Dodgers fans have been less than pleased with their ownership group the past few years -- Frank McCourt's tenure began with a lot of promise but ended with losses, scandal and divorce proceedings. That's all in the past now, however, as a group including Lakers legend Magic Johnson has purchased the team for an unprecedented $2 billion. It won't be easy to turn the team around (although it was above .500 last season, so it's not an entirely dire situation), but any group that spends that much money on a team is undoubtedly looking to turn it into an annual contender.

Return to glory?

The Dodgers were decidedly mediocre last season, but they have a core of talent that could benefit greatly from some high-priced acquisitions.

Too much money?

The new ownership group paid about $530 million more for the Dodgers than anyone has for any team ever.
