Klaw (2:04 PM)
Was it the proud full sail of his great verse ... or just Klawchat?
Kyle (Visalia)
At this point, what do you think the odds are that someone other than Aiken go 1/1?
Klaw (2:05 PM)
Maybe 40% Aiken, 30% Rodon, 30% Alex Jackson? Those are the only three names they're on, and I might be overweighting Jackson a little.
Nick (Chicago)
Is that any validity to the rumor that the Astros would snag Nick Gordon #1? If so, how would the next 3 picks play out?
Klaw (2:05 PM)
No validity, sorry.
Tyler Beede (Nashville)
I saw your mock draft and you have me falling out of the first round. Last time I checked I am still a 6' 4" righty with a plus fastball and change. And my K/BB is better than last year. I'm sure a team will take me in the first round...right?
Klaw (2:06 PM)
In a draft full of RH with power arms, most of whom throw more strikes than Beede does and don't have the same makeup concerns, I don't think it's a lock that "you" go in the first round.
James (NY)
Why would Brady Aiken's "adivosr" advise him to take a below slot deal with the Astros when he is one of the few elite guys in the draft?
Klaw (2:06 PM)
Because below-slot at 1 might be more than his best alternative - say, slot at 4.
John (VA)
Any chance Jacob Gatewood or Monte Harrison is there for the Red Sox at 26?
Klaw (2:08 PM)
Yes, but I don't know that they take either of them.
Justin (TN)
How many Vanderbilt signees do not make it to campus in the fall?
Klaw (2:09 PM)
Don't think Sheffield, Touki, or Cease get there (and rumor is Sheffield's older brother Jordan might transfer out to a JC). Waiting to see on Kendall.
Frank (Chicago)
What's the word on the elbow surgery Kyle Freeland had a few years ago? Does he have a clean bill of health now?
Klaw (2:09 PM)
I know some teams flunked him this year, and some cleared him, so it's just a matter of each team's doctor's opinion. And I wouldn't take the fact that anyone flunked him as definitive - a couple of teams flunked Scherzer in the draft too.
Jesse (Minneapolis)
What's the lowest and highest Hoffman goes?
Klaw (2:12 PM)
I think highest is 4. Lowest could be sandwich round to a team with extra picks - Houston would probably do cartwheels, although Luhnow's glasses would fall off so maybe not.
Jason (Cleveland)
Keith great list really liked it. Just a couple of questions. Was T. Walker excluded because of playing time or has he just fallen that far? Also was wondering how close was Tyler Glasnow and Austin Meadows to making the list?
Klaw (2:13 PM)
Walker was excluded because he needs to drastically change his delivery. Glasnow slipped because the reports on his command are worse this year. Meadows hasn't even played this year so I didn't have any reason to race him up the board like that.
Jay (PA)
No Bundy in your updated Top 25? Obviously the injury/surgery are the big question but Giolito also made the list. Is being a year ahead, surgery-wise what sets the two apart?
Klaw (2:14 PM)
One guy is pitching in games, the other isn't. We've seen Giolito's stuff is back. We won't know for sure on Bundy until he's on a mound.
JL (Vancouver)
Are the Jays really after Touki? From what you are hearing, are they planning to take a prep pitcher and college fielder?
Klaw (2:15 PM)
I just know they want guys with upside. Anthopoulos did go see Trea Turner at the ACC tournament (for a day - color me surprised Avent still has his job after the season they had), so he's somewhere in their mix. I have had them with Hoffman and Touki, both very high-upside selections. I don't see them taking anyone who's "safe" with a low ceiling.
Buck (Birdland)
For no particular reason, who would you say is the 90th best draft prospect at this point?
Klaw (2:16 PM)
Man, if I only I published rankings that went through 100 ... oh wait, I did: http://klaw.me/1ivhxWD
Klaw (2:16 PM)
And that'll be updated this upcoming week - there are some pop-up guys like Justin Twine who need to be on there.
Mike (DE)
Hi Keith, thank you for taking my question. Have you changed your thoughts on Aaron Nola? Or is your mock a reflection of what you think teams see in him?
Klaw (2:17 PM)
My mocks are based on what industry sources tell me is likely to happen. My opinions on players are completely irrelevant in the mock as they are in reality.
Keith (Boston)
Connaughton from Notre Dame is interesting, right? Essentially, a pile of clay ready to be molded... right off the basketball court and poor weather were factors in a poor start. Build and temperament are pluses and he's where he is with limited coaching and limited strength training for a pitcher. What, besides poor command and stats, could hold him back?
Klaw (2:17 PM)
Never loved the delivery either. History of guys like him isn't great - Brackman was a mess, we're still waiting for Amir Garrett to commit to baseball because he needs a lot of work.
Kyle (Dallas)
Does Joey Gallo warrant a call-up to AA ball? From listening to the games I get the impression that he can sometimes be bored at the plate by not being challenged.
Klaw (2:18 PM)
No, he doesn't. I can't say I advise anyone to scout off the radio.
Michael (NKY)
Why is AJ Reed, despite being the best player in college baseball, relatively low on mock drafts?
Klaw (2:18 PM)
Because being the best-performing player in college baseball is not equivalent to being the most talented player in college baseball or the college player most likely to succeed in the majors.
Klaw (2:19 PM)
In Reed's case, it's average bat speed with plus power. How's he going to handle consistent velocity?
Ricky (Palmdale)
Has there been any change in the idea that Seager has to move off of shortstop. He doesn't seems like he is making lots of errors. I know he is tall but so are some of the other shortstop prospects. Is Seager less of an athlete than those guys?
Klaw (2:19 PM)
No change. He'd be the largest SS in major-league history.
Chet (Kinnelon, NJ)
Mark Appel continues to make your list. He is on the mound as opposed to Bundy but he has shown nothing. Not sure how he makes the list. Also do you think it's possible the Orioles are slow to start the Bundy rehab process because of kepping him off the Cubs radar?
Klaw (2:20 PM)
Appel hasn't "shown nothing." He was hitting 97 two outings before his last one. And that's some serious tin-foil hat thinking on Bundy and the Cubs.
Bob (NYC)
Based purely on 3 years of history, what do you feel (or hear) is the likelihood the Mets ignore what seems like the consensus to take a college bat and go back to the prep class and grab a guy like Chavis (a la 2011 and Nimmo) who we're not seeing in most mocks till after 15..?
Klaw (2:20 PM)
Zero.
Klaw (2:21 PM)
Pretty sure I linked them to Nimmo the year they took him, too. It wasn't out of nowhere.
Todd (Arlington, VA)
Nats GCL team went 49-9 last year. Their low single A team is 36-16 this year comprised of mostly the same players. Is their scouting that good; is it luck; a combination of both or none of the above?
Klaw (2:22 PM)
Luck/older players. I saw Hagerstown - from a prospect perspective it's very light, with no bats I liked at all, and only one hitter on the roster under age 21.
Sean (Chicago, Il)
You have the Cubs taking Conforto (and considering other college players) with the fourth pick. Why don't you think they'd take Jackson or Gordon if either is available?
Klaw (2:24 PM)
I don't think they're on Gordon at that pick. I know they like Jackson but think they prefer other players - and there's a financial benefit to taking a player who'll sign for a little less money so you can allocate the savings to your next pick. I'd linked them to Jack Flaherty, a HS RHP from Giolito's/Austin Wilson's old HS, with that second pick.
Kyle (Visalia)
Will you be on MLB network commentating on draft day?
Klaw (2:25 PM)
That would be rather difficult since I work for ESPN, the site on which you are currently reading this chat.
Mac (Kalamazoo)
Will Mike Foltynewicz be in your top 50? Have you gotten the chance to see him in person this year?
Klaw (2:25 PM)
I saw him in March, and I have real questions about whether he can start when he changes his arm slot that much for the breaking ball.
Jordan (CT)
How does Aaron Sanchez look?
Klaw (2:26 PM)
Like Walker he's got that short stride and upright finish working against him.
DJ (DC)
Big fan KLAW! In regards to Nats OF prospects, everyone talks about Brian Goodwin and Michael Taylor. How about Destin Hood? 16-game hitting streak, .343/.397/.543 slash in May, w/ 13 extra base hits and 13 RBI. He's a better bat than what Washington has coming off the bench now.
Klaw (2:26 PM)
Nice extra outfielder. Doesn't walk or hit for power, not an everyday CF.
Klaw (2:27 PM)
Better use of a roster spot than Kevin Frandsen, though.
Dan S (Boston MA)
Boston's strong farm system is a myth, right?
Klaw (2:27 PM)
Wrong.
Jason (Cleveland)
TiQuan Forbes is pretty far down your list do you think the Athletics would be reaching if they drafted him?
Klaw (2:28 PM)
I think he's a reach at 25. Would take him at some point by the early 2nd. History of Mississippi HS bats is awful, and I think he is raw like his predecessors in that category.
Sal (DC)
Rendon sticking at 3B?
Klaw (2:29 PM)
It's his best position and he's their best 3B option.
matt (DC)
I've been hearing reports that Dom Smith has some body composition issues. Overblown for a guy playing HS this time last year, or a legit concern?
Klaw (2:29 PM)
I haven't heard any such thing.
Jeff (PA)
I know Gregory Polanco needs to work on quite a bit in AAA but do you have a projected time he will reach the buccos?
Klaw (2:29 PM)
Right around mid-June, shockingly enough.
Derek (work) [via mobile]
Read your rankings today, how would you compare JP Crawford to Profar at this stage of his career? (PS just randomly chose Profar because he was your #1 and I want to dream as a Phillies fan of what's to come)
Klaw (2:30 PM)
I think Crawford's going to be a star. I'm not wild about player comparisons.
Dale (West covina)
Given Ramirez' struggles this year, would either Guerrero or Arrueburenna be ready to be the starter if the Dodgers moved on next season?
Klaw (2:30 PM)
Not a big fan of either. Guerrero can't play short - he's bad at second. Arruebarenna can't hit.
Paul (Toronto)
Do you think DJ Davis is ever going to hit enough?
Klaw (2:30 PM)
I would bet against that.
Stephen (Miami)
Thoughts on Kevin Plawecki? He's got a huge 338/370/523 line in Double A. Think he'll displace d'Arnaud as the Mets catcher of the future? Maybe shift to first? Or is he trade bait?
Klaw (2:31 PM)
You can't move him to first - he's an above-average catcher.
Klaw (2:31 PM)
Not sure what they end up doing but given TdA's history of injuries it might end up taking care of itself.
Phil Brooks (Chicago)
Anthony Kemp - a fluke, or might the Astros have a second solid short second baseman?
Klaw (2:32 PM)
Fluke. Ridiculously good place to hit.
Tyler (Chicago)
If you draft Alex Jackson do you immediately move him off of catcher to advance the bat as fast as possible? Or do you keep him there?
Klaw (2:33 PM)
I keep him there because back there he might be a superstar, and he's not bad in any respect.
Wally (DC)
Michael Taylor (Nats) is having an excellent start to the season statistically in AA. Have you seen him or heard anything from the scouting side that indicates a step forward, or more just SSS?
Klaw (2:34 PM)
I've had Taylor as a sleeper in their system at least once, and I love his defense and his agility, but the guy has a .444 BABIP this year and I'm going to go way out on a limb and say that's not sustainable.
Greg (Maryland)
Do you think Chance Sisco could replace Wieters after next year?
Klaw (2:35 PM)
Do I think a 19-year-old catcher with a .333 OBP in low-A can be their major-league catcher on Opening Day of 2016? No, Greg, no I do not.
Tom (Syracuse)
What do you think about what Springer is doing right now? Did you think he would make this immediate of an impact?
Klaw (2:37 PM)
I think it's a great example of the cognitive issue of overrating small very recent samples (especially when the data tell you what you wanted to hear) and ignoring what came before. Two weeks ago the whole narrative was different but he's the same player.
Jeff (Boston)
Rubby De La Rosa gets the call this weekend? Thoughts on him long-term?
Klaw (2:37 PM)
Number one/two type stuff if he can hold up and show better fastball command.
Steve (California)
Have to give you kudos on Nimmo. You've been bullish on him for a while, and I've already read two "what did I miss on Nimmo" articles these past few weeks. Good scouting eye, I think you were ahead of the industry on him.
Klaw (2:38 PM)
Thanks. I'm not really sure what folks disliked - my main concern was his lack of experience as a HS player in Wyoming, but he was a good athlete with a solid swing and showed he could at least catch up to good velocity on the showcase circuit.
Chad (OKC)
I've seen a writer or two suggest the Rangers should deal Beltre and Andrus and move forward with an infield of Fielder,Odor ,Sardinas,Profar. Is that totally giving up or could the kids hold their own next season?
Klaw (2:38 PM)
I wrote a piece advocating they deal Beltre, but not Andrus.
Lenny (Philadelphia)
With the Mets having lost so many prospects to promotion (I'm including Syndergaard) over the last two years, do they have enough left to remain a Top 10 system after this year? From reading your previous work I'll guess that D. Smith, Nimmo, Plawecki, their #10 pick this year, and Amed Rosario all have chances to crack the next top 100.
Klaw (2:40 PM)
Not sure Plawecki is on there, but based on my own history the tenth-best player in any draft usually makes the list.
Beb (Leland Grove)
Trey Ball seems lost thus far. Any chance the Sox convert him back to a hitter if he keeps this up over the coming year?
Klaw (2:41 PM)
I see these questions and I want to believe they're just trolls, but I know there are actually fans whose myopia extends to giving up on a teenaged player ten months after he signed.
Derek (CA)
Unwritten rules are ridiculous, right? That's what we've learned?
Klaw (2:41 PM)
Yes.
Simon (Concord, NH)
Surprised at Xander Bogaerts recent success? Seems to have battled through a recent rough patch. The kid the real-deal, only to get better
Klaw (2:41 PM)
Not surprised. We all saw the quality of the AB he took in October. Kid is mature beyond his years at the plate.
Chris (San Francisco)
Do you know anything about a catcher named Riley Adams from the San Diego area?
Klaw (2:42 PM)
Yep, heard some third or maybe second round buzz.
Todd (Arlington, VA)
Will Lucas Giolito make the starting rotation in 2015 or do you think 2016 is more likely?
Klaw (2:42 PM)
2016 or later.
Steve (Denver)
I see you have Gray and Butler on the list, but not Winkler who is currently putting together a better season then both. Why no love?
Klaw (2:42 PM)
Because it's not a list of who's had the best third of a season in 2014.
marc (nyc)
Hi Keith - Not a baseball prospect / draft question (not even a baseball question), but I was curious where you stand on the Donald Sterling issue. Should he be forced to sell for mere words? If so, what words are the magic words that cross the line? And who gets to decide? Don't get me wrong, I don't feel bad for the guy (racist for sure), but I am a bit worried about the precedent and wonder what other words/attitudes are punishable in similar ways. Just curious to get your take on this.
Klaw (2:43 PM)
He's being forced by an organization of which he willingly became a member, agreeing to abide by their rules. He brought scorn and embarrassment on the organization so they kicked him out. I don't really see a problem with this.
Calm Down Francis (Ogassett, NH)
Would you flip-flop the roles of Bettances and Robertson, or is that a waste of Bettances ability to get more than 3 outs in an outing?
Klaw (2:44 PM)
I love that they're using Betances for longer stints, so if Joe G is locked into "my closer gets three outs and only three outs," then I wouldn't move either guy.
BD (DC)
Spencer Kieboom now at .330/.356/.511... did he actually learn to hit? D has always been there.
Klaw (2:45 PM)
He's a 23-year-old ACC product in low A. And he has 3 walks in over 100 AB. That's an org player.
David (Houston)
You said in your comments Correa's stat line at the plate is misleading because of the Cal League. This is true in most cases, but I've heard the wind is blowing in a lot this season at The Hanger in Lancaster. Does that change your analysis on Kemp and Correa?
Klaw (2:46 PM)
Wow, I didn't realize the wind blowing in meant the stadium wasn't 2400 feet above sea level. That's some strong freaking wind.
MK (NJ)
How can you call Hunter Harvey a top 10 prospect with a straight face?
Klaw (2:46 PM)
Who said I had a straight face when I did? I didn't. I was laughing at you.
Jack (Falls Village, CT)
You mentioned Austin DiCarr as someone on the rise. Would that be someone the White Sox would consider in round 2? Thanks
Klaw (2:47 PM)
I've heard him as high as the comp round. I don't like him there, but he's big and up to 94 with a decent curveball, so I wouldn't be shocked.
Kingpin (Grinnell, IA)
My 12-year-old son thinks he wants to become a chef. Can you recommend a beginner's level cookbook that would be appropriate for a soon-to-be 13-year-old?
Klaw (2:48 PM)
At that age, Joy of Cooking would be easy for him to follow, but I'd also recommend the indispensable Ruhlman's Twenty so he can reach the essays on techniques and core ingredients.
MK (NJ)
I'm not saying Harvey isn't good, but top 10 is crazy talk. Especially coming from somebody who refused to put Jose Fernandez in his top 25 with better #'s and just as good, if not better, reports on secondary stuff.
Klaw (2:49 PM)
Cool story bro, but I had Fernandez at 16.
Klaw (2:50 PM)
I do enjoy the "crazy talk" stuff from folks who have likely never seen any of these players and who don't have full-time jobs that involve talking to industry sources, though. Let me show up at your place of work tomorrow and tell you how bad you are at your job.
Geoff (NYC)
If Conforto will almost certainly wind up at first base, and his bat will be only average there, aren't there better options to save money on at 4?
Klaw (2:50 PM)
He's a left fielder, not a 1b.
Steve (California)
Long term, who has the best chance of staying the Mets rotation - Gee, Montero, or deGrom?
Klaw (2:51 PM)
I really like Degrom - doesn't have Montero's command/control but he has more life on his fastball.
Steve (California)
Looking at your rankings and your mock, I'm assuming Trea Turner would be the first round pick that least excites you?
Klaw (2:51 PM)
I don't like his swing. He has played very well the last 4-5 weeks and I think helped calm down some teams that liked him in the top 15 but were worried by the weak offensive showing he had to start the year.
JT (Orange County)
Cam Bedrosian -- difference maker RP (Kimbrel) in the making?
Klaw (2:52 PM)
It's a hellhammer of a curveball and he'll hit 95-96 regularly. But I don't think I'd ever call anyone the next Kimbrel - his run has been historic.
Nate (CA)
Seems like every day I get a prospect e-mail, Jesse Winker is 3-5 with a couple of doubles. I know you're not a fan of the glove, but are we looking at a potential all star bat?
Klaw (2:53 PM)
He can flat-out hit. Don't think he's a big power guy, but I was absolutely light on his bat out of HS - and he's turned out to be a much more patient hitter than I realized.
Dallas (Chicago)
It would be fun to see Angels take Burdi and then have a September game with Richards, Burdi, and Bedrosian blowing gas.
Klaw (2:54 PM)
And take Lindgren in the second round (if he actually got there) just to round everything out.
Tony (Chicago)
Keith - any Chance Kolek goes 1 or 2? If so, who do the Sox look at at 3? Do they just take the last of the big 3 (Aiken-Rodon-Kolek)?
Klaw (2:54 PM)
Don't see it. Anything is possible in the new system because of the importance of getting the "right" price on a player, but I think he's no higher than 4th on Houston's or Miami's boards.
Anthony (NYC)
Were there any Yankee prospects even close to consideration for your updated list?
Klaw (2:55 PM)
Who? They don't have anyone who merited it.
Calm Down Francis (Ogassett, NH)
Which current player is a future U.S. senator?
Klaw (2:55 PM)
Judging by the last MLB player turned Senator, probably Luke Scott.
B-Rad G (Malibu)
Does Tyler Danish end up a starter? Super young, but does his awful start in High-A deter you?
Klaw (2:56 PM)
Arm action says bullpen. To be fair, it's three outings in high-A, though.
Bang (Ottawa)
Hi Klaw,I know it is early in the baseball season but can you tell me how the Jays draft choices from last year are doing?
Klaw (2:57 PM)
You may find this link useful, if not exactly heartening: http://mlbfarm.com/prospects.php?team=tor&year=2013
Collin (Dallas)
Have you scouted Nick Tropeano at all? Future back end of rotation?
Klaw (2:57 PM)
Yes - reliever, plus changeup, good velo, doesn't have great life on FB and has a below avg breaking ball.
B-Rad G (Malibu)
Did Daniel Norris get ANY consideration for your top 25?
Klaw (2:58 PM)
No.
Lark11 (Earth)
Has Randal Grichuk become a better, healthier prospect this year? Or, is his profile just higher now because he plays under the banner of The Cardinal Way? Whatever the reason, the narrative seems to have changed on him. What type of career do you expect?
Klaw (2:58 PM)
The best fans in baseball have made him a better player. Seriously, he's a bench guy/below-average regular, good power, poor pitch recognition.
chel (houston)
Whats the chat and mock schedule for draft week/day?
Klaw (2:59 PM)
Thanks for asking. Mocks Tuesday and Thursday. Updated top 100 some time in there too. Chats Thursday predraft and Friday probably an hour after the draft starts rolling.
AJ (Youngstown)
Stetson Allie doesn't have the hit tool for the bigs, but could he have--if he had been developed as a hitter from the beginning?
Klaw (3:00 PM)
Maybe. Not a copout - he had real power, definitely was raw at the plate, kind of stiff overall, but he might have mashed his way through the low minors enough to help him develop the finer points like plate discipline.
Alex(CA) [via mobile]
Hi Keith. Two questions, please: 1) Approximately where did you have Jorge Soler ranked? He was under the honorable mentions, but what range would he go? 2) Who do you believe reaches the Majors first, Harvey or Urias? Arias is a level above but the Dodgers make take his development slow. Thanks
Klaw (3:00 PM)
I didn't place anyone after 25 in specific slots - I just listed some guys I really like with a few who've gotten better reports this year. Harvey gets there much faster.
de la (the 415)
This is pure speculation, but how do you think Evan Gattis (or a prototypical exceptionally talented prospect) would have developed had he not wandered the Western U.S. for four prime developmental seasons? Do you imagine his plate discipline would be better, or his defense? Could you envision him being a star or better now in his age 27 season? I know you can't separate the man or his talents from the path he's taken to get here, and he's here now because he took that detour, which helped hone his desire, whereas maybe if he'd stuck with baseball he'd have burned out permanently. Just curious what you think. Thanks for all your work!
Klaw (3:01 PM)
I do. I think position players who miss several years of development like that suffer most in the areas where Gattis struggles - approach, patience, pitch recognition. Had he signed out of HS or JC or something he would probably be a top 10 starter in the majors, if not more.
Rich (NJ)
What's your opinion of Vic Black? He came in last night and buckled a couple of guys with that nasty 12-6 CB. Is he consistent with that pitch? The stuff looks great so what's keeping him from being a lights out reliever right now?
Klaw (3:02 PM)
This is the same guy who walked 17 in 18 innings in AAA this year, right?
Sean (Colorado)
Has Jimmy Nelson made enough strides with his control to become a 3-4 in the Brewers rotation or is he destined for back of the rotation/bullpen guy?
Klaw (3:03 PM)
I'd like to see him more, but I've heard he's changed his breaking ball and made some minor mechanical tweaks so he's throwing harder this year. That would make him more like a mid-rotation starter, maybe a little more.
Nick (Long Island, NY)
What kind of reports have you gotten on Dominic Smith this year? He hasn't exactly lighten it up in Low A ball like JP Crawford, but he's holding his own. Is his stock up, down, or the same?
Klaw (3:04 PM)
Savannah is a *terrible* place to hit. Bear that in mind for every Mets prospect there - especially lefties, as I think the ballpark really kills them.
Paul (New York)
Keith, not that I'm poo-pooing all the content you have planned for next week, but wouldn't it make sense to hold off on an update Top 100 until after the draft? As you said above, ~10 or so guys who are ineligible next week would likely make the list.
Klaw (3:04 PM)
Top 100 draft prospects.
Rick (Seattle)
James Jones - you had him at #100 on your prospect list a few years ago - he's looking alright so far in his SSS in CF to my untrained eye?
Klaw (3:05 PM)
So far so good. Made some nice strides after a lost year in 2011 with poor performance and injuries, and the Mariners always stuck with him. Probably helps that he's both a good athlete and a great kid.
Ozzie (College Station)
As a media member, do you think that your emphasis on velocity for pitchers in your scouting reports might cause these young men to throw harder than they should at a young age...for fear that if they back down, you and the scouts downgrade them as prospects?
Klaw (3:06 PM)
Yep.
Tyler Bradbury (Philadelphia, PA)
Nomar Mazara and Ronald Guzman. Huge waste of money?
Klaw (3:07 PM)
Still too early to dismiss them - both are 19 this year. Early returns aren't great, though.
James (Toronto)
Thoughts on why the BlueJays have done pretty good in the draft discovering talent since Anthopolous has taken over since 2010 but have struggled to develop some of their highly regarded prospects?
Klaw (3:07 PM)
Player development seems to be their main weakness at the moment - players aren't getting better in that system as often as we see players getting worse.
Ben (DC)
Keith - I'm with Paul (New York). If you waited until after the draft to publish the top 100 draft prospects, your list would probably be WAY more accurate.
Klaw (3:08 PM)
Ooh, good point. I'll tell my editors.
Paul (Dallas, TX)
Thoughts on Kennys Vargas (New Britain - Twins) making it to The Show this year and projection as a pro hitter?
Klaw (3:09 PM)
AAAA guy for me. Certainly not a 1b. Only one 1b in the majors clocking in at three hundred bills right now and he's on the DL.
Mark (Toronto)
Alex Anthopolous said today that they would consider drafting Tyler Bedde again. Would he? Should he?
Klaw (3:09 PM)
What's he supposed to say? "Beede? Yeah, *&^$ that guy. We're still mad."
WTF Pancakes (Cincinnati, OH)
This isn't a question, but I just wanted to say this has turned into one of my favorite chats today. It's been an interesting range of questions and some much-appreciated candid answers. Thanks for taking the time to do this (even if it's your job, that doesn't mean I can't appreciate it).

Glad you enjoyed it. Someone actually asked if I like or "dread" these chats. I think they're a blast. I hope some of you do too.

That's all for now, but I'll be back quite a bit next week as we head into Thursday's draft. Keep an eye on my Twitter feed (@keithlaw) or Facebook page (facebook.com/keithlawwriter) for links to any updates.
