The preseason is a time for trying out new players and new ideas, so it's never a good idea to take anything that happens in it too seriously. That being said, wow, did the Patriots look absolutely awful in their 40-9 preseason loss to the Lions. At this point in the preseason, you would hope that things would start coming together, but the Patriots seemed like they had only recently been introduced to the concept of football. They have one more game to get it together. In the meantime, we wouldn't want to experience what the Patriots are about to at practice this week.

Panic meter?

The Patriots turned the ball over four times against the Lions, with a Tom Brady interception and three fumbles.


Tebow time?

Tim Tebow didn't play at all in this game, and as final cuts loom, his future with the Patriots as a backup is uncertain.
