April Fools' Day brought several solid pranks from the sports world. Orlando's new Major League Soccer franchise said it would rebrand as the "Manatees." The Oklahoma Sooners football program joked that quarterback-turned-tight end Blake Bell would return to quarterback. MLS' Colorado Rapids might have won the day by putting players in hilariously bad throwback unis.
But things didn't all go swimmingly, especially for a pair of high-profile NBA players. It started days ago, actually, when DeMarcus Cousins announced he would release an R&B album, featuring Chance The Rapper, under the name Boogie Smooth.
Funny idea, to be sure. But a day before the big reveal, word got out that it wasn't real. So when Tuesday's video (below) hit, the joke was already blown.
Meanwhile, LeBron James tried to get in on the music-related April Fooling -- but with a tad less effort than Cousins:
I will be coming out with my mixtape April 16th. Feature on it Jay-Z, Drake, Ross, Meek, Juicy J, Kendrick, Snoop, and many more. "King Me"— LeBron James (@KingJames) April 1, 2014
April fools! HAHAHA— LeBron James (@KingJames) April 1, 2014
So tell us, sports fans: Whose prank most missed the mark?
