Stephania Bell (1:00 PM)
Hi and welcome to the Tuesday chat. Trade deadline looms. Questions?
What can you tell us about Emmanuel Sanders' status for this Sunday? Do you expect him to get through concussion protocol and play? Thanks
Stephania Bell (1:03 PM)
Steve: It's never predictable how guys are going to return from these injuries. Delanie Walker is an example of someone who made great progress to a point. It was looking as if he'd be available. Then didn't clear final step and did not play (reason I said you needed to be sure to have a backup). When it's this early in the week there's even more uncertainty. I would plan as if he won't be available, then hope for better.
Once again TE position gets thinner..Possibly losing D Allen & J Reed..Would you pick up Niles Paul if Reed misses time (usually does) or Kyle Rudolph/Mercedes Lewis both coming off their own injury cases.
Stephania Bell (1:06 PM)
Danny: I like Kyle Rudolph's outlook for the future. Expect him to get more integrated in the next week or two. Paul is my second choice.
What have you heard about Arian Foster?
Stephania Bell (1:07 PM)
Justin: Nothing official but expect him to play this week. He was closer than it seemed last week.
Is there any reason to keep Bradshaw on the roster if the finals in my league are Week 16?
Stephania Bell (1:08 PM)
Greg: I would say no. I put in a waiver claim this morning with him being the one I will drop. I shed a tear because I really like him and admire how resilient he's been...but I'm not counting on him to help me in the next 4-5 weeks (and he may go to IR before then if not progressing quickly).
Chances Ball or Hillman get healthy enough to challenge CJ Anderson by weeks 15-16? Thanks!
Stephania Bell (1:10 PM)
Matt: More confidence in Ball returning than Hillman. And Hillman could surprise. But the wide range of timetables being put out by sources close to the situation reflect the uncertainty with this type of injury (think D Murray, D McFadden, MJD) as players who have had something similar in the past and while no two are identical, all of those guys took much longer than expected to return
What do you think Marshawn Lynch's outlook is the ROS? With his constant injuries and attitude problems do you think he will continue to produce?
Stephania Bell (1:13 PM)
Adam: One thing he's done is consistently produce, no matter what's going on around him. I have been concerned that he would ultimately succumb to the wear and tear in the form of injury and I feel like it's knocking on the door but until he actually is OUT with an injury, I'm trusting him on the field. However if you've got depth at RB I'd consider selling high to fix another position knowing he faces SF twice and AZ once in remaining schedule (he has done well before BUT being banged up and tired and facing them is another matter.
please tell me julius thomas will play this week
Stephania Bell (1:14 PM)
jay: Too soon to say for sure but the Broncos are encouraged that the injury isn't as serious as perhaps initially feared.
Brandon (Simi Valley, CA)
Should we expect Dwayne Allen to be out for just this week or multiple weeks?
Stephania Bell (1:15 PM)
Brandon: The fact he's being called day-to-day means I would not assume he'll miss extended time. This week looks pretty iffy but I wouldn't bet against him for next week.
Ricky B (Pasadena, CA)
A.J. Said a few weeks ago that he wouldn't be 100% for the rest of the season. He sure looked good to me. Thoughts?
Stephania Bell (1:17 PM)
Ricky: He's performing at a high level. The toe isn't severely limiting his productivity. Still doesn't mean he's 100%. There's the risk of aggravating his toe at any point which is a concern. Yes, he's startable and you play him with confidence until there's another issue (which may or may not happen through the rest of the season).
kate (kc, mo)
is josh gordon worth picking up?
Stephania Bell (1:18 PM)
kate: If he's available, absolutely. Might not blast back on the scene but I have no doubt he'll be integrated quickly.
Should I play Jeremy Hill this week or Bernard is going to play...
Stephania Bell (1:21 PM)
Devin: Whether Bernard plays or not (and we need to see if he even returns to practice this week; first hints will be tomorrow), Hill is still valuable. He's been too productive so far not to be. Plus, when Bernard returns, would not be at all surprised if he is eased in. Think this hip issue is a bigger concern than a run-of-the-mill muscle strain.
What's with this business that Philip Rivers has been playing with 'serious rib injury'? They don't have to report it on the injury report? And do you have any info on him yet? Thanks for all your hard work and please don't leave the 06010!
Stephania Bell (1:23 PM)
Kalin: It is interesting how the "rib" injury was revealed by teammate Antonio Gates in an effort to defend his QB. Mike McCoy came out and said it was not a serious injury BUT I have a feeling we will see him on the injury report this week. I also expect he'll play as usual. And, thank you. Not planning to leave the 06010!
Matt (Islamorada) [via mobile]
Last try! I lost Bradshaw and can get ingram, j gray or Cj anderson. Who do you like ros? Thanks.
Stephania Bell (1:26 PM)
Matt: Don't give up! I like Ingram for the next week or two. I guess if I'm gambling the rest of the season it's him. I think Gray will spike -some games will favor him and others will favor Vereeen. Anderson has the start for now in Denver but most of his yards this past week came on pass catches and I don't see that being the pattern going forward.
Hi Stephania, what is your outlook on Fred Jackson? Is this a significant setback or just a bump in the road to recovery?
Stephania Bell (1:28 PM)
Mason: A bump. It was a scenario of a Thursday night game following a Sunday game where he had just returned (earlier than expected) from a groin injury. Post-game soreness is not unusual but given all the variables, the concern for a setback was high enough to keep him out. Expect him back this week.
Can you clue me in on what is 06010?
Stephania Bell (1:28 PM)
Dan: The zip code of our humble establishment here and also the way we refer to our fantasy football podcast...
Jay (CAL )
Rashad Jennings ok?
Stephania Bell (1:30 PM)
Jay: I think better than OK. Said he (and his knee)felt "solid" after his first outing. Expect him to be fine - maybe a little sore - but barring a hit that sets him back, expect he'll continue.
Spenser (NJ) [via mobile]
Pierre Thomas update?
Stephania Bell (1:31 PM)
Spenser: Nothing before Saints return to practice. My colleague Mike Triplett who covers the team says not to expect to hear anything before Thursday.
Mark Shell (Camp Hill, PA)
How's Tony Romo's back doing?
Stephania Bell (1:32 PM)
Mark: Probably much better after a week of rest. He actually participated in a bye week walk through. He'll be out there this week. He just got the best medicine he could have asked for in a well-timed break.
Is Reggie Bush expected to be a full go ROS or will this injury still be a problem for him?
Stephania Bell (1:33 PM)
Matt: No way to know. We don't even know for sure that he's playing this week, even though he insists that he is (and I believe him). But consider that he has not played in the fourth quarter of several games due to injury. Until he makes it all the way through a game, there's little reason to be worry-free.
Hey Stephania, any updates on Jordan Cameron? Do you see him playing this weekend?
Stephania Bell (1:36 PM)
Tyler: Not sure I envision it this weekend but it sounds like the Browns are still hopeful he returns. Since it is a concussion (and his third within two years), they're wise not to put a timetable on it but considering it sounded a week or so ago like he might be done for the year, this is encouraging. Can't count on it but keep an eye on his status.
What's going on with Jimmy Graham's arm? Looked like he may have hurt it against the Bengals last week.
Stephania Bell (1:38 PM)
Nick: He took a big hit and you could see him holding his arm. No word on an "injury" and keep in mind how often he plays though pain. Wouldn't be surprised if he ends up on the injury report but I'm not hearing anything that makes it sound like he won't play.
Any update on Calvin Johnson? His elbow ok?
Stephania Bell (1:39 PM)
Kyle. By all accounts the elbow issue is not severe.
Karen (Aptos, CA)
Happy Tuesday Stephania! Any word on the Atlanta O-Line getting any healthier? Matty Ice is getting hammered back there. As always, Love the Chat!
Stephania Bell (1:42 PM)
Karen: Thanks! I really wish it would b/c Matty is my QB in the war room league and he is constantly under duress. The loss of Antone Smith as a quick outlet isn't good either. I think resorting to different strategy is more plausible than sudden health across the front.
Will Ryan Mathews be ok to play this week?
Stephania Bell (1:43 PM)
Jeff: Yes. Came out of last game feeling strong so expect him to be fine for this week.
Did you get a chance to watch the SD game? How did Mathews look, seen he had a decent stat line 16 for 70, but Oliver still got 13 himself, more of a week ease in or timeshare?
Stephania Bell (1:44 PM)
Danny: Haven't watched it closely yet, just saw a few plays. I think the plan was to share and they were aiming for about 15 touches for Mathews. Probably right on the money for the first game back.
Who would you pick up on waivers this week? Crowell or Gray?
Stephania Bell (1:47 PM)
Erik:Probably Gray for the upside although I don't think either will be totally consistent in workload. But I'm going with Gray.
Perk (Lexington KY)
Hey Stephania! Thanks for all that you do! I lost Bradshaw and am left with only Ingram and AP. I've been offered Jennings and M. Evans for Dem. Thomas (I have A. Brown, Marshall, Wallace and Tate). Good trade? I could also opt to grab Gray off of waivers. Suggestions? Thanks!
Stephania Bell (1:51 PM)
Perk: As much as I like D Thomas, you need RBs. I would do the trade. I would pick up Gray and drop Wallace.
Matt (Islamorada) [via mobile]
Who are you targeting before the trade deadline? FFN on tomorrow at 10:30, right?
Stephania Bell (1:52 PM)
Matt: It's 10 a.m. ET (until noon). On ESPNews. And the Watch ESPN app. But thanks for the opportunity to plug it!I'm still studying my options. Nothing definitive yet.
Is Anthony Fasano playing this week? Would you play Kelce Thursday night or confident Delanie Walker plays this weekend. Who would you play?
Stephania Bell (1:56 PM)
Perry: looks like he has a chance to suit up given that he was listed as a practice participant Monday. I would wait until Thursday to decide and see what Walker does Weds and Thurs. With concussions there's always the chance for a late scratch but if Walker were to practice back-to-back days I'd feel more comfortable that he's in line for a Sunday start.
Stephania Bell (2:00 PM)
SO this is interesting. The Panthers activated Mike Tolbert from IR/des for return today as they released WR Jason Avant. Also said it opens up more opportunities for Philly Brown. Hmmm.
Can we expect to see at least 1 trade from you all tomorow on ESPN would be kinda neat to see on TV
Stephania Bell (2:02 PM)
Danny: I'd be surprised if there weren't some in play knowing how decimated some of our teams (ahem) suddenly are after Week 11.
Stephania Bell (2:03 PM)
Thanks so much for everyone to coming to the Tuesday chat. Hope you'll catch our trade deadline special tomorrow and I'll be back chatting next Tuesday. Good luck in Week 12!
