Vote: Is Embiid worth the risk for the Sixers?

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Monday that the Philadelphia 76ers and Joel Embiid have agreed to a five-year, $148 million designated rookie scale maximum contract extension.

Since being drafted by Philadelphia with the No. 3 pick in 2014, Embiid's career has been hindered by injuries. That includes him missing all of the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons. Embiid showed flashes of his potential last season, averaging 20.2 points and 7.8 rebounds in his 31 games before tearing his meniscus.

When healthy, the 23-year-old big man has the talent to be one of the most unique players in the NBA. This extension could be viewed as a vote of confidence toward his long-term health.

With the news of his extension and taking into account of his injury history, is the 7-footer worth the risk for the Sixers?

The 76ers will open the regular season on the road against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. ET, on ESPN/ESPN App.
