Only if Dallas Braden becomes commissioner. Seriously,I did not notice it when it happened nor had I had ever heard of the "unwritten rule" Braden was so upset about. However, when I saw the replay, it certainly looked odd to see a player crossing the mound, and I realized I had never seen it before. so maybe future commissioner Braden had a point

Dear WallyCould you see the MLB having a strict rule on stepping on the mound?
Peter C (Commack, NY)
Wally,Is it true that the Mets are planning to honor their 2000 National League Champtionship team while playing the Yankees? The team that won the 2000 World Series?? What are they thinking?!?!?
Wallace Matthews (12:07 PM)
Don't know if that's true but I wouldn't a bit surprised considering the Mets history of PR foolishness, to put it kindly. Why a team would want to celebrate a version of itself that lost to the team it is playing that night is beyond me, but then again, when there haven't been any Mets teams to celebrate in nearly 25 years now, you take what you can get.
I know you're here to talk Yankees, but will you be at the stadium for Cotto-Foreman in a couple of weeks? And does Yuri have a shot?
Wallace Matthews (12:10 PM)
Bill, I will be at the stadium for the fight, just as I was 34 years ago for the last big fight at Yankee stadium, the Ali-Norton III, and I'm very much looking forward to it. I think Yuri has a real shot for several reasons. First off, he is bigger and faster than Cotto. secondly, his fighting style, while not exactly crowd-pleasing, is everything that gives Cotto trouble. He's mobile, quick wiht his hands and never willingly stands and trades punches. if you recall, this is precisely the style that Paulie Malignaggi used to give Cotto fits at the Garden a couple of years ago when Cotto was in his prime. Thirdly, I got to see and speak with Cotto at Yankee stadium th eother day and I was struck by how much older than his years he appears now. He looked to me, frankly, like a shot fighter
it's still early in the season. should we read much into the yanks beating up on the sox recently?
Steve C (NJ)
With Nick Johnson on the DL when will the Yankees finally admit he was a big mistake and a waste of money.
Wallace Matthews (12:30 PM)
The same day they roll prices back to 1973 levels
Steve C (NJ)
When Granderson comes back from the DL should he play Left Field Since Gardner has been playing Center Field and seems like a better Center Fielder?
Wallace Matthews (12:32 PM)
I wou;ldn't. Granderson was brought here with the understanding that he would be the CF. He seems like a good, easy-going down-to-eart guy, but nobody likes to lose a job because of injury and in fact, most managers won;t take away a job because of injury. So I doubt Girardi will make that move until te performances of the two players while healthy leaves him no other choice
what do you think about interleague play? i heard someone say that some teams for some reason or another seem to loose it when they have to play teams either in the AL or NL.
Wallace Matthews (12:34 PM)
Barbara, selfishly, I like it if only because one of my road trips is to Flushing, which is about 15 minutes closer to my home than the Bronx. But I understand why some managers hate it -- Joe Torre detested it because he thought it got too much media attention and took his team away from their real focus, which was the divisional race -- but the answer is a simple on. as long as the games continue to pack the house and make mone, and in most markets, they do, interleague play isn't going anywhere
what is wron with tex? is he ever going to get going cause we are about to hit june and he is only hitting 200.
Wallace Matthews (12:35 PM)
Maybe his calendar still reads April
