It wasn't a hugely competitive game, and a 1-0 win doesn't always mean a lot in soccer, but a first-ever win over Italy might be at least a partial validation of Jurgen Klinsmann's new system.

What does this mean for 2014?

The U.S. dramatically made it out of the group stage in 2010 before losing to Ghana in the Round of 16. Will they perform better in the 2014 tournament in Brazil?
