Sparks get Quinn, trade Spencer

LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Sparks have acquired guard Noelle Quinn from the Minnesota Lynx and traded guard Sidney Spencer to the New York Liberty.

The Sparks on Tuesday sent the exclusive negotiating rights for forward Raffaella Masciadri and the Liberty's first-round pick in 2010, acquired in the deal for Spencer, to Minnesota.

Quinn averaged 3.6 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists last season, her second in the WNBA. She is from Los Angeles and played at UCLA, leaving as the school's No. 4 career scorer.

Quinn was originally selected as the fourth overall pick in the 2007 draft by the Lynx.

"I'm overwhelmed," Quinn said about coming home. "My family has always had season tickets and I grew up watching them and then being able to play at UCLA, I always dreamed of having the opportunity to continue playing at home."

Quinn's mother, Golden, has been a Sparks season ticketholder since the WNBA's inaugural season.

Spencer, selected by Los Angeles in the second round in 2007, averaged 7.5 points and 3.0 rebounds in two seasons with the Sparks. She was 11th in the WNBA in 3-point shooting last season at 38.3 percent.
