Ohm (12:28 PM)
Wud up, Wud up... let's get this thing crackin. Sure they are partying it up hard in Qatar today!
Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)
When will we see WRs Hakeem Nicks & Steve Smith back with the New York Giants?
Ohm (12:29 PM)
CF... I think Smith could be back next week against Minnesota. Nicks says is aiming for that too but I think the following week is more likely against Philly.
Sam (Mount Kisco, NY)
Hey Ohm. I've got a few questions. Just wondering if you think the recent move to Brandon Jacobs as the "starter," says anything about his long-term potential with the team (or at least, his being with New York next year). Also, I read in one of the articles that Steve Smith expects to be limited by his injury even when he returns--do you think this will have any real impact on his performance when he returns? Finally, what's your playoff prediction for the G-Men. Thanks and keep up the great work!
Ohm (12:32 PM)
Sammy... I think Brandon being moved to starter was to shake things up and send a message to Ahmad and rest of team that fumbles and turnovers will not be tolerated. Ahmad will regain his starting role sooner or later and likely still see meaningful carries in the fourth provided he doesn't fumble. As for next season, hard to see Brandon be traded anywhere. They can still use him. Smith said he will be limited by injury rest of the season and yes, I do see it impacting his performance. He said it will limit him when he reaches across his body and of course, his best work is done over the middle reaching across his body. It will be a matter of how much discomfort can he take. As for the playoff prediction, I think they will squeeze in there but I don't see them going far unless good matchups and if they are in good health.
JdubbDizzle (Hartford )
Whats up Homie? as always need some advice on this upcoming fantasy week. First off, Derek Mason or James Jones? and Second With Big Ben in a boot does this effect Mike Wallace's Value, if so should I start T.O or Dez Bryany. Thank you!!!YOU ARE THE MAN~!!
Ohm (12:35 PM)
Wud up JDubb... I think I like DMase better because Flacco will need to throw in a tough game. Jones is better option if Driver is hurt though. I think Big Ben will play and still be alright. I like Wallace but he is facing a tough defense. TO has a tough matchup. I kind of like Bryant's chances of a bounce-back this week after being shut out. I think Cowboys will try to get him involved early.
Jay Hennin (Old Bridge, New Jersey)
Who would you start this week? a hot matt cassel against a bad broncos defense or peyton manning against dallas. It's so hard for me to sit peyton because hes peyton, but is this the right week to do it?
Ohm (12:35 PM)
Jay... ooooh. Tough one. Cassel has been on fire. And Denver is a great matchup. But my mantra is, when in doubt, go with your horses. I love the fact that Peyton will throw a ton. Dallas defense is not good, especially secondary. I wouldn't bench Peyton.
What seed will the Giants have when the playoffs come
Ohm (12:36 PM)
Well Ohm, it all depends on if the Giants win the NFC East. They still got a shot. But somehow, I still see the Eagles winning it so I guess Giants will probably be a six seed in that scenario.
Frank (Houston, TX)
K. Britt, A. Collie, or S. Rice? Pick 2. Thanks.
Ohm (12:37 PM)
Hey Frank... Britt worries me because he has been out for so long. IF Collie is active, I'd go Collie and Rice.
Hey Ohm! Whats up... Tell me about David Diehl's status... how is he doing?
Ohm (12:38 PM)
Diehl is working today in individuals again for second straight day. We will find out exactly how much he does later today so keep it posted to the blog. Sounds like he is doing well and there's a possibility for Sunday... They could hold him for one more week, though.
Ohm! whats good my guy! With JPP seemingly getting into form late in the season do you think he gets on the field more? Who's going to lose snaps as a result?
Ohm (12:39 PM)
Dutch, wud up. JPP has been seeing more snaps. They kind of put him in there at times on third downs and take out Cofield and Canty and put four defensive ends. Other times, he spells Tuck or Osi for a bit.
I can still remember the Giants killing the Redskins 45-12 last meeting. I see that the 'Skins secondary still isn't doing too well, but how different will the 'Skins be with McNabb as the QB??
Ohm (12:42 PM)
Kenny... Giants own the Redskins. Believe they've won like seven of last eight or something ridiculous like that. Skins secondary is definitely vulnerable. How different will they be with McNabb? I think the Redskins struggle to score points at times. Their defense has kept them in games and play teams tough with exception to that ridiculous Vick game on MNF. They should stay close to Giants for a bit but I expect the Giants to pull away. McNabb has only thrown for two touchdowns in a game this season once I believe.
Hey my man ohm are the giants gonna usa spy on mcnabb and how are the giants gonna combat the washington return game
Ohm (12:42 PM)
Rahul... what up homey? I don't know if they will use a spy. I do think they will bring pressure though. Special teams will be big for sure. But the coverage, I have to say, has been solid.
Patricio (Del Toro)
Ohm, Who do you like better as a fantasy play this week: Jacobs or Bradshaw? Did you know Jacobs has the 2nd best Yds/Carry in the league!
Ohm (12:44 PM)
Wud up Patricio. Unfortunately, yards per carry doesn't help you in fantasy unless Jacobs is getting 20 carries a game. Don't see that. If you are in TD heavy league, I'd go Jacobs. Otherwise, I'd take Bradshaw...
Yo Ohmio, wud up? I need one TE from the following: Boss, Keller, and Olsen. Who you got? It's a must-win for me. Thanks
Ohm (12:48 PM)
B... Ohmio... that is a first of all the nicknames people have called me. Oh wait a minute, nah, it isn't. I do remember now that someone once called me that. LOL. Tough choices. I love Boss being used more in the passing game toward the end. Keller, I can definitely see him having a good game because he has hurt Pats before and I am sure Belichick will try to take Santonio away. Olsen has a good matchup with Detroit. I'd go Boss or Olsen, leaning Boss. But be aware... of the three teams, NE allows more pts to tight ends than Redskins and Lions. Lions are actually pretty good against tight end. So are Redskins.
Good game last night, state put up a good fight but wow Duke is talented this season. So in about 3 weeks should we have everybody back if nobody has a setback? Also, whats going on with Aaron Ross, he had so much potential coming out of school but its been downhill with all these injuries.
Ohm (12:50 PM)
Thanks Matt... I always look at big picture with State basketball... those are games they learn from and I like it when they get all their flaws out in the open early so Izzo can work on them for tournament time. In about three weeks, Giants could be near full strength, yes. Just in time for Philly. Wouldn't that be something? Ross has been beset by injuries. Latest is a back issue but he has been practicing this week, think on a limited basis. We will find out more today. Best thing you can say is, at least he is staying healthy this year. Giants will need him down the stretch. They are thin at corner.
SS seemed pretty hesitant in his interview yesterday and it seems the injury is mostly mental now. Does he play this Sunday and if not is it because he's still overcoming the mental side of the injury? Will he still be the same SS when he gets back?
Ohm (12:51 PM)
C... Smitty said he is aiming for next week. Only way he plays this week is if he feels really good. He did say that it will be mental, that he will be limited entire year and that it is about how much discomfort he can handle. He said he will feel it most when he reaches across over his body. That is doesn't sound great. But he said he can't re-injure it by getting hit or taking a hard spill. It may take a while for old Smitty to come back if he does. But he is a tough dude. I think once he gets out there, you will see 75% or better Smith. And I think you will take that just because his presence will demand attention and help on third downs.
ohm whats the staus of all the giants injuries will we get anyone back this week
Ohm (12:52 PM)
Jared, Diehl probably has strongest shot to come back this week but it could be another week. O'Hara sounds like another week or so. Smith said he is looking at next week. Nicks aiming for next week but my guess is week after next. Blackmon not sounding good for this week.
Andrew Scozzari (Staten Island, New York)
what is the giants' biggest weakness this week vs the redskins and how can they overcome it?
Ohm (12:53 PM)
AScozz... I'd say it could be special teams. Giants will have to play well in all phases. Redskins can be a gritty team. I think defensively, they need to get pressure on McNabb and they should. Offensively, Giants can't turn the ball over. And I think they will have to do a good job of protecting Eli.
Justin Tuck (East Rutherford, NJ)
When I speak the team listens. But do I have to do this every week for us to make the playoffs?
Ohm (12:54 PM)
Let's hope not Justin. But when you do speak, you carry a loud stick! Good speech man last week. Had Cofield in tears! TEARS!
Do you see DJ Ware getting more snaps at RB?
Ohm (12:55 PM)
Dutchy... maybe more work on third down as far as out of the backfield. Maybe a carry or two. But I don't see much else unless blowout.
The Giants need wins badly these next 2 weeks. If they can win these games, then they should be pretty healthy by the time Philly visits NY. I think the Giants still have a realistic chance at winning the division. Ohm, do you agree or am I being too optimistic?
Ohm (12:57 PM)
Mikey... you are right on with these next two games. This week is a must-win. And I am not overstating it. Must take care of home in divisional game against a Redskins team they can beat. They still have a chance to win the division. Absolutely. But it could come down to tiebreakers and what not. How much of a chance do they have of winning division... well, depends on health. If Giants can get healthy, beat Redskins twice, beat Eagles and win one of two against Green Bay or Minnesota on road... they will be looking good. Eagles still have Dallas twice. Say what you want to say about Dallas but it still has talent and will probably play Eagles tough in one of those games, likely in Dallas. And what if Romo comes back for that game?
Hey Ohm, love the blog and the tweets man...keep up the good work...fantasy question for you...i need a W this week for the playoffs.....I have Brandon Lloyd...Megatron...Maclin and Welker for WR's......I can start two and flex the other....sit welker against the Jets?
Ohm (12:58 PM)
Ian, thanks dude. Appreciate it. Man you are loaded son! Start Lloyd. Start Megatron although temper expectations with my man Stanton has QB. Yeah, you know what... I think I'd go Maclin ahead of Welker vs Houston secondary. Welker may get Revis or Cromartie. I hate benching Welker but you are loaded there so I think you can afford to.
OHM!!! The man the myth the legend, love you, best reason to come to espnny.com. Giants question, as far the best o-line as a unit, are the Giants better off with Beatty at LT, Diehl at LG, O'hara at center, and Snee at RG and McK at RT? I love what Seurbert is doing out there though...
Ohm (1:01 PM)
Thanks Peta! Appreciate it homey! Good question! You are asking, what the line should be at full strength right? If everybody is healthy? I'd go Andrews at LT, Diehl at LG, O'Hara at C, Snee at RG and McKenzie at RT. Bring in Seubert as the extra offensive lineman. But don't know if Andrews will be healthy like that. And you know what, say what you want to say about Seubert but he has been valuable this year. He has battled and has stayed healthy and is versatile.
Waddup big Ohm! Who do you like Schaub tonight or Big Ben against Baltimore?
Ohm (1:02 PM)
Mitch. What's going on in LA LA? Tough call. Wow. I have to take a second here to think about this one. I guess Schaub because of Big Ben's injury. But I still think Ben will play well because it is such a HUGE game. But safer to go with Schaub. But on road at Philly... tough. At least you have Andre though to catch passes from Schaub.
Hi Ohm, who do you see as Giants kick/punt returner this week and for foreseeable future? Thanks.
Ohm (1:03 PM)
Malcolm... this week... could be DJ Ware again at KR. He did a good job. Blackmon looks like he will not play this week. Hasn't been able to practice. On PR, Reynaud. Unless Devin Thomas can get into the mix back there but that might be a little too quick. For forseeable future... Ware and Blackmon. Possibly Thomas in the future.
Goodell (NFL Coverup)
Am I allowed to not show any video of the hit Roethlisberger took Sunday versus the bills, but show plenty of video of the hit Harrison gave to Fitzpatrick? Is that a double standard?
Ohm (1:04 PM)
I don't mess with the almighty Commish! LOL.
Ohm, whats the deal son! Do you feel Hagan, Clayton, and possibly Thomas are up to speed on the play book and will play big roles in the offense, or will we dumb it down and run a whole bunch and safe passes to Boss and Manningham?
Ohm (1:05 PM)
Paulie... I think Hagan will be better this week. Just a hunch. Clayton should get his first catch. Thomas... no idea. Probably not would be my guess. I think they will keep it to two wides... maybe a bit more three wide but when Manning needs to make a throw, Manningham and Boss and Hagan and Beckum.
Adam (Bronx, NY)
What's good Ohm?! Do you see the G-Men possibly making a Super Bowl run if we get all the WRs/OL healthy and straighten out the Special Teams a la a 2007 magical run at the end?
Ohm (1:07 PM)
Adam. Wud up. I think they can make a run. They have the talent and are good enough. But they just seem to always fall short of that this season. Turnovers, injuries, giving up an untimely big play. Giants just haven't been able to measure up to the elite teams they have played. Let me see when we get closer. This team can certainly get hot. But a lot needs to happen. First get healthy.
Jay (East Side)
What Ohm Homie!!! I really need some advice, I am in a bind with Nicks still out and am on the brink of the playoffs. Blair White, Danario Alexander and Earl Bennet?
Ohm (1:08 PM)
If Collie is out, definitely put BWhite in there. Otherwise, I think I trust Bennett a bit more than Danario. I think I like BWhite best out of those three though vs Dallas.
Ohm I got at you at the beginning of the season and talk about eli maybe cracking thirty td's and that Hakeem Nicks game reminded me of Jerry Rice not that he was as good but similar. You were supposed give me my props if you agreed, do I get them now?
Ohm (1:11 PM)
Kevin... I'm not giving you props for saying Nicks is like Rice. Homeboy got a long, long, long, long, long, long way to go before that happens. I mean, maybe Nicks reminds you of Rice because at times he is dominant and he drops balls this early in his career perhaps? But let's temper the expectations my man. As for Eli... Eli is good. I defended him last night on 1050 radio. This team will only go as far as Eli takes them. And I think he can get them to the playoffs, even with all the injuries. Was it you too that said Eli should be in the MVP talk as well? Can't remember. For now Kev, hope that Nicks comes back healthy and is able to play the way he was. That surgery was scary.
Nelson Valladares (Mastic, New York)
Hello Ohm Hope ur day is going GreatGiants need production from entire team to reside in NFL east n interview for the play offs. Run generated game controlling time management to set up t down passes from Eli. Giants make it through schedule player healthy n on the multipurpose D legs.
Ohm (1:13 PM)
Thanks Nelson. Not sure if there is a question in there or you just want to get some stuff off your chest. LOL. But yeah, Giants need to play balanced. Need the run. But I think Eli is pretty good when he is passing and opening things up. Hopefully they don't get too conservative inside the 20.
What's the final score for the game on Sunday verse the Deadskins?
Ohm (1:14 PM)
Think I predicted Giants 20-13.
When will the Giants Defense break their scoring drought? Coming into this season, I thought this defense would be creating turnovers and scoring A LOT. So far, lots of disappointment in that area.
Ohm (1:15 PM)
Yeah Pat... you would like to see them score a touchdown. But the sacks are fine. As long as they keep getting pressure on QBs... that's pretty good. They are ranked highly and typically good vs run.
Ohm JPP and Beatty looked pretty good any thinking that Beatty could possibly stay at tackle until Andrews get back especially since Diehl won't be all the way back. And is JPP making vast improvement or am I just hopeful.
Ohm (1:16 PM)
Kev... don't see it for now. Think Andrews will be the guy or even Diehl. As for JPP... he is making improvements. Dude could be a beast.
Ohm is it possible the Texans can squeak out a W in Philly, its not like Iggles D is all that Great?
Ohm (1:16 PM)
Possible. But don't see it. Not enough time for Texans to prepare. Eagles coming off loss. At home. Texans defense not that good.
Matt Dodge (NYC)
For all of the heat that I take, do you know that statistically I am one of the best punters in the league? I have the 5th best average and the 11th best net.
Ohm (1:16 PM)
And you do the Jersey Shore fist pump!!!!
Devon (Washington DC)
Ohm my man, there's no chance Devin Thomas sees time at WR, is there? I've lived in DC for his entire Redskins career and dude is trash with a capital T.
Ohm (1:17 PM)
Devon... yeah, I am from DC too... we'll see. Needs to learn playbook...
Ohm (1:17 PM)
OK Guys, locker room just opened up. Got to run. Send me anymore fantasy questions to @NotoriousOHM on twitter. See ya!
