On Thursday, Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill went down with a knee injury, the same knee that caused him to miss the end of last season. With Dolphins fans fearing the worst, it might be time to look at options beyond Tannehill. Matt Moore, the team's backup last season, looks like the odds-on favorite to start, but is that would Miami should do? Vote now in the polls below!
Beyond Moore, the Dolphins also have David Fales, a former sixth-round pick who signed with Miami this offseason and Brandon Doughty, the team's seventh-round pick in 2016 who was a member of the practice squad last season. While Moore has some experience as a starter, Fales only has five career pass attempts and Doughty has zero. As for options outside the organization, ESPN's Mike Sando laid out some of those options. But which one would be the best choice?
Cutler is planning on being a broadcaster this season, but has played under Dolphins coach Adam Gase before, when he served as offensive coordinator of the Chicago Bears. Robert Griffin III and Colin Kaepernick are both free agents and could add more competition in training camp. The Dolphins may not be willing to pay the price for Jimmy Garoppolo or AJ McCarron, but EJ Manuel or Brock Osweiler could be a relatively low-cost option for the team.
