Bill Williamson (4:01 PM)
Hi everyone, let's get rolling.
Kevin (San Diego)
If the Chargers don't win the superbowl this year, do you see their opportunity to win it in the next few years declining. The Chiefs and Raiders had solid drafts and can't continue to stay at the bottom for long. I'm still unsure about which direction Denver is going.
Bill Williamson (4:03 PM)
I think the Chargers' window is open for the next several years because of all the talent on offense.
Should the Broncos trade Orton before the season? If so, what do you feel fair compensation would be?
Bill Williamson (4:04 PM)
I don't see it. i think Orton stays for the 2010 season. He is the best option for this seaosn at this point.
Do you think there is anyway the Raiders could obtain Albert Haynesworth and at what costs?
Bill Williamson (4:05 PM)
It will liely get cheaper as the season approaches. iI seems like Oakland may be going into another direction.
rick (augusta kansas)
Are the Chiefs looking at Jarrod Page as a real possibility to start or does 5th round draft pick(safety) Kendrick Lewis out of Ole Miss a real candidate. I don't know of anyone else on their present roster that could come close?
Bill Williamson (4:07 PM)
I'd think Lewis would get a chance to play early if he has a nice camp. But that is asking a lot of a rookie.
nikolas (albquerque nm)
if decker and thomas actually perform well during the season do you believe that the broncos become a playoff team or is there other needs that they have ?
Bill Williamson (4:08 PM)
The run offense and run defense would also have to improve.
Given that all 4 teams seem to have their QBs of the future, where do you see these QBs ranked in 5 years?
Bill Williamson (4:09 PM)
Are we all really ready to say Campbell, Cassel and Tebow will definitely be their team's QBs in five years?
Kyle (Stockton, CA)
Given the schedule, I see San Diego 11-5. What's your take?
Bill Williamson (4:10 PM)
Sure, 11-12 wins seems about right.
Jesse Lee (Colorado)
I am a huge Raiders fan that lives in Colorado. I am really excited about the Raiders off-season so far. I think with Jamarcus gone the locker room should have a really veteran and young guys that care mix. How do you see the Raiders fairing this year?
My Cheifs are going to win the division! If Jamaal Charles is healthy and the defense works! Spread the word!
Bill Williamson (4:10 PM)
OK, it's spead.
Does Jamarcus resurface? Is he truly that lazy and unmotivated? J
Bill Williamson (4:11 PM)
I think is proven to be lazy and unmotivated to this point. Still, i think he's a chance somewhere.
Mike (Kansas City)
Bill, What are the chances the Chiefs sign another big name free agent?
Bill Williamson (4:12 PM)
I'm not sure if there is anyone currently available who the team will pursue.
Richard (Greensboro, NC)
Assuming they miss the playoffs, what will be the most significant aspect of the Broncos game that keeps them from being in the postseason?
Bill Williamson (4:16 PM)
My guess is run defense.
John (Topeka, KS)
With the offseason additions in Kansas City, how many games would you predict that the Chiefs will win this year?
Bill Williamson (4:17 PM)
I'd say 6-8.
Bill, Am I just being a homer, or do you think my Chiefs have a legitimate shot at the conference title. We lost 7 games by 7 points or less last year. With another year of players buying into Haleys ways, all the additions of players on the team and the coaching staff, and the 22 easiest schedule, don't you see a major improvement?
Bill Williamson (4:18 PM)
The key is defense. Has KC done enough on defense?
Hayes (San Diego)
The Chargers did not draft an early round NT, how do you think they shape up at that position.
Bill Williamson (4:19 PM)
They stole Cam Thomas in the fifth round. Many folks thought he'd be a second-round pick. The Chargers hope he can become a quick contributor.
Hey Bill,Great work!! Is Campbell the starter in Oakland going into camp? "We don't talk much in the 209"
Bill Williamson (4:20 PM)
Thanks, Pete .... This is Campbell's job, no doubt ... congrats on the Perfect-o.
Jeff (LA, CA)
Sounds like Veldheer looked impressive at mini-camp - chances he's the starting LT this year?
Bill Williamson (4:24 PM)
Looks like RT, but he still has a ways to go, considering he comes from a small school.
Rhett (Vacaville, CA)
Were you able to see the Raiders mini camp at all ? Hearing good things already about Rolando McClain. How did McClain and Lamarr Houston look ?
Bill Williamson (4:25 PM)
I was at the first day -- Russell patrol. But what I saw of the two kids, i liked.
Will (San Diego)
Chargers winning the superbowl this year? What is your opinion?
Bill Williamson (4:25 PM)
I think they are in the conversation.
Hey Bill,I have a chance to go to Arrowhead Stadium. How does the stadium and experience rank against other NFL venues??
Bill Williamson (4:26 PM)
You gotta go. Very cool place. I look forward to seeing the renovated stadium on opening night.
Ed (San Diego)
How much do you see Stuckey, Butler and Thomas contributing to the defense this year?
Bill Williamson (4:28 PM)
I think Thomas may get the most work on defense of the three.
Two questions: Is the Charger defense improved enough to make a serious play-off run and two have the Raiders improved enough to (gasp) actually win a Charger game?
Bill Williamson (4:31 PM)
The defense is good enough, I think and the Raiders almost beat the Chargers in Week 1 last year, so they may be a threat.
Giovanni (San Jose, CA)
Do you see or have you heard of the Raiders looking into a veteran receiver for Campbell?
Bill Williamson (4:32 PM)
We all keep hearing Terrell Owens' name. I think it would be a decent fit.
Alan (Kansas City)
Will John Henderson ever come to KC? The D-fense really could use him!!!!
Bill Williamson (4:33 PM)
The Chiefs have yet to show real interest in him.
Do you think Tim Tebow will see playing time this year at any postion?
Bill Williamson (4:35 PM)
Josh McDaniels has made it clear that Tebow will only be a quarterback. No H-back or special teamer, here.
Steven (San Jose)
How do you think the Raiders O-Line will look this season?
Bill Williamson (4:36 PM)
Just a guess: Tackles: Henderson and Veldheer, gaurds: Gallery and Carlisle and cneter: Satele.
Tim (San Clemente)
Do you see the Chargers' O Line as strong enough in run and pass blocking?
Bill Williamson (4:37 PM)
The key is health. It's a solid group.
Chris (Myrtle Beach,SC)
Hey Bill, do you think the raiders will be able to stretch the field with Heyward-Bey and jacoby Ford or will it be dink and dunk with Jason Campbell at QB?
Bill Williamson (4:41 PM)
Campbell has a gun. He will air it out.
Is knowshon a 1500 yard back this year...behind a younge line that is moving away from a zone blocking scheme?
Bill Williamson (4:42 PM)
I'd say more of a 1,000-1,2000 back.
What can Denver expect from the veterans they signed for their front three?
Devin (Tucson, AZ)
Why are people still saying the Chiefs need a "downfield threat" WR? One, Cassel doesn't have the deep-throw-ability to warrant having a deep threat WR. Two, it's clear Haley plans on Charles and McCluster being their big-play guys, everyone else on the roster seem like short-yardage grinders to wear the other team out so Charles/McCluster get to explode on a tired defense. The Chiefs are fine at WR...
Bill Williamson (4:43 PM)
Toughness and experinece. They are all pros.
Bill Williamson (4:44 PM)
To answer the Chiefs' WR question: I think just to give the team an added dimension.
Is Doom going to be in Denver long term or is he on his way out of town too?
Bill Williamson (4:45 PM)
I say he stays. Expect a long-term deal at some point.
Put all the hype behind matthews away...which rookie in the AFC West do you think will surprise folks with their performance this year.
Bill Williamson (4:47 PM)
Offense: Decker.Defense: Thomas.
LET"S JUST SAY, the Jaguars do leave Jacksonville and go the Los Angeles. How would that affect the AFC West Division and where teams in that division might land?
Bill Williamson (4:48 PM)
Heck of a question, there would have to eventually be some realignement. Still, I don't see any way the four current teams in the AFC West don't stay in the same division. Too much tradiiton and history.
Mark (San Diego, CA)
Bill, ESPN did a 2011 mock draft... you have san diego picking in the mid - late 20s again. Whats up with that? Didn't you get the memo that they will be picking 32 next year?
Bill Williamson (4:52 PM)
I'll let people know.
Do you see John Elways role (possibly as a special consultant) increasing now that Denver has a special project QB?
Bill Williamson (4:54 PM)
Only if Elway were interested in doing something like that. I know Bowlen would give him a job if he wanted it.
Jared (Phoenix, AZ)
Bill, heard the podcast that you and Matt Williamson did together. Nice work. The guy who hosted the podcast said that the Chargers easy schedule enables them to get to the postseason each year. Someone needs to remind that guy that the Chargers went 4-0 against the NFC East last year.
Bill Williamson (4:54 PM)
Thanks ... good point on the schedule.
Tom (Halifax, VA)
Denver has new QBs, new WRs, and a new interior O-line. Which of these groups do you like most and see having the most success this season?
Bill Williamson (4:57 PM)
The o-line is interesting, especially if Clady comes back for the start of the season.
Ryan (El Paso)
How good of a job would you say Scott Pioli has done with the Chiefs? He has been there for a couple of years now and been though a couple of drafts, would you say he has done a respectable job as GM?
Bill Williamson (4:58 PM)
It's been a slow process. I really like what he did this year. He is a guy with a plan and I think we are starting to see it unfold.
Rob (Rochester, NY)
Hey Bill,What are your predictions on rushing yards and tds for charles/jones? I'd say 1400 + 10 tds for Charles and 1100 7-8 for jones.
Bill Williamson (5:00 PM)
Charles: 1,400 yards, 13 TDsJones: 1,000 yards, 10 TDs
Bill Williamson (5:01 PM)
Great hour eveyrone. Thanks for making this early chat work this week. We're back to Thursday at 2 p.m. ET next week.
