JJT (12:58 PM)
Time to chat. Let's roll!!!!
I'm worried that the projected starters for our O-line haven't actually played together at all. How do you see the line playing come opener against the G-men?
JJT (1:02 PM)
Not very well. I'm with you. The biggest concern of the Cowboys right now is that when the season starts the starting 11 on offense will have had ZERO snaps together in the preseason. Romo will have had ZERO snaps with his receiver triumvirate of Miles, Dez and Witten. All of those factors against a good defensive team is not a positive
Mr. JJT, after watching the Boys last week in preseason # 3, did anything changed your mind/opinion about their chances in the NFC East? I think the secondary has improved.
JJT (1:04 PM)
Nope. I still think the Giants and Eagles are better. The Cowboys play 6 of their first 9 on the road, including a stretch of 4 of 5. That's a tough way to start the season. Given all the injuries, getting off to a fast start will be difficult. The combination of the two will make it difficult. They are more than welcome to prove me wrong
Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)
What is the Best & the Worst Trade that the Texas Rangers has made since you Covered them?
JJT (1:05 PM)
best trade was cliff lee. The worst trade is probably Danks for McCarthy. They tried to rush the process with McCarthy and it didn't work out.
Brother Love (Pasadena, Texas)
Is this the year the Cowboys finally field a playoff-caliber pass defense?
JJT (1:07 PM)
Claiborne and Carr certainly represent upgrades and Church had a really good summer. But let's see how the season goes

When or will mike jenkins be ready to go by week 3 .
JJT (1:08 PM)
no way to know because he hasn't made his second trip to the doctor yet.
Vinnie Vinci (Laurence Harbor, New Jersey)
Hi JJT,Just wondering what you thought about the DEZ Rules? I think they are a little overboard especially when you tell a grown man that he can't have a drink. I think Jerry is setting up the cowboys for a big failure!!Thanks,Vinnie
JJT (1:09 PM)
He hasn't been acting like a grown man, so this is what has been in place to help him understand what he can accomplish on the football field if he has a drama free life. We'll see if it works
Red (rockwall, tx)
JJT, is the year that DISD finally wins a 5a state championship? Skyline looks deep again this year. I'm also impressed how Roosevelt, Carter, Kimball, and SOC all look to be resurrecting this year with young talent.
JJT (1:11 PM)
I won't be shocked if Skyline wins this year. They have an outstanding QB and a talented roster. More important, they have been through so much heartbreak and disappointing moments that I hope it has taught them how to play 60 minutes and how to win. Winning is a process.
Lex (Calgary, AB)
Simple, These Cowboys beating the Giants Week 1?
JJT (1:11 PM)
I wouldn't think so. Too much to overcome in Week 1
Mr. Taylor- Just want to say I find your honesty refreshing and also comical sometimes. I am season ticket holder for the Rangers and have a chance to buy postseason tickets. I will get tickets to all the games and whatever games aren't played, my money goes towards a ticket plan for next season. So will I be seeing any World Series games? Or will they get bounced early? Thanks for your help and Hook em Horns!!
JJT (1:14 PM)
It bothers me that they don't have anything remotely close to an ace in their rotation. The BP is outstanding and the lineup is terrific and the defense is overall excellent. The playoffs are about matchups. The Rangers need to stay away from White Sox and I wouldn't want to play Detroit. The playoffs will be a blast, but I can't tell you if they're going to the WS
Dan Cahill (Stafford)
I've noticed a lot of tweets and other info about Roy Oswalt clearing waivers. How does that work? Does Oswalt's agent or camp publicize that? Surely no one in baseball is clamoring for his meatball throwing butt.
JJT (1:16 PM)
lots of players go through waivers this time of year just so clubs can gauge how much interest there is in a particular player. I don't know if it means he'll get traded because if a team had claimed him, they could've acquired him pretty easily
Will Matt Johson and Danny Coale make it to the practice squad dallas tries to release them?
JJT (1:17 PM)
I doubt it. Some sorry team - Jacksonville, Cleveland, etc - would consider them youthful upgrades and claim them. If I had to pick one, I'd pick Johnson over Coale just because WRs are easier to find than S
G-Money (Chicago, IL)
Blessings JJT - Thanks for hosting today's chat. Regarding the Cowboys' pre-season games, what are some things you've seen (good or bad) that have surprised you - players' performances, coaching decisions, points scored / allowed, etc.?
JJT (1:19 PM)
Good in no particular order: Dez Bryant, Jason Garrett,Bill Callahan, Tony Romo, DeMarco Murray & Sean Lee, physical practices, barry Church, 3rd WR developmentBad in no particular order: Miles Austin hammy, Jason Witten Spleen, interior OL, Clifton Geathers, Felix Jones, Jay Ratliff's health
You still think the Cowboys will sign a veteran reciever and if so who?
JJT (1:21 PM)
they seem pretty gung ho about the young receivers on the roster, and all the vets available right now are flawed. let's see who gets cut next week and re-evaluate
david perez (san jose,ca)
who has more interceptions Claiborne or Carr?
JJT (1:21 PM)
claiborne. He'll get considerably more opportunities
Cowboys will finish 11-5 and win the NFC East Thoughts?
JJT (1:23 PM)
That sounds like it's based on hope, faith and optimism - not reality - which is your right as a fan. The offensive line is still a huge question and the injuries are at troublesome spots. Plus, 6 of the first 9 are on the road. That's a lot of travel
Tony (Richmond, CA)
JJT, are you going to Jerry's World for the Cowboy Classic this weekend? Or just hanging out at the grill enjoying a liittle barbecue?
JJT (1:23 PM)
nope. Hanging out with the family as much as I can until the season starts and it gets crazy
Derrin (Plano, TX)
True or False, DeMarco Murray has at least 1600 all purpose yards this season?
JJT (1:24 PM)
that's a good number. I'll say false because Felix Jones will get some opportunities
raul (rio grande city Tx)
given the trouble the interior of the O line... do you see them acquiring a veteran C or are they sticking with Costa?
JJT (1:25 PM)
Let's see who gets cut. If it's a quality veteran with some size - 300 pounds - and experience I could see the Cowboys making a move
Nick Colletti (Venice Beach)
Lastings Milledge rookie card and a package of Oreos for Oswalt? Who says NO?
JJT (1:26 PM)
I guess. If they could get a box of cocoa puffs and a copy of last year's Madden, they should take it
Trey Justice (arlington)
score of cowboys giants?
JJT (1:26 PM)
Any chance Felix isn't around to get any carries?
JJT (1:26 PM)
JJT (1:27 PM)
Nice hands and a better blocker than we thought. So far, so good
JJT (1:28 PM)
I've enjoyed today's chat. Let's get it next week cause GameDay is Wednesday
