We already knew that Lionel Messi was an all-time great, but every once in a while, he does something to remind us of just how dominant he can be. On Wednesday, Messi became the first player ever to score five goals in a Champions League game, running roughshod over hapless Bayer Leverkusen. Soccer's elite spent most of Wednesday evening comparing Messi to Pele, and after seeing him pop in five goals like he was playing in a peewee league, we're inclined to give that comparison serious consideration.

A harder feat?

Trying to score when an array of elite talent is lined up against you is one of the hardest things to do in soccer, but how does it compare to the rare four-homer game in baseball?

Messi or Ronaldo?

Cristiano Ronaldo gave us a reminder recently of how good he is, as well, with an absurd back-heel goal that seemed to come out of a cartoon.

The best ever?

Messi's highlight reel stacks up against the greatest players ever to kick a ball into a net, but is he better than the likes of Pele or Maradona?
