Jeremy Lin is going to Houston, as the Knicks officially declined to match the Rockets' contract offer. The Lin story likely will end up a bittersweet memory for Knicks fans -- he came on like a comet during the 2011-12 season, but left just as quickly. Letting him go might be the right decision, but emotionally, there's no way it was an easy choice.
The right decision?
Jeremy Lin would have cost the Knicks an awful lot of money in the final year of his contract because of luxury tax rules and the like, but it's not as if the Knicks lack for money.
The Rockets still aren't there in terms of being a championship team, but Lin could be an important piece of the puzzle.
The Knicks still have Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire, but their window to win a championship may be closing fast.
