Andre Ethier agreed in principle on a five-year deal with the Dodgers worth $85 million. Is this a fair contract?
ericksvhs: "I would've given him 2 years at the most. He's been known to be inconsistent at times. I think he is only a piece to go along with Kemp and Kershaw. However, since there ususally aren't players like Ethier in free agency, I guess it's a good deal for both sides."
brannoncox521: "This was one guy the Rangers had in mind in case Josh leaves this off season. Dodgers did good to resign him. He would have cost more at the end of the season."
Bluenotekid: "Must be nice to lock up this guy at that price. I remember Pujols didn't resign because he wanted 10 years, 300 million during the 2011 preseason. Good player, good amount, good signing."
reynej77: "Is he worth this much? Probably not. But it's not like they were going to get anything better in FA this coming offseason. Better to pay who you know than who you don't and don't know what you're getting."
TSGH-RJS: "Good player but not $85 - $100 million good + he's 30 so his best years are behind him."
cottonsoftballs11: "I think they should have held off on the contract for a little longer. After seeing him tear up MLB in his first season I feel he has always played with only have the drive he could be playing with, resulting in less than full production."
