively close to where he was his MVP season.
Nick Friedell (12:29 PM)
The Bulls aren't going to trade Rose. He wouldn't have much value in a deal anyway given his injury status.
Calvin [via mobile]
Shouldn't Thibs try and get Jimmer a little playing time knowing he is a pretty jump shot to build up his confidence
Nick Friedell (12:33 PM)
Which player would you take away minutes from right now?
Do you see Thibs changing the style of offense when Derrick comes back to incorporate Noah's passing game?Gracias
Nick Friedell (12:34 PM)
Thibs may run a few more sets to run the ball through Noah -- but Rose will run the show whenever he returns. It's his team.
Gerson [via mobile]
Who is the best dunker on the bulls and I mean trick dunks? Tony, jimmy, taj?
Nick Friedell (12:37 PM)
I think Jimmy would win a team dunk contest.
Ron M (Chicago)
True there really isn't a player in the current rotation that's desrving of having their minutes cut, but what happens come playoff time when the need someone like Jimmer to spread the court. What's the greater implication if Thibs fails to work him into the rotation?
Nick Friedell (12:39 PM)
I think the feeling is if the Bulls need Jimmer to come in and hit a few shots, he'll be able to do so. Unless Hinrich or Augustin gets hurt, Jimmer isn't going to crack the rotation.
Do you get frustrated when Bulls fans won't accept that this isn't a championship team? They all seem to get upset when you tell them the honest truth, that this team isn't championship worthy.
Nick Friedell (12:40 PM)
You said it this time, Matt. Not me.
How about letting Jimmer take some of Snell's minutes? Seems like he's hit a bit of a wall. I know Snell is more of a wing but I just don't see Snell giving us much right now.
Nick Friedell (12:45 PM)
Snell is only averaging 11 minutes over the last 5 games. The difference there is that he's long, athletic and he can play solid D. Jimmer hasn't proven that in his career up to this point, and he hasn't been given a chance yet with the Bulls.
Matt (North Center)
What's more tiring, the Jimmer questions or the 'Melo questions?
Nick Friedell (12:48 PM)
They have a long way to go to catch up to the Boozer amnesty and Rose return questions.
Nick Friedell (12:52 PM)
All right everybody -- I am out of here. If you're at a game this week come over and say hello. Talk to you next week from the United Center.
