Is the NFL safe enough?

Football is an inherently violent sport, but the NFL is trying to convince its fans that it's trying to make the league safer. Roger Goodell sent an e-mail to 10 million fans that said the NFL ''will continue to find ways to protect players so they can enjoy longer careers on the field and healthier lives off the field." That's at odds with the message presented in "League of Denial," but are things getting safer in football as a whole?
