The BCS has limited conferences to two bids apiece for several years now, but discussions are in place to potentially lift or eliminate that restriction entirely. Part of this is likely due to the potential reorganization of college football into superconferences, but this might have come about regardless. After all, isn't it all about seeing the best teams possible, rather than the two best teams from each conference? The SEC, at least, seems to think so.

If the SEC and other conferences get their way, more teams from the big-time conferences may get a chance to hoist this trophy in the near future.
