The No. 1 ranking has been like a poison pill this season -- seven times, teams that have held that honor have lost at some point during their brief reigns. It happened again to Indiana, their latest loss a 77-73 stunner at the hands of unranked Minnesota. Two other ranked reams lost to unranked squads Tuesday night -- No. 8 Florida fell to Tennessee, while Xavier eked out a win over No. 19 Memphis. Really, it seems like No. 2 Gonzaga is the only team without an awful loss somewhere on its résumeé. With all of the upsets happening in the regular season, we're excited about what this season's tournament might have in store.
The Hoosiers will grab a high seed in the NCAA tournament, but they seem awfully vulnerable to an upset by a properly motivated team.
Gonzaga is No. 2 right now, but Indiana's loss, combined with the fact that Gonzaga's two defeats have come at the hands of ranked opponents, could mean it'll be on top at season's end.
