Nets' future without Lopez?
As poorly as the 2013-14 season started for the Brooklyn Nets, they still had legitimate playoff hopes, and not only because the NBA Eastern Conference is awful. They had something many teams don't: a legit center in Brook Lopez, who was averaging 20.7 points and 6 rebounds per game. Those playoff hopes took a huge hit with the news that Lopez might be lost for the season to a broken foot -- the same foot he had surgically repaired in 2011. Though we hate to bring it up at a time like this, NBA fans know and remember how Yao Ming and Bill Walton -- two of the best centers to ever play the game -- had their careers shortened by chronic foot injuries.
