Resting star players is a subject NBA commissioner Adam Silver called "an extremely significant issue for our league" in a memo sent to team owners in March.
It is also a topic that players seem to be split on. Kyrie Irving "can't stress enough how important rest is." LeBron James considers a coach's decision to sit players on certain nights part of their job, which he said is to "figure out a way for their team to compete for a championship, not compete for a game." Others, like James Harden "enjoy the grind" and say they'll rest when they're done.
The ongoing debate has raised questions on if changes need to be made to the length and pace of the 82-game regular-season schedule.
