NEWPORT, R.I. -- John Isner overpowered fellow American Austin Krajicek for a 6-3, 6-3 victory Wednesday, advancing to the quarterfinals at the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships for the fourth straight year.
The 6-foot-10 Isner improved to 15-3 lifetime on Newport's grass courts and is seeking his third title in four years. He captured the 2011 and 2012 tournaments before Lleyton Hewitt snapped his 13-match winning streak in last year's semifinals.
Isner didn't double fault at all during the match and won 24 of his 28 first-serve points, reaching 140 mph on an ace late in the match. The 29-year old Isner is the highest ranked player in the field, entering the week at No. 12.
