Vote: Which team will claim the Stanley Cup?

The last time the puck dropped in an NHL game that mattered, Eli Manning was still at Ole Miss, David Ortiz had never hit more than 31 home runs in a season and Phil Jackson was coaching Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal. In other words, hockey fans have been waiting a little while.

The NHL finally begins its new season on Wednesday, with all 30 teams in action during the opening night of play. The league has new rules on the ice, new financial rules off the ice and more new faces in new places than you could shake a (hockey) stick at. But the ultimate goal remains the same, as every team hopes to take a lap with the Stanley Cup next spring.

Which team will make the journey? Will Mario Lemieux, Sidney Crosby (right) and the Penguins complete that franchise's revival? How will the Rangers fare in the Atlantic? Are the Red Wings and Avalanche still favorites? Vote on the season, SportsNation!
