Ah, table tennis. One of those, "I could do that" sports where some people (read: us) speak wistfully about how good they were in high school and how if they had just practiced a little more ...
Except basically none of us could ever have done what Nigeria's Segun Toriola and Singapore's Gao Ning -- both Olympians -- pulled off at the Commonwealth Games, putting together an epic 41-shot rally that, well, you really should just see:
Despite losing the point, Gao went on to beat Toriola in the match, helping Singapore top Nigeria in the team semifinals (Singapore ultimately claimed gold in the competition). But who really won the event?
We say Toriola. And we would know. We coulda gone pro if we had just practiced a little more ...

Let it never be said that Russia doesn't have a sense of humor about the Olympics. An embarrassing malfunction at the opening cermonies resulted in only four of five rings actually opening, which led to widespread mocking on social media. For the closing ceremonies, however, organizers decided to form the Olympic rings out of human performers, and rather cheekily decided to reference the original mistake. Not bad, Sochi.
