Ohio State wide receiver Evan Spencer said on Twitter that he should have chosen his words more carefully when he declared the No. 3 Buckeyes would "wipe the field" with either No. 1 Alabama or No. 2 Florida State. Coach Urban Meyer wasn't pleased that Spencer spoke out, It turns out that Meyer has been ranking his team No. 2 all along in the coaches' poll -- even ahead of former No. 2 Oregon, before the Ducks' loss to Stanford. This might be the first we've heard of this argument, but as long as all three teams keep winning, it won't be the last.

Here's a sampling of what readers had to say in our Facebook conversation on the story:

Something's gotta give

Nick Saban and Alabama have won two straight BCS titles, but Urban Meyer has yet to lose since taking over at Ohio State.

Don't forget about me

Jameis Winston has earned headlines at Florida State, but the Buckeyes' Braxton Miller has thrown for 15 touchdowns this season.
