KC Joyner (3:00 PM)
Good afternoon! Let's talk some fantasy football!
Rowdy Roddy Piper (All Out of Bubble Gum)
There was nobody better!Do you buy the Cordarrelle Patterson breakout hype?
KC Joyner (3:02 PM)
Piper ruled! Funny thing is his stuff with Gordon Solie was probably even better than his WWE material. Am buying the Patterson hype due to his incredibly favorable schedule.
KC..new time, new season, but same old Megatron>>>>Wallace!Best stash on my bench: Bradshaw, Boykin, JMatthews. Need to cut one for a K
KC Joyner (3:03 PM)
Unless you are really thin at RB, cut Bradshaw. He's injury prone, Indy will pass more this year, their run blocking is bad and Richardson is in front of him on the depth chart.
Hey TFS - heard on ESPN1000 a week or two ago.. would be nice to hear you on the airwaves again in Chicago. What do you think the start of the season (first 2-4 games) will look like for Tyler Eifert? We got nothing from him in the preseason.
KC Joyner (3:05 PM)
Thanks! They bring me on every few weeks, especially after I've penned something about the Bears (or Cutler - they love it when I talk about Cutler). Eifert has two green-rated matchups in the first four weeks, so he's got a good shot at turning in a couple of good performances.
Don Leo Johnathan (Bruno pinning me in the ring)
PPR ..Need 2..Chris Johnson, Eman. Sanders, or Cordelle Patterson? QB..Romo or Wilson? TY
KC Joyner (3:06 PM)
That relatively short Bruno could sell the crowd that he could beat the giant DLJ is amazing. Would start CJ & Patterson (Patterson has a green-rated matchup this week). Romo rates a step or two higher than Wilson.
Fetch Monster (NOLA)
Do you start Lacy tonight over Foster on Sunday?
KC Joyner (3:07 PM)
Fetch Monster rules. Got Lacy and Foster rated dead even but Lacy does have a tougher matchup, so would start Foster.
Ted Striker (Striker!)
I have a drinking problem and a very wet shirt. Trying to stay a week ahead of the waiver wire in a keeper league - what do you think of Geno Smith's upcoming matchup?
KC Joyner (3:08 PM)
Might as well crash the plane into Lake Michigan - at least then they won't kill any innocent bystanders. Geno has one very favorable matchup over the next few weeks (Chicago in Week 3). Otherwise his schedule is neutral or unfavorable.
Joan Rivers (Beyond the Grave)
Too Soon? Anyways...Have great WR's in Dez/Megatron but my RB's are meh (Sproles, Muscle Hamster, TRich, Jennings). Trade from my obvious strength or stand pat?
KC Joyner (3:10 PM)
Not too soon. She was Carson's best guest host. Too bad she started that Fox show before he retired - she would have taken over instead of Leno. Got a feeling those RBs are going to be a lot better than anticipated. Wouldn't make any rash moves - trade only if it provides obvious benefit for the team.
Danny Davis' evil twin referee (Everywhere)
I think Gio will still get 250+ touches this year and you "experts" are overblowing this thing. Agreed?
KC Joyner (3:11 PM)
The WWE rant that angle way too early - imagine how it would have gotten over if it ran at the same time as the NBA scandal. I'm on board with Gio getting 250+ rushes/receptions this year, so don't lump me in with anyone who isn't of that mindset.
Dropped 49ers D/ST for the Saints. Good or bad move?
KC Joyner (3:12 PM)
Very good move. 49ers have lost some personnel and won't be what they were in recent years. Saints have a safety combo as good as Seattle's (at least in coverage) and they can rush the passer. Plus their offense will force opposing teams to be one-dimensional. It's why NO ranked third on my D/ST list this year.
Big Dub (Detroit)
Hey KC. Michael Crabtree didn't practice yesterday and I'm a bit concerned heading into the weekend. Am I still safe playing him as a WR3 this week, or am I better off going with Cooper or Watkins? Like Crab's match up....just a bit worried about the calf.
KC Joyner (3:14 PM)
Agree on Crabtree's matchup - it's one of the most favorable of the week. Watkins has a matchup that is nearly as favorable, although he also has the rib issue. Would wait and see how Crabtree is on Friday. If he practices fully, start him. If he's limited and Watkins practices fully, go Watkins.
THE ROCK (Jabroni Avenue)
Whats your name?......IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT YOUR NAME IS!!! PPR pick two...White, Garcon, Crabtree, Edelman
KC Joyner (3:15 PM)
As Mick Foley said - KNOW YOUR MOUTH AND SHUT YOUR ROLE! Got Crabtree and Garcon rated highest this week (albeit with the aforementioned injury concern for Crabtree).
hunter hearst helmsly (seattle)
does travis kelce actually have a big year, or is he just someone we have to talk about because you have to talk about somebody being a sleeper, nah what i mean?
KC Joyner (3:16 PM)
Funny thing is it's easier to remember how to spell that name than it is how to spell his real name. Kelce has talent and a really favorable matchup this weekend but the Chiefs O is going to lean on the run as much as possible due to their lack of receiving threats and rebuilt O line.
Re: Lacy/Foster guy, are you playing in a 4 team league? In what universe would you have the luxury to bench one of those two guys?
KC Joyner (3:17 PM)
A four-team league - now that would be fun!
Stone Cold (Thats the bottom line)
BC KC JOYNER SAID SO! picked up eagles D rather than starting cardinals... good move?
KC Joyner (3:18 PM)
Austin did a fantastic job on GameDay this past weekend. They should offer him a full-time gig whenever a spot opens up on that set. Got Eagles D/ST rated first overall among D/STs this week, so that's a good move.
Jolly Roger (Pittsburgh)
Would you trade Wes for Watkins straight up?
KC Joyner (3:19 PM)
Yes. Between Welker's suspension, injury, having to compete for playing time when he returns and the Broncos brutal pass D schedule, there are way too many negatives to his case.
Bears secondary is bad - EJ Manuel has looked horrible...which one looks better Sunday?
KC Joyner (3:21 PM)
Did the picks for ESPN's Expert Picks series again this year and selected the Bears to win that one. Just think they have too much firepower and will win something close to a shootout.
Roger Murdoch (Cockpit)
Wait a minute. I know you. You're Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. You play basketball for the Los Angeles Lakers...I have Crabtree as my WR2 and he is now listed as questionable. I believe my best replacement is D. Baldwin playing tonight (also have B. Cooks, D. Hopkins). How serious is the calf injury, and should I wait for Sunday and hope to know more about his status before the 1:00 games? If I wait do you prefer Cooks, Hopkins or WW WR pickup from SF if he can't play (A. Boldin was drafted)?I'm sorry, son, but you must have me confused with someone else. My name is Roger Murdock. I'm the co-pilot.
KC Joyner (3:23 PM)
My eldest saw this movie for the first time not long ago. All I had to say was that KAJ was a basketball player before that segment. He laughed uproariously - just proves that movie is timeless. You've got enough options that are as good as Baldwin, so there is no need to rush the move. Wait for the injury update and play Cooks if Crabtree is a no go.
Eva Green (Last week)
What no love this week? 1/2 PPR trade B cooks/M ball or A Jeffrey/B Tate...which side you got?
KC Joyner (3:24 PM)
First post that had her name - chatters must have missed last week's posts. Cooks/Ball - just can't trust Tate's durability.
Jim Ross (Ringside)
OH MY GAWD! THAT'S BEN TATE'S MUSIC!!! Will he be a solid RB2 for the season? Should I hold onto Terrance West as a handcuff or drop him to pick up a lottery ticket like Benny Cunningham or Travis Kelce?
KC Joyner (3:26 PM)
What's is Ben Tate's music? Anyone got an idea for what his theme song could be? It almost has to be something related to an injury. Hold on to West as the backup - between the two of them, they will post borderline RB3/RB2 numbers.
Unless somebody offers you an offer that is ridiculously in your favor, why would you consider trading before the season starts?
KC Joyner (3:26 PM)
Agreed. Only caveat is if your draft did not go well.
Jake the Snake Roberts (1980s)
Still can't believe he never won a title! What do you think Bishop Sankey's chances are of scoring more fantasy points than Greene against KC Sunday?
KC Joyner (3:27 PM)
Wasn't he the IC champ at one point? The Titans seem determined to make Greene their RB1, so he's likely to outscore Sankey in Week 1. That will likely change as the season progresses.
Fezzik (Princess Buttercup's Castle)
How concerned are you about Wallace this weekend playing Revis? How about for the season, Wallace outlook (seriously, no megatron talk here).
KC Joyner (3:28 PM)
Speaking of that, we had the TFS ESPN SportsNation chat league (aka Fezzik) last night. 16 teams, PPR - we were picking the bottom of the barrel players by the end of the draft.
Can Lamar Miller post respectable numbers if he has a couple good runs early? It's either him or Pitta at flex and I usually lean RB. Thoughts?
KC Joyner (3:29 PM)
Agree on going RB over TE as a primary tiebreaker. Miami will have at least a platoon setup. Only concern is if their O line cannot hold up, but Pitta's got a tough matchup of his own, so that isn't a plus for Pitta.
Pete (Kansas City)
I've never had running backs as lowly ranked as I have this year, but look great everywhere else. Am I doomed without a better RB this season?Starters: D. Brees, J. Bell, P. Thomas, A. Jefferey, R. Cobb, J. Thomas, V. JacksonBench: T. Richardson, D. Jackson, J. Edelman
KC Joyner (3:30 PM)
You've got three RB2 candidates on the roster, so it isn't all bad. You've also got Brees, who could be on the verge of a 2013 Peyton Manning-like season. Wouldn't be too worried about the state of this team.
The Creepy Abbreviator (Keepin' it short and sweet)
Best scrap heap TE in my 0.5 PPR league for week 1 - Eifert, D. Walker, J. Cook, or G. Graham?
KC Joyner (3:31 PM)
You almost should post as TCA - but that might end up being just a bit too creepy (and too inside baseball for those not in on the joke). Got Walker rated highest out of that group.
Kool Aid Man (Busting Through Your Wall)
Drafted both Bush and Bell and am quickly realizing it is going to be difficult trying to figure out which one to play as a RB2 every week. Do you prefer one or the other this week? How about for the rest of the season...how do I approach this? I could also go in a different direction altogether and start Stack Jack alongside Shady. Thanks in advance, KC! OOOOHHHHHHH YEAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!
KC Joyner (3:32 PM)
Glad to see those commercials making a comeback - Kool Aid Man rules!! Hard to say who to start between those two. Might try to start one at RB2 and the other at flex.
Devin Brooks (Detroit)
KC.. love your work.. I was already offered Colston and V.Davis for my Larry Friz and K.Rudolph. which side of this trade do you like more..
KC Joyner (3:33 PM)
Hey there! Thanks for the good words. Would absolutely want to be on the Colston/Davis side of that equation. Davis has some really tough matchups but he's still at top 5 TE. And Colston could have a tremendous season given he's healthy and the Saints have the most favorable pass D schedule in the league.
RIC FLAIR (The Natureboy)
WOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Following up on the Saints DEF question...In a league with an acquisition limit of 15 for the year (which I HATE) would you comfortable rolling with the saints EVERY WEEK? Or would you stream defenses based on match ups if need be, like this week possibly?
KC Joyner (3:34 PM)
Saints were one of only five green-rated D/ST groups headed into this season. Would definitely consider them one of the few week-to-week starters and save the acquisitions for elsewhere.
Lt Frank Drebin (Police Squad)
Nothing to see here! *Fireworks exploding in background* I paid big money to get Brees and Rodgers on the same team in a 2 QB auction league...I also invested big in WR to get AJ Green, D. Thomas and Larry Fitz...My running backs (Reggie Bush, Rashard Jennings and Ryan Mathews) are not the best but that won't matter with those 2 QB's and WR, right?
KC Joyner (3:35 PM)
Say hello to the queen for me. Those are three high quality RB2s, so you should be fine.
Who will have the better season between Jordon Cameron and Kyle Rudolph?
KC Joyner (3:36 PM)
Have Rudolph rated a bit higher due to the Vikings having an incredibly favorable pass D schedule.
Jackie Moon (Flint Tropics Locker Room)
Bad idea to own, coach, and star on my own team? I think not. Rank in order for PPR. Veeren, CJ2K, Colston, Sproles
KC Joyner (3:37 PM)
I've been meaning to watch that movie for a long time - how is it? Got CJ and Colston rated highest.
Braxton Miller's (Right Shoulder )
KC,QB - Tom Brady or Tony RomoTE - Jason Witten or Jordan ReedWR - Michael Crabtree or Marques ColstonThanks!
KC Joyner (3:38 PM)
With the number of times this question was posted, I'm beginning to wonder if this chatter is upset with me for saying Virginia Tech has a great chance to pull off the upset over Ohio State this weekend. Brady barely rates over Romo. Witten over Reed. Colston over Crabtree (due to Crabtree's injury).
Jackie Moon (Flint)
You either love Will Ferrell or you hate Will Ferrell.
KC Joyner (3:39 PM)
Well, Mrs. Scientist and I are big Will Ferrell fans, so it's a go. We'll put that into the queue in the near future.
Elmo (New Orleans)
Am I crazy to pick up Tim Wright when I already own Gronk?I have 7 total bench spots. Thanks for all the work.
KC Joyner (3:40 PM)
Wright is likely to be only a half-step down from the on-field version of Hernandez. Definitely stockpile him on the bench if you have the space.
George "the animal" Steele (Eating the Turnbuckle)
Drafted Saints D based on your hyping them all off season as a top 3 defense, yet they are ranked in the teens and have a pretty tough schedule. The Lions are available on the WW as a 1 week replacement. Are they worth picking up this week or roll with Who Dat Nation for week 1?
KC Joyner (3:40 PM)
Would roll with Who Dat Nation in Week 1. Atlanta's O line is shaky and the Saints can get after Ryan.
The Mouth (From the South)
You are one of few espn ff writers whose opinion i value. What is your take on Colston this year? I ended up with him as my 4th WR in ppr league. Other WRs are Brown, Patterson & Allen.
KC Joyner (3:42 PM)
I'll take that as a compliment but please know I value a lot of ESPN writers' opinions very highly. Long form answer on Colston can be found in some of the TFS ESPN Insider articles. Short form answer is he was very productive last year despite being injured and he's not injured this year. Add a favorable schedule and he's a very strong prospect.
Wait, TFS, you never answered Fezzik (Princess Buttercup's Castle)'s question about Wallace/Revis!
KC Joyner (3:43 PM)
Got in a hurry to get to the next question! Instinct is NE could move Revis to Wallace but they may also do a number of other things. Am not sold they will play shadow coverage all day.
Jimmy N (VA)
Sidge my man! Need some SAGE advice on my flex, non PPR. Reggie Wayne, Shonn Greene, Brandin Cooks, Kendall Wright, Pierre Thomas, or Andrew Hawkins? THANKS.
KC Joyner (3:44 PM)
JIMMY'S BACK! Great to have you back in the chat - it's not the same without you! Got Thomas rated highest on that list, as NO could turn that game into a shootout and give him some TD chances.
The Grand Wizard (parts unknown)
In a ppr league do you start Garcon or J. Bell? Thanks
KC Joyner (3:45 PM)
Favorite Grand Wizard line is when he tells Vince McMahon that Superstar Billy Graham is so powerful he has muscles he hasn't even flexed yet. Over the top ridiculous! Got Bell rated just a bit higher than Garcon.
Am I crazy? (yio)
Am I crazy for asking if I am crazy whenever I ask a crazy question? McFadden or K davis worth keeping or add depth at other positions
KC Joyner (3:46 PM)
Crazy is as crazy does. Hard to answer the question without knowing the other options but can say would keep DMC unless there is a strong option out there.
Steve Fezzik (Vegas)
Thoughts on Garcon this season and will RGIII get in the way of a productive season for him?? RGIII seemed lost in the preseason
KC Joyner (3:47 PM)
Garcon is a great dink/dunk target. QBs having trouble always look for players like that, so Garcon's production won't drop unless he reverts back to his former durability levels.
Name cannot be blank (....)
My RB's are Spiller,Martin, Fred Jackson, and Moreno. Am I in trouble?
KC Joyner (3:48 PM)
Maybe. Martin could end up as a RB1. Spiller can be a RB1 if healthy. Jackson could be a strong platoon RB2. And Moreno may take over as the lead RB in Miami. But all of those elements could go the other way. I'll say this - this team won't lack for RB drama this year.
Jay (Toronto )
I have Jets D for week 1 as a streaming option. Do you subscribe to the streaming theory?
KC Joyner (3:50 PM)
My advice this year has been to get one of the few top D/STs out there, as there aren't many quality D/ST options. The issue with streaming D/ST starts is it is dependent on finding a bad offense. If a matchup like that isn't available, one can end up starting a bad D/ST.
Andre Ellington will finish as a top ___ RB in standard scoring
KC Joyner (3:50 PM)
Brooklyn (Brawler). 15.
Halp me KC, You're my only Hope! (NC)
In a PPR League I need to pick my RB2 and a Flex Option from:Steven JacksonDarren SprolesCJ?KPierre ThomasMicheal CrabtreeI suppose I could also play one of those guys over Zac Stacy, but that seems like a poor choice.
KC Joyner (3:52 PM)
Is that intended as a Princess Leia voice with a southern accent? Start Crabtree if he is healthy. For RBs, Stacy does rate highest out of that group.
Insert Wrestler Name (Funny Quote) [via mobile]
*Celebrity joke* and Wrestlings cool! Now that I have your attention, Golden Tate or J. Bell in the flex? And R. Jennings is my #2 RB. Is Bell ahead of him too? Sort me out
KC Joyner (3:54 PM)
Hey, we've had Airplane quotes, The Naked Gun quotes, the Flint Tropics, Ohio State and even a Fezzik reference. It isn't all wrestling, you know! Got Bell rated higher than Tate.
Dusty Bottoms (Texas)
With Cam being limited today, would you start RGIII over him
KC Joyner (3:55 PM)
Is that Dusty Rhodes' cousin? Got Cam rated a step or two higher than RGIII.
Nick Nolte (North Dallas Forty)
Which back-end RB do you like better for 2014 = Stevan Ridley or Shonn Greene? NonPPR.
KC Joyner (3:56 PM)
Just ran across the DVD for that movie while moving some stuff around this weekend. Want to watch it before the season to properly set the tone. Greene. Ridley is a fumble away from being total bench fodder.
It's just mind over matter (I don't mind because)
You don't matter. Man, do I miss what was my Golden Era of wrestling. I thought I was set at WR for this season, but I'm starting to feel sketched out, typical of me. Please tell me I'm alright with Julio, Cruz, Crabtree, Patterson and Dobson. And If Chris Johnson has a big week 1 do we try to sell high on him?
KC Joyner (3:58 PM)
Great quote! I miss territory days and the Attitude Era. Hoping it can get back to that level some day. Am totally good with those WRs. Might have some durability question marks but with four quality WRs, you should be able to absorb some minor injuries out of that group. Don't see on CJ - he was a RB1 last year despite tearing a meniscus in Week 3. He's healthy now and is by far the best RB NY has on their roster.
Someone offered me DeSean for Fred Jackson. Would you do it?
KC Joyner (3:59 PM)
Would much rather have DeSean. Jackson was near the bottom of the league in GBYPA last year.
BREAKING CRABTREE NEWS (ny)
Crabtree is practicing in full today, said calf injury was minor, and no way he would miss is first game in his hometown
KC Joyner (3:59 PM)
Not sure if this is true but if it is, Crabtree fantasy owners can rejoice.
Joe (Bronx, NY)
could you give us some of your top defenses? some may not be obvious (NO wasn't to me). thanks.
KC Joyner (4:00 PM)
Sure. This week my top five D/STs are Philly, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, NO and NE.
KC Joyner (4:02 PM)
Hey there, hate to run but I've got a 4:05 PM radio interview. Quick notes before heading out - I'm on Twitter @KCJoynerTFS and on Facebook at Facebook.com/KCJoynerTFS. I do answer as many questions as I can on those platforms. Thanks again for all of the great questions and I hope to see you all here next week!
