The union between Alex Rodriguez and the Yankees has always been uneasy -- it's involved huge sums of money and public playoff failures, but also a good deal of tangible success. While Rodriguez recovers from hip surgery, the Yankees seem to be publicly regretting their involvement with the controversial slugger. Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner said that the team had often been ''disappointed'' in Rodriguez -- hardly an endorsement of confidence for one of your highest-profile players. Rodriguez may have had his failures with the team, but has he been held to too high a standard?
