Rich (In South Dakota)
Plaxico Burress will be released, I don't see him returning to the Giants, I read the Eagles maybe interested, will he go there or somewhere else?
Ohm (1:01 PM)
Hey guys, accidentally posted first question. So let's get started. Bring on the Oprah, NBA, Giants, Kim and Kris engagement questions...
Ohm (1:02 PM)
Rich, I don't know for sure where Plax will land. But I would guess the Eagles and Jets will be among the many teams interested when he is free. I would also guess the Rams and Saints as well.
Chioke Hassan (Baltimore,Md)
Dear OhmHow is Rex Ryan taking the Lockout?
Ohm (1:03 PM)
Chioke! By the looks of his book tour, Rexy is doing just fine during the lockout. Have you bought the book yet?
Ohm (1:04 PM)
Baseball Big Ten Champs... and the conference trophies keep rolling in.
Hi Ohm. Almost didnt catch you on this humpday chat. Whats the deal with the Sparty sucks guy everyweek? I take it he's a Michigan guy? I was wondering since you're in NY if you had any info on David Wright's injury? Im hearing it could be worse than they're leading us to believe. Thanks!
Ohm (1:06 PM)
Hi Rach! Pete's harmless. He's a Wolverine, you'll have to excuse him. LOL. I think the last thing I read about DWright, besides his owner taking shots at him, was that he was going to be re-evaluated and no timetable on the injury. But that was a few days ago. Best thing to do is check out our Mets blog on ESPNNewYork.com Adam Rubin is on top of everything! I thought about Hattiesburg last night. Was watching that 30 on 30 on Marcus Dupree.
Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)
What Father & Son Combinations has played for the New York Giants?
Ohm (1:09 PM)
Chris, Here you go, this is per the Giants media guide:
Ohm (1:09 PM)
Steve and Zak DeOssie are the 4th father-son combination in Giants history. They join the Youngs (tackle Willie played from 1966-75 and safety Rodney from 1995-98), the Greens (defensive back Joe, 1970-71 and linebacker Barrett, 2004-05) and the Hasselbecks (tight end Don, 1985 and quarterback Tim, who was with the team in 2005 and 2006)
Kevin (Toms River, NJ)
What are your thoughts on the new defensless player, lowering the helmet rules, or the new clarificaion of the old rules. I think it gives the offensive player a free ticket across the middle as long as they are looking back at the ball or QB. Shouldnt the responsiblity of the safety be put on both players. I just think it is going to cause WR/TE/RB to taunt defenders to either allow them the easy catch or pick up 15 yards on the penalty. What are your thoughts?
Ohm (1:10 PM)
Kev, I haven't looked too deeply into the rules suggestions or changes yet. But anything that keeps players safe and reduces the head injuries is a good thing.
where does Plax play this year?
Ohm (1:11 PM)
Jakey... don't know bro. If I did, I'd be a rich man. But I put some teams down in an answer earlier. I could see him doing Giants, Jets, Eagles, etc.
Ohm (1:12 PM)
hang on, phone call
Ohm (1:15 PM)
Ok, I'm back... sorry
Andi (NY )
Ohm....how long does it take Prince Ak to displace TT on the outside? TT is acting as if it's certain that he's moving back to the slot. Sounds like the move may have ALREADY been made....is that TT just talking for talking sake... or do the Giants intend to put PA on the fast track kinda like they did H. Nicks his rookie year.Essentially, my question to you is this....who are the Giants starting CBs come wk 1?
Ohm (1:17 PM)
Andi, yeah, TT did mention going back to the slot again with Prince's arrival. He likes playing the slot and I kinda agree with TT that him being in the slot is a good thing. But I still see TT being the starting corner opposite Corey Webster Week 1 because Prince has a lot to digest with no offseason workouts for rookies. He doesn't even have a playbook, I believe. So it is going to take Prince some time to get situated. I'd say let's wait to see if he moves ahead of Aaron Ross first.
Andrew (Ann Arbor)
Ohmie the Homie, what's good bro? It's a depressing reality that it seems we're a long ways away from Giant football. So let's talk Big 10 football. Do you have Ohio State winning the Big 10 despite these suspensions? Or can you see Nebraska come in and take the conference by storm?
Ohm (1:18 PM)
Andrew... well, you know I got to go with my Spartans to try to defend their co-championship. I think Ohio State has a lot to overcome. They'll still be in it, though, for the conference. Nebraska scares the heck out of me.
sean (simsbury ct)
Ohm, do you see the Giants signing any major free agents this off season? Excluding the potential re signings of Smith and Bradshaw.
Ohm (1:19 PM)
Sean, hard to know for sure because we don't know who will be either unrestricted or restricted free agents. I think the Giants are going to re-sign as many of their own as they can and maybe add a few more pieces. As for "major"... I don't know what the Giants will do without really knowing who is avaiable. Love to see Nnamdi but I think other teams will pay a mighty price for him.
sean (simsbury ct)
Ohm whats good? Do you see Prince playing the outside corner spot in three wr sets? Moving Thomas into his more natural slot coverage?
Ohm (1:21 PM)
Sean, just kind of answered this one a bit but I can see it later in the season perhaps. Terrell Thomas kind of mentioned it and it certainly gives them that option and more depth. I think TT starts out on the outside and maybe sometimes sees slot coverage. But if you are asking me like Andi did, who starts where? I think TT still starts outside with Webster. Maybe on some passing downs you will see Thomas move over to slot. Maybe. Got to see how far Prince comes along in camp.
Hey Ohm, can't wait for the season to start (hopefully).....Week 1...who are the starters at LB?
Ohm (1:23 PM)
Ian, I'd say Goff in the middle, Boley on outside and maybe Kiwi as third linebacker if Giants re-sign him. Otherwise, could be a veteran linebacker the Giants sign in free agency. Sintim is recovering from knee surgery. Fewell could go three safeties again for a good portion as well.
Assuming that Bradshaw becomes a free agent after the lockout ends and a new collective bargaining agreement is reached, what are the chances of the Giants resigning him and also keeping Brandon Jacobs?
Ohm (1:24 PM)
Well, if he is an unrestricted free agent, the Giants will have to pay him and then maybe they re-work Brandon's deal. Brandon said he'd consider a pay-cut only if it makes sense for him and his family. But I think the Giants would love to keep both, especially since Coughlin and Reese spoke about getting Brandon more carries this year.
Go Spartans!!! Have you stopped by any of Eli's Hoboken workouts? Or are they closed to the media?
Ohm (1:25 PM)
Well, they are closed to the media and public. We all have to watch from the outside. Eli said on Monday the workouts are done for now.
Kyle (Albany, ny)
Hey Ohm. Do you think the Giants will get a LB in free agency when all is said and done
Ohm (1:25 PM)
I do think they will add another linebacker. Not sure if it will be a big one but I think they need another veteran body.
Are the jets really interested in Randy Moss or is just a ploy to get braylon and holmes to resign
Ohm (1:27 PM)
Shawn, I think they want to re-sign Braylon and Holmes but I do think they won't rule out Randy Moss. Remember, Rex has always gone out of his way to praise Randy Moss. You still got respect his downfield abilities when on the field.
Ohm you are the man!! You do any podcasts or TV or anything? Or do you have a face for radio? J/K!
Ohm (1:29 PM)
Thanks man. I do some TV when Bristol has me on which is always fun. No podcasts as of now. I do videos every week of a game and have done some First Take. I think the last thing we did was a draft preview with Freddie Coleman and M. Wiley. As for radio, I love doing radio on 1050 whenever I can.
Another one for you Ohm. I'm a huge UConn guy, being a student there, and I was wondering how you see Beaty and the O-line panning out this season. The Giants didn't draft anyone early, making me wonder what their plans were. Same starting group as 2010?
Ohm (1:30 PM)
Well, I think Beatty is in the mix at LT. Depends on what the Giants do with Shawn Andrews. They have 30 days after the league year starts to pay him a roster bonus. If they bring Shawn back, provided he's healthy, I think Shawn could be the starting LT and Diehl at LG. If no Shawn, then you could see Diehl at LT and maybe they re-sign Kevin Boothe to play LG until Seubert comes back or Mitch Petrus plays LG or Beatty starts at LT and Diehl plays LG. Got it? LOL!
paul (san fran)
why do the giants continue to disregard the importance of the lb position. Don't you think organization puts to much emphasis on the d-line to be the all everything?
Ohm (1:33 PM)
Well, I don't mind the importance they put upfront. It works with all the pass rushers. As for linebacker, you would like to see them get a stud linebacker but there weren't any available where they drafted in first round last two years. So, you don't want the Giants to force their pick and take a bust right? Sintim is a second-rounder but has been hurt and still developing. I do like the linebackers they took this year in the draft. We'll see how they pan out and who they add in free agency if they do. Perry Fewell can get by using two linebackers for the majority of plays with three safeties.
Ohm (1:34 PM)
Alright guys and gals! Thanks for stopping by and chatting and enjoy Oprah's farewell today! As always, you can send me questions at NotoriousOHM on Twitter or leave me a question on the Giants blog.
