Ohm (2:00 PM)
Hey guys, what's up... what you got for me today?
Anthony (Bergenfield, NJ)
Hey Ohm. I just wanted your opinion on the Giants linebackers. Ever since last years draft, I've thought that between Jones, Herzlich and Williams, we could be set at linebacker for the next few years. Do you think these guys could develop into legitimate LB's or is it just me?
Ohm (2:02 PM)
I think the Giants have a good young core they can develop. I don't know if Herzlich and Jones are ready to be starters at MLB but let's just say that the Giants aren't as weak there as some might think. A lot of fans want the Giants to grab a linebacker in the draft but Jones and Herzlich could be the solution. Remember last year they did not have the benefit of a full offseason of coaching due to the lockout and Goff got all the reps as the starter at MLB before he got hurt in camp. Jacquian showed us what he is capable of at OLB and can get better and should get better. I like the Giants linebackers. Perhaps they can add another athletic linebacker in the draft.
Steve (Chicago )
Matt Forte for Jason Pierre Paul. boom
Ohm (2:02 PM)
You must be a Chicago Bears fan. Not happening.
Zac Brown Giants 3rd Safety next season ?
Ohm (2:03 PM)
I think the front-runner right now, barring the Giants signing a safety or drafting one or bringing back Deon Grant on the cheap, would be Tyler Sash. Giants like his potential.
Ohm brotha whats good!!! USF Bulls babyWHat are the chances of Donta Hightower falling the giants and if he does would they take him? With Jacobs being released any chance Giants look at Polk in the 2nd round?
Ohm (2:04 PM)
Hey my man. Sorry, I am not as up to date on the draft yet. Been focused on free agency. So not sure where he is going to go. I think the Giants will always subscribe to best player available. So if there is a running back they think is BPA at the time when they draft, they'll take him. I truly believe they go that route.
GK (las vegas)
Any ideas on who will replace Jacobs? I hope it isn't Ware, he just isn't that good.
Ohm (2:04 PM)
Ware is the front-runner right now. I think they also like Andre Brown a lot. But let's see if they get a veteran RB on the cheap in FA or draft one. But don't discount Andre Brown.
Aaron Simmons (Jamaica, Queens)
Why are we so restricted by the salary cap?...the only large contract on the team belongs to eli and deservedly so
Ohm (2:05 PM)
Aaron, they got a lot of money tied into Rolle, Canty, Snee, Boley, Webster and others. It is not just Eli. Trust me.
Nick G (Phoenix)
What is a concern that the Giants still have regarding their roster?
Ohm (2:06 PM)
We still don't know who will start at RT... Diehl or Brewer or they draft a RT. Backup running back a question mark. Who will start at middle linebacker if Goff doesn't return. Returner is a big question mark. That is just to name a few. Also at corner, will Terrell Thomas return to his old form. And of course, tight end... which Martellus Bennett should be able to fill but they need perhaps one more tight end or could use one.
nick (new jersey)
Hey Ohm, love following you on twitter, I've said all offseason that I think keeping him in a Giants uniform and happy, is more important than keeping Manningham. (Een though I hated losing Mario.) That being said, what do you think wil happen with Osi?
Ohm (2:08 PM)
Thanks Nick. Appreciate it. I'm assuming you are asking about Osi as far as "keeping him happy" is concerned. Yeah, I think Osi is a more important piece for sure. I don't know, though, how they will keep him happy other than paying him the money he wants. Remember, he also views himself as a starter and he won't be that with JPP now the starter. So getting a new deal is only part of the equation. But it would certainly make him happier than he is now. Ultimately, I think Osi remains a Giant but you never know. We'll see.
Corey D (Cleveland)
When should we expect contract extension for JPP, Cruz and Hakeem? Can the Giants afford all three?
Ohm (2:09 PM)
Corey, down the road. I doubt they extend all three at the same time. And I think the Giants will certainly do their best to afford all three. That is why they don't spend like crazy now or even last summer.
Bruce (New York)
We will sign or trade for another veteran RB, wont we ? Who do you think it will be ? Any chnace we get Jonathan Stewart as rumored ? What would we have to give up to get him ?
Ohm (2:10 PM)
I do think they will add another RB either through FA or draft. Just a guess. As I said earlier, could be Ware or Brown or Da'Rel Scott who gets more opportunities as well. As for Stewart, I still wonder how much he will cost via trade and he could be pricey to keep down the road too. The Giants may look for cheaper alternatives.
Andrew (Central New Jersey)
Hey Ohm, with the release of the opening game announced yesterday, when will the rest of the sched. be realeased? Very surprised the league didn't choose Green Bay for the opening Game.
Ohm (2:10 PM)
Same here. Green Bay - Giants would have been much more entertaining but Cowboys-Giants gets ratings. As for the schedule, it's usually released in mid-April.
Alex S. (Jersey City, NJ)
Ohm, Who do you think are realistic FA and/or Draft prospects the Giants will be pursuing in the next couple of weeks?Particularly since they can certainly shore-up keys positions before the beginning of the 2012 season.
Ohm (2:12 PM)
Alex, I don't think the Giants are going to be spending. They are looking for cheap veterans. They want to re-sign Goff and we'll see if he can get anything more on the market from someone else. But from here on out, I'd be surprised if they made some sort of big splash. Just my guess but I am not expecting much but a few smaller moves. Who knows, maybe the Giants will surprise us.
Whats good Ohm? You think G Men go D-line early in the draft? Any prospects?
Ohm (2:14 PM)
Very possible Dutch. Best player available yo. Best player available. If that happens to be D-line, then wouldn't surprise me one bit. They are always looking for depth and competition. The D-line is their strength. They won the Super Bowl. Now is the perfect time to go best talent with each pick.
Dear Ohm, What you think the Giants will do about their quarterback controversy?
Ohm (2:15 PM)
Hi Luis. You must be talking about the Jets. LOL. Giants have no QB controversy. But with the Jets, Sanchez still the starter. Once he struggles, if he struggles, the cries for Tebow will grow and grow and it will be hard for Sanchez and Rex Ryan. Time to find out what Mark Sanchez is really made of. Now is the time.
BrettHunter_ (Long Island)
Hey Ohm,How do you think compensation will look towards next year? With Jacobs, Manningham, Ross and maybe more leaving while we've only signed Bennet. If Reese sticks to the draft rather than making any big FA moves, should we expect multiple compensation picks next year?
Ohm (2:16 PM)
Hey Brett, I'm not the best at understanding the formula for what comp picks they get. But I would think at least fourth-rounder. They've lost three guys so far, signed two. And the three they lost are significant players. Who knows, maybe a higher one, a third? Could be two comp picks. We have to see who else they lose in free agency as well.
Would the giants have any interest in picking up Cedrick Benson
Ohm (2:17 PM)
Not sure Johnnieroxx. There is some baggage there with Cedric Benson. But they do need a power back. My guess is they go draft.
Ohm (2:18 PM)
Alright guys, thanks for the questions! See you all next week!
