A handful of current and former Ohio State basketball players reacted on social media to head coach Thad Matta's abrupt departure from the program on Monday.
Mike Conley of the Memphis Grizzlies and Evan Turner of the Portland Trail Blazers headlined a group of past Buckeyes who acknowledged Matta's impact on their lives.
A few current Ohio State players, including last season's leading scorer, Jae'Sean Tate, also posted messages in response to the announcement.
Former Buckeye Katie Smith, the all-time leading scorer in women's professional basketball, also shared her feelings.
Matta coached Ohio State basketball for 13 years, posting a 337-123 record, reaching two Final Fours and winning at least 20 games in every season except 2016-17.
